THIS WEEK: The Jacksonville Jaguars return to Alltel Stadium for a three-game homestand as they host AFC South rival Tennessee on Sunday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m. EST. The Jaguars, 3-0 at home in 2006, are one of only four NFL teams undefeated at home (Indianapolis, San Diego, Chicago) and have won nine of their last 11 home games. This will mark only the second time in franchise history the Jaguars will have three consecutive home games in successive weeks (2000). The Jaguars enter the game with a 4-3 record after claiming their first road win of the season last Sunday at Philadelphia, 13-6. The Jaguars defense held the NFL s top-ranked offense to only 227 total yards and two field goals. The Eagles entered the game averaging 417 yards and 28.6 points per game. Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew led a rushing attack that registered a season-high 209 yards on 46 carries. The Jaguars sacked Donovan McNabb four times and did not allow a score until late in the third quarter. This is a huge win for us. It was big, under difficult circumstances, and against a very talented football team, Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said. So we knew it was going to be tough circumstances against a good team on the road in their place with their crowd and all of that. It was a big win for us. Now we go home. We will be home for a while to start November, and it s nice to go back to work after a big victory like that. Guys are real happy right now and they should be. I m real proud of the locker room right now the players and the coaches and the effort that was given. The Jaguars and Titans have met 22 times in the regular season with the Titans leading the series, 12-10. The Jaguars have won three of the last four games and own a 3-3 mark against the Titans under head coach Jack Del Rio. The Titans enter the game on a two-game winning streak with wins at Washington and last week against Houston. The Jaguars have played the Houston/Tennessee franchise more than any other NFL team as they have met twice a year since 1995. The Jaguars swept the season series in 2005 with a 31-28 win on 11/20 at LP Field and a 40-13 win in the season-finale on 1/1/06 at Alltel Stadium. The Jaguars are looking to go 4-0 at home for only the second time in franchise history (1997). Following Sunday s game, the Jaguars will play a second consecutive AFC South game as Houston visits Alltel Stadium. Former Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin and the New York Giants visit Jacksonville on Monday, November 20. A LOOK AT THE AFC SOUTH 2006 AFC SOUTH DIVISION STANDINGS: The Jaguars have opened division play with losses on the road at Indianapolis and Houston. JAGUARS PICK UP ROAD WIN AT PHILADELPHIA, 13-6: The Jaguars improved to 4-3 overall with a 13-6 win at Philadelphia last Sunday. The Jaguars rushed for a season-high 209 yards, led by Fred Taylor s 103 yards, and held Philadelphia without a touchdown for the first time this season. The Eagles entered the game as the NFL s top-ranked offense, averaging 417 yards per game and 28.6 points, but the Jaguars held them to only 227 total yards and two field goals. The Eagles won the coin toss and elected to receive, but were forced to punt after three plays. David Garrard, starting for injured Byron Leftwich, engineered a seven-play, 48-yard opening drive for the Jaguars that culminated with a Fred Taylor 15-yard touchdown run. The Jaguars played stout defense as they did not allow an Eagles first down until the second quarter. Rookie Maurice Jones-Drew, who finished with 21 carries for 77 yards, fumbled late in the first quarter and the Eagles recovered on their 28-yard line. Rookie linebacker Clint Ingram sacked Donovan McNabb on first down and the Eagles were forced to punt two plays later. Following a Jaguars punt, McNabb directed a 11-play drive, but the Eagles failed to convert a fourth-and-five at the Jaguars 36- yard line. Bobby McCray and Rob Meier combined to sack McNabb on fourth down. On the ensuing possession, Taylor raced 54-yards to the end zone on first down, but the play was nullified on a holding call. The Jaguars took a 7-0 lead at the half. Both offenses stalled to open the second half and a punt gave the Jaguars the ball at the Eagles 46-yard line. Taylor raced 16 yards on first down and then Jones- Drew rushed six consecutive times for 19 yards. Garrard was sacked for a 11-yard loss and the