Athletics Turns in Successful Week College of the Desert Athletics added three more victories to their total last week, with men s and women s soccer and volleyball earning wins. Volleyball and women s soccer also opened their home schedules, appearing in front of two raucous crowds. Pregame versus San Diego Miramar Women s Soccer Previous week: 1-1 Women s soccer split two games last week, defeating El Camino-Compton 2-1 on Tuesday, before dropping a 2-1 contest against San Diego Miramar in front of a raucous home crowd on Friday evening. The Lady Roadrunners scored two second-half goals in their win against El Camino- Compton, as Madison Decker and Sarah Felix notched the points. Brianna Lazzarini made five saves in net for COD. In their first home match of the season, the Lady Roadrunners took a 1-0 lead into the half following a goal from Brenda Arauz. Britney Vargas made six saves in goal throughout the evening. Women s soccer returns home Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. match against West Los Angeles.

Athletics Newsletter September 14, 2015 Women s Volleyball Previous week: 1-0 Women s volleyball opened its home schedule last Wednesday evening with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-13, 25-16) victory over visiting Cuyamaca. Alyssa Cazares led the COD attack with 12 kills and three service aces, while Angelica Sayo added 10 kills and 16 assists. Maygan Zink also dished out 24 assists, while landing three service aces. Women s volleyball will be back in action Wednesday evening for a 5 p.m. match against East Los Angeles. Team huddle versus Cuyamaca Men s Soccer Previous week: 1-1 Men s soccer picked up their first win of the young season last Tuesday afternoon, as they defeated visiting Imperial Valley 5-1. They followed it up with a 7-0 setback at the hands of Yavapai (AZ) last Saturday. Brandon Montano scored two goals for COD in their victory, while Juan De Miranda, Edgar Duran and Jose Silva also scored. Jorge Sepulveda and Sergio Hernandez combined for the win in net. Men s soccer returns to the field Tuesday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match against El Camino-Compton. Men s soccer pregame huddle

Women s Golf Women s golf turned in yet another strong performance on the course last week, as they placed third in their Orange Empire Conference match in El Cajon. Kabrea Rosas led COD with a 77, while Fumika Matsumoto shot an 83. College of the Desert is currently in first place in their conference. Athletics Newsletter September 14, 2015 Football Previous week: 0-1 Football was on the road last Saturday evening, as they fell 30-10 to LA Pierce. COD opened the game with a 10-point lead, and trailed just 13-10 heading into the half. Steven Johnson led the Desert offense by completing 24-47 passes for 194 yards. He also rushed 12 times for 21 yards. Kaleb Wezdenko scored the COD touchdown, while Anthony Ellison caught six passes for 73 yards. Reggie David and Jalohn Law led on the defensive side, recording nine and eight tackles, respectively. Antonio Tafolla also added a 36-yard field goal. College of the Desert football returns home next weekend for a 6 p.m. game against Antelope Valley. 2015-16 College of the Desert Football team
