SHEEP Sheep Show is Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 3:00 P.M. Ownership dates for Wethers: May 15, 2018 (born on or after January 1, 2018). All exhibitors must abide by the Exhibitors Livestock Health Requirements. 1. All Market lambs will be weighed at Livestock Check In at 6:00 p.m., July 13, 2018. Exhibitors should be prepared to present health papers at time of weigh in. 2. Members may show one ewe in the market class if they do not have a wether. 3. All animals shown in market lamb classes must be sheared within 21 days of the show date and all wool must be the same length. Anyone unable to comply with shearing rule must notify Sheep Point of Contact 14 days prior to the show. 4. All sheep should be personally cared for by the 4 H member. If you need assistance in fitting your sheep, contact the Extension Office or a Sheep Point of Contact in advance of the show date. Animals exhibited in all breeding classes may be fitted. 5. Members are expected to be on time for all 4 H shows. For animal shows this means at the show area, in proper attire, with their animal ready and proper documentation for the animal. Class Champion/Reserve will be chosen from each breed class. GRAND/RESERVE CHAMPION SHEEP will be chosen from Breed Champions. Market Lamb (All Breeds) Ownership dates for Wethers: May 15, 2018 (born on or after January 1, 2018). 1. Market classes are the only sheep classes eligible for the 4 H Livestock Auction. 2. Lambs must weight a minimum of 80 lbs. to sell in the 4 H Livestock Auction. 3. Lambs in Weight Class 1 are not eligible for the 4 H Livestock Auction. 4. All exhibitors may have only 2 market wether (or one ewe) entries in the following classes. 5. Entries will be divided into up to 6 weight classes after official weighing. 6. Weight classes will be determined by Sheep Point of Contact. Weight Class 1 Weight Class 2 Weight Class 3 Weight Class 4 Weight Class 5 Weight Class 6 Less than 80 pounds. Not eligible for 4 H Livestock Auction Minimum weight of 80 pounds. Champion/Reserve will be chosen from each market weight class. GRAND/RESERVE CHAMPION will be chosen from Weight Class Champions. JEFFERSON COUNTY HOMEBRED AWARD Market Sheep which are bred and raised on Jefferson County 4 H exhibitor s farm. Grand Champion Market Sheep will be presented with this award if the animal was bred and raised on the Jefferson County 4 H exhibitor's farm. If not, award goes to the Reserve Grand Champion. If neither Grand nor Reserve Grand Champion does meet the criteria, the highest placing animal exhibited in both classes, which meet the criteria, will be returned to the show arena to compete for this award. 93

SWINE Swine Show is Sunday, July 15, 2018, at 7:00 P.M. All exhibitors must abide by the Exhibitors Livestock Health Requirements. Ownership dates for Swine is June 1, 2018. Barrows must be farrowed on or after January 15, 2018. Gilts must be farrowed on or after January 1, 2018. 1. Exhibitors MUST BE PRESENT to show health records during weigh in on Friday, July 13, 2018, at 8:00 P.M. NO HEALTH PAPERS; NO WEIGH IN!!! 2. All animals should be personally cared for by the 4 H member. 3. It is strongly recommended that all swine are vaccinated. Talk with your Vet about vaccinations. 4. The Swine Show will be a Non Terminal Show. 5. Breeding gilts will be divided into 3 weight classes as determined by the Point of Contact after official weighing. Gilts must weigh a minimum of 200 pounds. 6. Market hogs will be divided into 10 weight classes after official weighing. 7. Wood shavings will not be allowed in the Swine Barn. 8. Swine may be kept in the wether barn on wood shavings. Auction Swine must be moved to the swine barn by 4PM the night of the auction. Shavings must be cleaned up before animals are released after auction. 9. Members are expected to be on time for all 4 H shows. For animal shows this means at the show area, in proper attire, with their animal ready, and proper documentation for the animal. Breeding Gilt Entries will be divided into 3 weight classes after official weighing. Weight classes will be determined by Swine Point of Contact. Minimum weight for all entries is 200 pounds. Light Weights Medium Weights Heavy Weights Champion/Reserve will be chosen from each weight class. GRAND/RESERVE CHAMPION GILT will be chosen from Class Champions. Gilts exhibited in the Breeding Gilt Show are NOT eligible for the 4 H Livestock Auction. 94

Market Hog All breeds will be divided into 10 weight classes after official weighing. Market Hog Classes are subject to the number of entries and may be adjusted by the Swine Point of Contact. Depending on the number of entries, at least one (1) Market Hog Class will be a Gilt Class. Market Hog Class 1 Market Hog Class 6 Market Hog Class 2 Market Hog Class 7 Market Hog Class 3 Market Hog Class 8 Market Hog Class 4 Market Hog Class 9 Market Hog Class 5 Market Hog Class 10 Champion/Reserve will be chosen from each class. GRAND/RESERVE CHAMPION MARKET HOG will be chosen from Class Champions. JEFFERSON COUNTY HOMEBRED AWARD Swine which are bred and raised on Jefferson County 4 H exhibitor s farm. Grand Champion Market Barrow and Grand Champion Market Gilt will return to the show arena to compete for this award if they were bred and raised on the Jefferson County 4 H exhibitor's farm. If the Grand Champion of either does not meet the criteria, the next highest placing animal in the barrows and gilts, which meet the criteria, will be returned to the show arena to compete for this award. 95

GOATS Goat Show is Saturday, July 14, 2018, 7:00 P.M. All exhibitors must abide by the Exhibitors Livestock Health Requirements. All meat goats (Wethers and all breeding animals) must be owned by the exhibitor by May 15, 2018. Dairy (Kids and Yearlings not in milk) must be owned by exhibitor by June 1, 2018. Dairy (Milking Does) must be owned by exhibitor by January 1, 2018. Wethers must be born on or after October 1, 2017. 1. All Market Wethers will be weighed at Livestock Check In at 6:00 P.M., Friday, July 13, 2018. 2. Individual identification of each animal shall be by an ear tattoo or official metal or plastic tag. 3. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must be turned in at time of weigh in and paint branding. 4. Members are expected to be on time for all 4 H shows. For animal shows this means at the show area, in proper attire, with their animal ready and proper documentation for the animal. Must be wethers before arriving at the fairgrounds. All goat wethers must weigh at least 45 pounds to sell in the 4 H Livestock Auction. Class Champion/Reserve will be chosen from each weight class. GRAND/RESERVE CHAMPIONS will be chosen from Class Champions. Junior and Senior Showmanship Awards sponsored by Lueking Farms. JEFFERSON COUNTY HOMEBRED AWARD Goat Wethers which are bred and raised on Jefferson County 4 H exhibitor s farm. Grand Champion Market Wether will be presented with this award if the wether was bred and raised on the Jefferson County 4 H exhibitor's farm. If not, award goes to the Reserve Grand Champion. If neither Grand nor Reserve Grand Champion does meet the criteria, the highest placing animal exhibited in both classes, which meet the criteria, will be returned to the show arena to compete for this award.
