Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Course [Photo by Niketh Vellanki on Unsplash] Chinese Calligraphy is likely one of the most recognisable aspects of Chinese artistic culture, and Chinese painting, being traditionally oil based, has it s own fascinating distinctiveness. This course has been well received when run by the Confucius Institute in the past, but we have struggled for some time to find a staff member to run the class with an appropriate knowledge and skillset. Therefore from October 2018, we are delighted that one of our newest members of staff has agreed to lead a Chinese Painting and Calligraphy course, beginning with a focus on Calligraphy in the October-December term. Starts: 15 th October 10 th December 2018 Level: All Are Welcome to Attend. There will be no classes for different levels of ability. Where: Roundhouse Kitchen & Social Study Area (Ground Floor) When: 1. Tuesdays 18:15 19:15 Cost: 40 Register online
EXTERNAL CLASSES Meeting House Tai Chi Class Currently run from the Lancaster Quaker s Friends Meeting House, this class is the Confucius Institute s first class specifically created for the general public. More recently, we have taken to incorporating Wu Shu into part of the class, though this is determined by the instructor. The Confucius Institute was first approached by members of a Tai Chi class, previously run by the University of the 3 rd Age (U3A), who were looking for a new Tai Chi instructor. We therefore associate this class to being more for ages 50+, but ultimately the class is open to anyone. Each session will last for 1 hour, before ending with tea & biscuits served for the final 30 minutes. Next course: Cost: Friends Meeting House (Meeting Room), Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, LA1 1TX. Wednesdays 2:00pm - 3:30pm. From 15th October - 12th December 2.50 per session, payable in cash upon arrival at each session. Contact Adam Wilson (a.wilson16@lancaster.ac.uk or 01524 592620) for details.
