Halloween Party The annual Basque Club of Utah Halloween Party was held on October 29. We had a full house, the food was great and everyone had a lot of fun! Thank you to Sonia Castañon and Tony Barajas for chairing the Halloween party. Also, thanks to everyone who helped set up and clean up the hall. The winner of the costume contest for the kids was Reese Johnson as a penguin from Mary Poppins. The winner of the costume contest for the adults, the whole Mary Poppins gang which included Brittany and Mike Johnson and family and Tim and Rhonda Spivey. Dancers Perform at Open House The Basque Club of Utah dancers, Utahko Triskalariak, were honored to be invited to perform at the Open House as part of the Grand Opening of the new Eccles Theater in downtown Salt Lake City. They gave two outstanding performances. Thanks to the dancers for their hard work and dedication to the art of Basque dance. Dancers to perform at Christkindlmarkt SLC The Basque Club of Utah dancers have been invited to perform at the Salt Lake Christkindlmarkt. The Christkindlmarkt is modeled after the world-famous German Christmas markets that happen in Germany every December. The market is based on the German story of St. Martin, who was known to cut his cloak in half and share its warm with a beggar. The Salt Lake Christkindlmarkt takes place at This is the Place Heritage Park, 2601 Sunnyside Ave S, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. At the market, visitors stroll through wooden vendor booths nestled against the magical backdrop of the park, where they can purchase tantalizing food and unique products while enjoying festive holiday entertainment. The market takes place on December 1 through 3. Hours are from 11 to 8 on Thursday & Friday and 10 to 8 on Saturday. The Utah ko Triskalariak will be performing on December 2 at 6:45 pm. Thanks so much to our dancers for representing our club in the community. See pictures on Page 5 of the newsletter. More info on the market is located here: http://www.christkindlmarkt-slc.com/ 2
