In this update we focus on what a great start to the year we have had thanks to the help and support of District Associations and Clubs throughout the country. Here at New Zealand Golf, we are so pleased with the progress we have made in the first few months of the year and we can t wait for the rest of the year to roll out. This year we are concentrating on delivering results that have a positive impact on the game of golf and we are delighted that so many good things are already underway in 2014. With your support, we are confident we are heading in the right direction and doing good things for the game of golf. This communication supplements our regular communication channels and provides a personal update from New Zealand Golf to our key partners in the golf industry. Please feel free to pass this email to anyone at your club or District Association who you think may wish to read this update. Today this update comes to you from the stunning surrounds of The Hills Golf Club. We are here (and at the wonderful Millbrook Golf Resort) for the 94 th NZ Open Championship. For all information including live scoring and live streaming please visit: http://www.nzopen.co.nz/ National Membership Campaign LOVE GOLF 1

Thank you for your support, belief and feedback in the LOVE Golf National Membership Campaign to date. We are extremely pleased with the progress made so far, the feedback and also the potential for where LOVE Golf can grow to in the future. We have an exciting week ahead with a lot of activity planned around the NZ Open where we will not only be using this as an opportunity to push the LOVE Golf presence on social media and key messages, but also to capture content around the volunteers, spectators, celebrities, professionals and the onsite activity all to be used over the next few months. There is already so much other activity underway as well including social media promotion, radio advertising, print and web advertising and of course the LOVE Golf website which is receiving great traffic after only a few weeks. New Zealand Golf has developed the LOVE GOLF Membership Campaign as a long term initiative to increase membership, participation numbers and the overall perception of golf throughout the county. Even though there is lots of activity currently, this campaign is a long term initiative and clubs can continue to sign up and be part of the campaign. We have 140 clubs on board so far however for those clubs who have not signed up please contact Jan Rowsell at New Zealand Golf (jan@nzgolf.org.nz) or your local District Association for more details. 2014 Club Seminar Series Central Region Dates Coming Up 2

Following the successful Club Seminars held in 2013, the first round of Club Capability Seminars are about to start in the central region. This round of seminars is focused on Membership Growth and Retention very timely given the national membership campaign underway. Butch Mawdsley and Garth Partridge from Integrated Intelligence Ltd. will present a 2 hour practical workshop with a strong focus on implementation. The emphasis is on building a plan for your Golf Club and developing actions that will achieve results. Participants will walk away with key action points and certainty on what to do to move forward and grow your club membership through practical and workable strategies. Upcoming Dates: Manor Park Golf Sanctuary, 10th March 2014, 6pm to 8pm (followed by 1 hour informal time with the Integrated Intelligence Business Coaches) Palmerston North Golf Club, Tuesday 11th March 2014, 6pm to 8pm (followed by 1 hour informal time with the Integrated Intelligence Business Coaches) Rangatira Golf Club, Wednesday 12th March 2014, 6pm to 8pm (followed by 1 hour informal time with the Integrated Intelligence Business Coaches) Stratford Golf Club, Thursday 13th March 2014, 6pm to 8pm (followed by 1 hour informal time with the Integrated Intelligence Business Coaches) Register for any of the seminars using the following link: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form?eqbct=4c8de9adb778452c8e291fcb00e6dc10 All seminars are provided by New Zealand Golf FREE of charge. Regional Golf Club Development Officers New Roles from April = More Support to Golf Clubs As part of New Zealand Golf s endeavours to provide a greater commitment and service delivery to grass roots golf, from April 2014 we will trial the employment of 2 Regional Golf Club Development Officers in two regions (Bay of Plenty/Waikato & Auckland/North Harbour/Northland). The Regional Club Development Officers will directly facilitate the delivery of growth and support services to golf clubs in partnership with the existing District Association network. While the Regional Club Development Officers will work closely with District Associations, they will be employed directly by New Zealand Golf with reporting to the national office. 3

The key responsibilities of each Regional Club Development Officer will be to work directly with clubs and District Associations to build club capability, to act as a link between national body and District Associations, and to be a conduit for nationally developed projects and training opportunities. After careful review of progress in 2014, the intention by March 2015 is for New Zealand Golf to continue the employment of Regional Club Development Officers in a few other locations throughout the country. Advertising for these new positions closes today and the interview process will start next week. ISPS Handa NZ Women s Open A Stunning Event Earlier this month the ISPS Handa NZ Women s Open again proved itself to be a wonderful event that is a great advertisement for our game. With Lydia Ko as a major draw card, the event attracted record crowds and an increased amount of media coverage. The city of Christchurch really embraced the event and we were so pleased to receive such great local support. Lydia played superbly well however South Korean professional Mi Hyang Lee shot the round of her life today to upset the local favourite and claim her first professional win. The 20 year old LPGA Tour player, who began the final round eight shots back from the lead, carded a course record nine under par 63 at Clearwater to hold off World No.4 and defending champion Ko by one stroke. Our thanks in particular go to ISPS Handa, the Christchurch City Council, Clearwater Golf Club and our other fantastic supporters for making this event possible. We look forward to building on this year s success and delivering a bigger and better tournament in 2015. NZ Open Championship Event Set to Thrive Under New Arrangement The NZ Open Championship is underway in beautiful Arrowtown and we couldn t be more pleased with the future outlook for the event. 4

This year sees the first year of a new future for the NZ Open where NZ Golf has licensed the event to Michael Hill Tournaments Limited. While we have been licensing the NZ Women s Open to a third party for many years, this is a fundamental change for the structure for the NZ Open and it couldn t have started in better fashion. The 2014 event is already a stunning success in terms of the value of the prize purse, the number of ticket sales and the media coverage being generated. This is a great pinnacle event for our sport and now has a solid platform from which to grow in years to come. It is important to note that while New Zealand Golf still retains ownership and helps oversee the event as part of the organising committee, the financial risk and heavy work load associated with running the event now sits outside of our business. This allows us to concentrate on our core priority of improving the health of the game at grass roots level. Fingers crossed for a New Zealand winner on Sunday night! Celebrate the Success of 2013 Supreme Halberg Winner Lydia Ko Teenage golfing sensation Lydia Ko recently made history when she became the first golfer to win both the Halberg Sportswoman of the Year Award and the Supreme Award. The World No.4 also became the youngest ever winner at the Halberg Awards at New Zealand sport s night of glitz and glamour that dates back to 1949. What a wonderful achievement this was. To celebrate Lydia s stunning success, you can secure your piece of New Zealand golfing history with this exclusive piece of memorabilia. In February 2013 at the Clearwater Golf Club, World No. 1 Amateur Lydia Ko became the first New Zealander to win the New Zealand Women's Open and the youngest winner in Ladies European Tour history. To commemorate this wonderful moment in history, New Zealand Golf has created a special piece of memorabilia. There have been only 50 pieces produced; each of which is personally signed by Lydia Ko and available for $400 each. Click Here for full details. NZ Golf Members Save on Car Rental with Hertz 5

Hertz is now the official car rental supplier for New Zealand Golf and we are delighted so any members have taken advantage of the special golf member rates on offer. Hertz and New Zealand Golf have entered this partnership to offer members access to special car rental rates whether they are travelling around New Zealand or globally. As part of the deal, NZ Golf members get 10% off the Hertz daily car rental rate throughout the year. This can be used when travelling to tournaments or other business and leisure hires when NZ Golf members quote the customer discount program (CDP) code 2013339 while booking.
