4-H Shooting Sports Leaders, 2018-2019 Cascade County 4-H Archery Shooting Sports Postal Tournament We would like to invite any county that has an active archery shooting sports program to participate in a postal tournament. We have included the information, rules, and procedures below. GENERAL RULES 2018 2019 CASCADE COUNTY 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS POSTAL TOURNAMENT RULES and PROCEDURES This tournament is open to any participant of a current 4-H archery shooting sports program. 4-H membership is required to participate and receive awards. The minimum age is 9 for participants and their age as of October 1st, 2018 will determine their age classification. It is each county s responsibility to check their members ages as listed on the results sheet (typos can happen). Age classifications are: 9-10 year old, 11-12 year old, 13-14 year old, 15-19 year old We want and expect coaching for the skill level of the participant. If you have beginner shooters that need lots of coaching on-the-line, please allow for that. As they age and mature in their skills, they should not need as much on-the-line coaching. 2. DISCIPLINES Archery ONLY: Maximum of 3 disciplines maybe shot per Archer 1. Unlimited - (compound, moveable sights or fixed sights and release, stabilizer 12 inches and over.) 2. Bowhunter (compound, moveable sights or fixed sights and release, stabilizer 12 inches or less.) 3. Limited (compound, fixed sights and fingers.) 4. Barebow (compound, fingers and no sights.) 5. Primitive (recurve or longbow, fingers and no sights.) 6. Olympic recurve (recurve, fingers, sights and stabilizer.) NO changing of bows after the start of the tournament. 3. COSTS AND REGISTRATION The cost is $10.00 per shooter, per discipline. Each shooter may register for no more than 3 disciplines.
Please register the name and age of each shooter on the form attached by BY JANUARY 11, 2019. Send the registration list and a check to the address listed below. Please make checks payable to CC4HSSLC (Cascade County 4-H Shooting Sports Leaders Committee). 4. SCORING: Targets are to be scored by a Montana 4-H Shooting Sports Leader. Targets will need to be shot and scored by February 27, 2019. You can practice for as many or few weeks as desired, however you must decide prior to shooting the tournament target that it will be the one to be scored. (Don t shoot multiple sets of targets and choose the best score for inclusion in the postal match.) National Standard rules are followed by all disciplines. All targets and score cards need be kept on file until March 15, 2018. In the event of a challenge, contested targets must be sent into the coordinator for inspection (otherwise, do not send targets in). SENDING IN SCORES: When sending in scores, please include your county name on all correspondence. This will make looking up information much easier!!!! Please DO NOT send in targets, we ONLY need the raw scores. You may send scores via e-mail and/or postal mail if you choose. If you choose to do both, please indicate that they have also been sent via the other mail to eliminate confusion. SCORES ONLY are to be sent or e-mailed to: (You may use the score form below.) 5. ARCHERY POSTAL SHOOT COMPETITION PROCEDURES: COURSE OF FIRE: Competition should be as follows 1. Shooters must shoot either a 40 cm 10 ring target or a Vegas Three-Spot target. 2. Thirty arrows at 10 meters (10 rounds of 3 arrows, or 5 rounds of 6 arrows) 300 points maximum. 3. Shooters may straddle the shooting line. (One foot on each side of line.) SCORING: 1. For the 10 ring target, score 10x, 10, 9, 8, etc. down to 1. For the Vegas 3 spot, score 10x, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6.
2. If the arrow touches the higher scoring line, the shooter gets the higher score. Misfired arrows can be retrieved if the arrow is within 5 feet of the shooting line. 3. If an arrow bounces out of the target, it may be re-shot. 4. Targets may be used more than once. 5. A shooting sports leader should score targets. If you need help scoring, please contact Jeremy at the number above. AWARDS: 1. Plaques or ribbons will be awarded for up to 6th place in each discipline and division.