Jaguars settled for a 40-yard field goal by Josh Scobee to increase the lead to 10-0. The Eagles answered with a 13-play, 59-yard drive that resulted in a 25-yard field goal by David Akers at the end of the third quarter. The Jaguars responded with a 11-play drive, highlighted by a 24-yard reception by Matt Jones, to set up a 27-yard field goal by Scobee. Both teams moved the ball on their next possessions, but couldn t produce any points. The Eagles got the ball back with 2:35 remaining and went 63 yards on 11 plays to set up a 28-yard field goal to cut the lead to six, 13-7. Akers onside kick was recovered by the Jaguars Daryl Smith to seal the win. LEFTOVER NOTES FROM WIN AT PHILADELPHIA: The Jaguars rushed for a season-high 209 yards on 46 carries, the 12th-most rushing yards in team history and most since the club had 221 at St. Louis on 10/30/05. The Jaguars have rushed for 200-plus yards five times since 2003. The 46 carries were the most since 9/25/05 at the New York Jets (47 carries, 139 yards). In addition, McNabb did not throw for a touchdown for only the fifth time since 2004. The Eagles entered the game having scored 20-plus points in each of their first seven games. Fred Taylor, who has 40 career 100-yard rushing games, went over the 100-yard mark for the second time in three games with 103 yards. Taylor finished with four runs of 10-plus yards. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS. TENNESSEE TITANS, NOVEMBER 5, 2006 SUNDAY S OPPONENT: Formerly the Houston Oilers, the Tennessee Titans were a charter member of the American Football League, starting play in 1960. They won the first two AFL Championships behind the duo of George Blanda and Charlie Hennigan, then lost the 1962 AFL title game. Behind the running of future Hall of Fame running back Earl Campbell, the Oilers advanced to conference championship games in 1978 and 79. They struggled again for a number of years, then advanced to the playoffs every season from 1987 to 1993, though losing in the first round of the playoffs five times and then falling to 2-14 in 1994. In 1995, they rebounded to a 7-9 record under coach Jeff Fisher, and were 8-8 for three straight seasons. The Oilers moved to Tennessee in 1997 and played in Memphis for a season before moving to Nashville and playing at Vanderbilt in 1998. In 1999, the Titans finished 13-3 and appeared in the AFC Championship game and advanced to the Super Bowl after beating Jacksonville. In 2000, they finished 13-3 again and won the AFC Central Division, before slipping to 7-9 in 2001. In 2002, they finished 11-5, winning the AFC South and advancing to the AFC Championship game before falling to Oakland. Tennessee won a wild-card playoff berth in 2003 after going 12-4. The Titans finished 5-11 2004 and 4-12 last year. THE SERIES: The Jaguars and Titans have met 22 times in the regular season with the Titans leading the series, 12-10. The Jaguars have won three of the last four games. The Jaguars have played the Houston/Tennessee franchise more than any other NFL team. The Titans won the clubs only postseason meeting, 33-14, in the 1999 AFC Championship Game at Alltel Stadium. In the first five years of the series, the home team lost eight of the 10 games, and then in 2000 and 2001, the home team won both games until 2002 when the Titans swept the series. The first four games of the series were while the franchise was in Houston The clubs met twice annually from 1996 to 2001 as members of the AFC Central where the Jaguars claimed two division titles (1998, 1999). The Jaguars snapped a five-game losing streak to the Titans on 9/26/04 at The Coliseum with a 15-12 win, the club s first-ever win at The Coliseum. The Jaguars swept the season series in 2005 with a 31-28 win on 11/20 at LP Field and a 40-13 win in the season-finale on 1/1/06 at Alltel Stadium. HEAD COACH JEFF FISHER: Jeff Fisher is in his 12th full season as the Titans head coach. He has posted a 99-90 record during his 12 seasons (he was interim coach for the final six games of 1994). Fisher has led the Titans to four playoff appearances (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003) including the franchise s first AFC championship in 1999 and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIV. Fisher owns the franchise record for victories by a head coach, surpassing Bum Phillips in 2000, and was the fourth-youngest head coach (46) since 1960 to reach the 90-win plateau. He ranks second