Trosper Archery Club Safety Code The following safety regulations are written for your protection as well as the protection of the Trosper Archery Club. The Officers and members of Trosper want all archers and their guests to safely enjoy our ranges. Trosper Archery Club pays monthly rent to furnish the Indoor Range to its members and a yearly fee to the City of Oklahoma City to lease the Outdoor Range. We also bear the expenses of maintenance on both ranges. Many of the regulations pertaining to the Outdoor Range are also required by the City of Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department. All of the regulations of the Outdoor Range have been approved by the appropriate City Offices. These rules have been adopted to preserve our equipment, supplies and investment. We are a non-profit organization. Members, guests or visitors who violate the Trosper Archery Club safety regulations will be prohibited from shooting on our ranges and their club membership will be revoked. If you have questions, problems or concerns, contact your current officers. General Provisions for All Range Users I will not shoot my bow in any sanctioned events, tournaments or leagues until I have used my best efforts to determine that my equipment is safe and mechanically sound. If I find that my equipment is malfunctioning and has become unsafe during a shooting session, I will stop shooting until the necessary repairs can be made. I will abide by the safety and shooting rules applicable for whichever type or style of archery I am shooting, on each site, field, range or lane I may shoot. At all archery events, I understand there will be a designated shooting line, stake or marker from which to shoot. I will at all times shoot from such designated marker, and when not shooting, I will remain a safe and reasonable distance behind such marker. I understand that when shooting in a group, one person in the group must be designated to pull arrows from the target after scoring. I also understand that the remainder of the group must remain a safe and reasonable distance away from the target to avoid injury to myself and others as arrows are being pulled.

I understand that my arrows or other equipment may be of the same color, size and style as many other archers and will therefore make a reasonable effort to provide some identification on my equipment. I will not knowingly shoot my bow or any other archery equipment which exceeds or fails to meet the minimum standards for the size, weight, speed or power (draw weight) requirements of the governing authority for a sanctioned shoot. Before participating in a sanctioned event, I will acquaint myself with the requirements of the particular club or organization enforcing the requirements. Should a conflict arise in safety rules, this Trosper Archery Club Safety Code will prevail. I will practice and promote this and any other codes established for providing archery and bow hunting safety and will inform and encourage all other archers to do the same. I will not consume alcoholic beverages prior to, nor during participation in, any archery event or activity. I will conduct myself in a sportsmanlike manner at all times and be courteous and considerate of my fellow archers. Indoor Range Provisions I understand and agree that I am responsible for unlocking, locking and keeping up with the locks at the Indoor Range. I will either lock the locks on the gate and door while I am in the Indoor Range or take the locks inside with me. When leaving as part of a group, all members should agree which member will lock the door and gate. At no time, will I leave guests at the Indoor Range when no members are present. I agree to sign in and pay my shooting fee each time I use the Trosper Archery Club Indoor Range. I will ensure that my guests also sign in and pay the appropriate guest fees prior to shooting at the Indoor Range. As a member of Trosper Archery Club, I understand that I may purchase annual Indoor Range Permit coupons for $40 that exempts me from having to pay the daily shooting fees for this range. I understand that each shooter at the Indoor Range with me must have either an Annual Permit or pay the appropriate daily fees. I will also wear, or display either my Trosper Quiver Tag or Annual Indoor Range Permit while on the range. Should I encounter another archer not displaying such identification or not having signed in and paid the daily shooting fees, I shall have the responsibility of allowing him to pay his appropriate shooting fee or asking him to leave the range.

I understand that Oklahoma City ordinances prohibit smoking at the range and I agree to abide by the No Smoking regulation. I understand that an ash can is provided outside the entry door and I will dispose of any smoking materials in said can. I will not litter the range in any manner whatsoever and will dispose of my trash in the containers provided. As needed, I will take the trash cans from the Indoor Range upstairs to the dumpster. I will return the key to where it hangs above the desk and make certain the upstairs dumpster is relocked. I also understand that Trosper Archery Club participates in aluminum can recycling and will dispose of my cans in the appropriate containers. I will not throw trash or any other materials in the toilets. I will help keep the restrooms clean and sanitary. I will notify an officer if restroom supplies need to be replenished. I will shoot my bow only in designated shooting areas, lanes and fields. I will not move in front of the shooting line until all archers have stepped away and laid their bows on the bow racks. I understand that no bow shall be pulled, with an arrow nocked on, while any person is in front of the shooting line. I understand that when practicing, I will shoot no more than five (5) arrows in one practice end. I will place my bow in the rack and return to the line. I understand that it is the responsibility of the shooter on each end of the shooting line to determine that all shooters have completed their practice end, signal to each other, and announce PULL before stepping out to retrieve my arrows. I will not allow any child of mine, nor my guests, to be left unattended at the range. All children must remain behind the shooting line at all times unless escorted by an adult to pull arrows. I will assure that children with me or my guests will not disrupt any other shooters. I understand that I may not sky draw any bow at the Indoor Range. I understand that this practice is unsafe and I will not shoot any bow with the poundage set that necessitates drawing in this manner. I understand shooting repeatedly at the same spot on the butts, will cause damage and I will move my target face as necessary to prevent such damage and to extend the life of the target butts. If I have shot through or missed the bale and must go behind the target wall to retrieve an arrow, I shall turn on the RED light provided to inform other archers not to shoot. After I have retrieved my arrow(s), I will turn the RED light off and proceed back to the shooting line. I will not shoot any broadhead arrows or crossbows at the Indoor Range nor allow any of my guests to do so.

