Membership list on website AC confirmed this had been done. Chairman nothing to report that isn t on the agenda Secretary website had been updated with minutes and AGM details. Treasurer accounts updated to 22 nd January had been circulated. All clubs had paid their fees for the first half of the season but still awaiting expenses claim from Nick Grimshaw. The budget was reflecting a small loss and this was still expected. There were no queries. Appointments Secretary up to the weekend of the 10/11 February 64 appointments had been made for this half of the season. One new umpire, Colin Reed, who had officiated last Saturday was watched by Anthony Bridge and was with Darrell next week. Chief Coach report tabled, nothing to add.
5. Lay Members SCu - none TC - none 6. County representatives TC (Herefordshire) One incoming Level 1 umpire, Max Bartholomew. Advised when at Devizes had shown promise and could be encouraged to do some HGW games. Two umpires now moved to Level 1 assessed and one umpire being coached for possible HGW games. MS (Gloucestershire) report tabled. 7. West Umpiring sub-committee - items of note: Ben Redwood no longer administrator for RYUAG, there is someone in Plymouth running something similar so they are being contacted to see if they will take this on. 8. League matters Nothing of any relevance to HGW. 9. Umpire Development/Recruitment 10. GDPR update There had been an increase in membership numbers so HGW had to be attracting new members albeit from those who had their first year free and renewed. Pair & Share was again discussed with various options being raised. SC said it helped when a West umpire agreed to step aside for one weekend a month to take HGW appointments to which the point was made as to where this cascade started. TC gave an example of an umpire in Leominster who wanted to develop but the opportunities were limited due to the lack of other games in the area. It was agreed this should be an item for discussion at the July meeting when the new committee was in place. Action point: AC to place on agenda for July meeting. AC had circulated a document that was on the EH website that gave some useful information. There was a general discussion on the data we held, its relevance and how long we hold it. MW advised that, in March, through his work he will have access to a consultant and can ask some questions on our behalf. The information can then be reported back to committee. Action point: MW to provide information in due course. 11. AGM arrangements including Chris Tomlinson award AGM confirmed for Monday 9 th April. In view of the EH change proposals DL & SC indicated they would wish to see these through and so would extend their tenure for one more year. All others were willing to stand for re-election which leaves one Lay Member vacancy. This would be included in the email.
MW proposed that membership fees remain unchanged and this was agreed. Action point: AC to include in the notification email: The Lay Member vacancy. The proposed amendment to the constitution No change to membership fees The Chris Tomlinson award was discussed and it was agreed that Mike Buckland would be a worthy recipient due to his availability and flexibility. 12. Any other business MW raised concerns about the distribution of our funds if the EH proposals regarding HUA s moved forward. It was agreed to review the Constitution so as to ring fence all assets and monies to the three constituent county associations. Action point: AC & SC to draft an amendment and circulate to committee prior to adding it to the AGM agenda. 13. Date of next meeting To be confirmed after the AGM Meeting closed at 8:45.
Reports Annexe Chief Coach report Not a huge amount to report since our last meeting. The weather, plus mid-season break, have both meant that we have not been able to carry out many watchings in the second half of the season as yet for example, the match where I was supposed to watch 2 of our members last weekend was cancelled due to a frozen pitch! So far, we have carried out 27 watchings, covering 12 of our active members (out of 16). I have umpired with 2 of those who have not been formally watched, so effectively we have so far covered 14 out of 16, which is pretty good at this stage. We had a mid-season selection committee meeting and decided to put forward 2 of our members to be watched for progress to the West Mark Readstone and Pete Hay, and their assessment matches are coming up over the next few weeks. Steve Burton has also now got onto the West. I have not yet had the opportunity to assess Darrell for his Level 1 umpire coaching award, but hope that this might come up towards the end of the season. As always, thanks to Steve Court for his tireless work in arranging everything for us and for the coaches who give up their time to support the membership.