behind Pittsburgh s Bill Cowher in seniority among current NFL head coaches. Fisher became only the fifth coach in NFL history to lead his team to consecutive 13-win seasons (1999, 2000). Fisher played defensive back for the Chicago Bears (1981-85) and holds club records for punt return yards in a season (509 in 1981) and punt returns in a season (58 in 1984). His 88-yard punt return for a touchdown in 1981was the Bears longest in 39 years. He did not score a touchdown last week at Philadelphia, snapping a streak of four consecutive games with a touchdown, tied for the third-longest streak in team history. Jones-Drew is the first running back to accomplish the feat since Fred Taylor did it in the final seven games of the 2000 season. Jones-Drew ranks tied for second among all rookies and ranks tied for fifth in the NFL in touchdowns. He scored the first two rushing touchdowns of his career against the New York Jets on 10/8 and added another rushing score at Houston on 10/22. He ranks tied for second in team history with five touchdowns as a rookie (Fred Taylor, 17; Matt Jones, 5). JONES-DREW CONTINUES TO IMPRESS: Quarterback Byron Leftwich nicknamed rookie running back Maurice Jones-Drew pinball during training camp for the way defenders bounce off of him. Jones Drew has added another dimension to the Jaguars offense in 2006 as he ranks second on the team in rushing with 62 carries for 264 yards with three rushing touchdowns and has 19 receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns, joining Reggie Williams (4) as the only Jaguars with multiple receiving touchdowns. A week after producing his first 100- yard rushing game at Indianapolis, Jones-Drew recorded a career-long 51-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter at Washington on 10/1. It was the longest play of the season for the Jaguars. The 51 yards marked the fourth-longest touchdown reception by a running back in team history with the last 50-plus touchdown reception by a running back coming on 10/17/04 vs. Kansas City (64t, Byron Leftwich to Fred Taylor). Jones-Drew had a career-high seven receptions for 58 yards at Houston on 10/22 along with a rushing touchdown. He recorded a career-high 21 carries for 77 yards last week at Philadelphia, the second-most rushing yards of his career. JONES-DREW PRODUCES BEST GAME IN AFC SOUTH OPENER: In his AFC South debut at Indianapolis on 9/24, Maurice Jones- Drew maneuvered his way to 103 rushing yards on only 13 carries (7.9 avg.) along with four receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown and 109 kickoff return yards. Jones-Drew finished with 244 all-purpose yards, the third-highest total in team history and the most by a rookie. He became the seventh player in team history to rush for 100-plus yards, the first rookie in the NFL in 2006, and joined Fred Taylor (1998, six 100-yard games) as the only rookies in team history to rush for 100 yards. Jones-Drew had four runs of 10-plus yards (11, 12, 18, 26). The 26-yard rush is the longest by a Jaguar in the first seven games. BIG HEN CLOGS UP THE MIDDLE: Defensive tackle John Henderson is regarded as one of the NFL s top defensive linemen and is a menace to opposing running backs. Henderson has recorded 370 tackles (287 solo), 22.0 sacks, 107 quarterback pressures, 27 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in his first five NFL seasons (71 games). Henderson ranks second on the team in 2006 with 3.5 sacks in the first seven games, surpassing his total of three sacks last year. He leads all AFC defensive tackles in sacks and ranks tied for fourth among all NFL defensive tackles. Additional notes on Henderson include: Henderson, the ninth overall pick in 2002, earned his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2004. He was the highest-drafted defensive lineman ever by Jaguars and second defensive tackle drafted overall in 2002. In 2004, Henderson posted a career-high 98 tackles and 40 quarterback pressures along with 5.5 sacks. He combined with defensive tackle Marcus Stroud in 2004 for 10 sacks, the third-best mark in the NFL among defensive tackle tandems. Ranks fifth in team history with 22.0 sacks in 71 career games. They have combined for 100 quarterback pressures in 68 games together (Stroud, 56; Henderson, 44). Stroud has missed the last three games with an ankle injury. The Jaguars, who had 184 quarterback pressures in 2005, have 68 through the first seven weeks of this season.