I understand that the entire range will be closed for shooting practice during designated Work Parties, meetings, leagues and tournaments. Shooting may occur prior to and after completion of the listed events and meetings. I understand that I am also responsible for any spectator or guest I may bring to this range and will assure their compliance with these safety regulations. Outdoor Range Provisions I understand that I am responsible for locking and unlocking the gate at the Outdoor Range. I am responsible for the lock on the gate and will snap it shut so that it will not be stolen while I am on the range. I will wear or display either my Trosper Quiver Tag while on the range. Should I encounter another archer not displaying such identification, I shall have the responsibility of escorting him off the premises or allowing him to pay his appropriate shooting fee. I understand that absolutely no fireworks of any kind are permitted on the Outdoor Range at any time. I will not litter the grounds in any manner whatsoever and will dispose of my trash in the containers provided. I also understand that Trosper Archery Club participates in aluminum can recycling and will dispose of my cans in the appropriate containers. I will not throw trash or any other materials in the toilets. I will help keep the restrooms clean and sanitary. I will exercise extreme caution when smoking on the range. I will use the provided receptacles for disposal of smoking or chewing materials. I will not dispose of any smoking materials in trash barrels. I will not trample, destroy or abuse any flower, tree or shrub on the range. I will report any unsafe or low hanging branches or limbs to the Range Captain or a Club Officer for proper removal. I will shoot my bow only in designated shooting areas, lanes and fields. I will enter the ranges only through designated entrances and will not cut through or across any other shooting lanes or trails. I will never walk the trails in reverse due to the danger of walking in front of shooters. I will not hunt on any portion of the outdoor range, nor will I shoot any live animal or bird for sport or target practice. I understand that motorized vehicles are not to be driven anywhere inside the range boundaries (with the exception of those necessary for either maintenance or set up of an organized shoot).

I understand that no bow shall be pulled, with an arrow nocked on, in the parking area or concession area. I will not allow any child of mine, nor my guests, to roam the range unescorted. If there are children in my group who are not shooting, they will remain behind the shooting line at all times. I will assure that children in my group will not disrupt any other shooters. I understand that the Outdoor Range is divided into five areas: Field Range, Broad Head Pits, 3-D Range, Practice Range and Concession/Picnic Area. I will, therefore, shoot in the appropriate area for the type of archery I am shooting, and I will not set up my own target in an undesignated shooting lane. I understand that when shooting the practice bales, I will shoot no more than five (5) arrows in one practice end. I will place my bow in the rack and return to the line. I understand that it is the responsibility of the shooter on each end of the shooting line to determine that all shooters have completed their practice end, signal to each other, and announce PULL before stepping out to pull my arrows. No shooter will shoot while any archer is still forward of the shooting line. I understand that the Field Range targets require certain target faces for certain yardages. I will not shoot up a target or shoot repeatedly at the same target, from an inappropriate distance for purposes of sighting or for sport. If I have overshot a target or have lost an arrow, I will place my bow, or the appropriate flag, in front of my target while I am searching for arrows behind the target or butt. If I have used a flag, I will replace it in its holder when my target is clear. I will not shoot any broadhead arrows into any excelsior or hay bale on the range. I will shoot broadheads only in the dirt banks or sand pits designated for broadheads. I will not remove or replace any target face, from any target, without permission from the Range Captain or another Club Officer. I understand that the entire range will be closed for shooting practice during designated Work Parties, leagues and tournaments. I understand that I am also responsible for any spectator or guest I may bring to this Range and will assure their compliance with these safety regulations.
