SHILLINGSTONE & DISTRICT RIDING CLUB in conjunction with BOURNE VALLEY RIDING CLUB WINTER CAMP 3-4 FEB 2018 BVRC DARKNOLL FARM, OKEFORD FITZPAINE, BLANDFORD FORUM DORSET DT11 0RP BY KIND PERMISSION OF MRS LOUISE HUXLEY Come and join us for some fun, instruction and inspiration - indoors! Winter Adult camp will be a great fun time in an informal, homely atmosphere to meet new friends and spend time with your horse whilst receiving expert tuition from qualified instructors. It is open to members of S&DRC and BVRC. Activities available: * Flat work * Pole work * Learn to jump & jump with confidence * Jump a course * Show Jump course building and course walking instruction * Technical jumping * Equine simulator to improve your position * Feed & Farriery demonstrations * Quiz Riding will most likely be in 1 hour slots in a group of 3 4 twice a day. There is no obligation to jump, and apart from the first session, there is no obligation to do flatwork either! This camp is open to all levels of horse and rider. Residential for 2 days: This will include all your meals, starting with lunch on Saturday, 2-3 mounted sessions and a minimum of one informative/practical session of instruction each day. Numbers are strictly limited and stabling will be available to residents only, on a first come first served basis. Therefore, to be sure of a stable, please book early. No turn out/hand grazing will be available due to the wet ground conditions. Shared accommodation will be available in the house. If you are coming from a distance, you may arrive on Friday evening (2 Feb), but please contact Louise to arrange. Daily attendance for 2 days: non-residential for those wishing to travel each day (includes lunch). NB NO HORSE MAY BE LEFT UNATTENDED OVERNIGHT. This means you may not go home and leave your horse at the camp.
Instruction. It is important therefore when completing your application form that you are clear about you and your horse s ability and what you would like to achieve so you are grouped comparably. Please also state if there is someone with whom you would like to ride. There will be a minimum of one morning and one afternoon mounted session on your horse each day, and an individual 30-minute instructional session on an equine simulator on the Saturday. Also on Saturday, there will be a course building and walking demonstration. In addition, there will be time to watch others having their instruction, have a cup of tea, read a book, or just hang out with your horse! Please bring with you - For your horse: Mucking out equipment, sufficient hard feed & forage, tack, rugs, boots, grooming kit. Hay and bedding (cardboard & straw) for your horse can be purchased on site if required. If using shavings, please bring your own and remove them totally at the end of camp and take them home. All stables have large automatic water bowls, feed & forage mangers. NB: Your horse will be working extra hard so will most likely need more hard feed than his normal ration. For yourself: Changes of clothes in case of wet weather and warm clothing. Dress will be informal but suitability and safety is paramount and hats must be of the correct BRC standard. Food will be simple breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and 2- course evening meal on Saturday. Those with special dietary requirements please notify us and we will endeavour to accommodate you. Any cakes, biscuits, wine, beer etc will be most welcome! Insurance The small print please read! Anyone attending camp who is a member of any British Riding Club is covered by the British Riding Club s third party insurance. All those attending camp are strongly advised to take out personal accident and accidental damage cover for both you and your horse as this is NOT covered by BRC insurance. Neither the Shillingstone & District Riding Club, the Bourne Valley Riding Club, the owner of Darknoll Farm, nor the instructors accept liability for any injury, illness, death, loss or damage however caused or incurred during or following the camp to anyone attending IN WHATEVER CAPACITY. Any loss or damage to Darknoll Farm property is the responsibility of the person inflicting the damage to repair / replace / make good as the owner sees fit. Riding, working and handling horses can be dangerous, and horses unpredictable. It is the responsibility of the rider to ensure that he or she and their horse have the skill and ability to ride/take part in any activity including jumping. All riders must inspect any jumps and satisfy themselves that they and their horse have the necessary level of ability and experience before attempting to jump. All riders must wear riding hats with chinstrap fastened. Hats must to conform to BRC requirements please see attached document 2016 BRC Hat Tagging Guide. Hats will be checked and tagged on arrival. Riding boots with heels must be worn. Please ensure all valuables and vehicles are secured. Qualified first aid assistance (Emergency First Aid at Work certificate) will be present on site. Ambulance and Veterinary assistance will be available on call. NB No dogs allowed in the house

The balance of payment is due by Friday 26 January 2018, payable either by paying on Equo Events, or by cheque to S&DRC. Equo Events has been set up so that you can choose to pay the deposit, then the balance at a later date, or the whole amount in one go. NB: Payment will only be refunded if your space can be filled.