MEIER MAKES MOST OF OPPORTUNITY: Rob Meier mostly sees action as a reserve in the Jaguars defensive tackle rotation, but 18 of his 23 starts have been at defensive end. Meier sees action behind Pro Bowl tackles Marcus Stroud and John Henderson, but the opening day injury to Reggie Hayward moved Meier back into a starting role at LDE. He moved back inside and has started at DT the last three games with Stroud out with an injury. Meier, who was a seventh-round pick in 2000 from Washington State, ranked third on the team in 2005 with a career-high six sacks and led all AFC defensive tackles. He picked up where he left off in 2006 as he has recorded 2.5 sacks. Meier has played in 98 games with the Jaguars with 23 starts and has 13.0 sacks and 200 tackles. He started eight games at defensive end in 2004 before suffering a fractured fibula at Minnesota on 11/28. WILLIAMS AND GREISEN ADDED IN OFFSEASON: The Jaguars added a starting right cornerback and outside linebacker in the offseason. Brian Williams, an unrestricted free agent cornerback from Minnesota, gives the Jaguars a physical presence to play opposite Rashean Mathis. Williams had his first interception as a Jaguar against the New York Jets on 10/6 and his first interception against an AFC opponent. The Jaguars lost linebacker Akin Ayodele in free agency to the Cowboys and five-year veteran Nick Greisen earned the starting job in the preseason. Greisen was signed as an unrestricted free agent from the New York Giants in the offseason where he started 13 games a year ago and had a career-high 79 tackles. Greisen made his presence known in the season-opener against Dallas on 9/10 with his first career interception along with four tackles and one quarterback hit. MAKING THE COACH PROUD: As a former NFL linebacker, head coach Jack Del Rio can appreciate solid play from the position. Mike Peterson and Nick Greisen made their coach proud in the season-opener against Dallas on 9/10 as they both recorded interceptions, marking only the second time in team history (James Wiliams, Keith Goganious on 11/26/95 vs. Cincinnati) that two Jaguars linebackers recorded interceptions in the same game. The interception for Peterson was the 14th of his career and seventh with the Jaguars, the most of any linebacker in team history. It was Griesen s first career interception in 55 career games. WRIGHSTER HAVING BREAKOUT SEASON: Tight end George Wrighster, who has missed 13 games due to injuries since being drafted in the fourth round in 2003, ranks second on the team with a career-high 20 receptions for 148 yards along with one touchdown. Wrighster has multiple receptions in six of seven games. Wrighster has already surpassed his career-best receptions total of 13 set in 2003 and 2005. He had a career-high 53 yards receiving on five receptions at Washington on 10/1 and scored his first touchdown of the season against the New York Jets on 10/8. He played in only four games in 2004 because of a back injury and was placed on injured reserve. He is the second-highest tight end ever drafted by the Jaguars (Marcedes Lewis, 2006 first round). The second-lowest game was between San Francisco and the New York Giants in 1990 when the 49ers won, 7-3. In addition, the Steelers managed only 26 yards rushing, the fewest by a Jaguars opponent in team history. The 26 yards were the fewest rushing yards by the Steelers in 15 seasons under head coach Bill Cowher and the first time the Steelers have not picked up a first down rushing since 12/28/03 vs. Baltimore.

TIDBITS FROM THE REGULAR SEASON: The Jaguars improved to a NFL-best 9-3 (.750) in their 12-year history on Kickoff Weekend with a 24-17 win over Dallas on September 10, including a 3-1 mark under head coach Jack Del Rio. The Jaguars have won three consecutive season-openers for the first time since 1999-2001. The Jaguars defeated Pittsburgh, 9-0, on Monday, September 18, the lowest scoring game in Monday Night Football history. The nine total points also tied for the fewest points by two teams in Jaguars history. The Jaguars defeated Baltimore, 6-3, on 11/14/99 at Alltel Stadium. Neither team managed to score in the first half. The last time a NFL game was scoreless in the first half was the Jaguars game on 9/18/05 at Indianapolis. It was only the third scoreless half in the NFL since 2003. In 2005, the Jaguars defense held opponents scoreless in six different halves. Pittsburgh had only 26 rushing yards on 9/18, the fewest by a Jaguars opponent in franchise history. The Steelers had only 14 rushing attempts against the Jaguars, tied for third-fewest in team history by a Jaguars opponent. The fewest rushing attempts by a Jaguars opponent was 11 by Atlanta on 11/7/99. The Jaguars held the Steelers to 153 net yards, the third-fewest net yards allowed in team history. The Steelers became only the third opponent in Jaguars history (12/12/04 vs. Chicago; 12/21/03 vs. New Orleans) to not have a first down rushing. The Steelers picked up only nine first downs, tied for the fourth-fewest first downs allowed in Jaguars history. The Jaguars shut out the New York Jets, 41-0, on 10/8, marking the second-largest margin of victory in Jaguars history (48, 12/3/00 vs. Cleveland). The Jaguars held the New York Jets to 45 net passing yards on 10/8, the second-fewest by a Jaguars opponent in team history. The Jaguars scored 28 points in the first half against the Jets on 10/8, the second-most points in a first half in team history (42, at Baltimore, 11/1/98), and tying the for the third-most points in a half. Gerald Sensabaugh blocked a punt against the Jets on 10/8, the first blocked punt since 10/9/05 vs. Cincinnati (Derrick Wimbush). TALL TARGETS: When asked about the height of his offensive targets, six-foot-five quarterback Byron Leftwich said, We look like the Miami Heat when we get off the bus. They certainly measure up in size. The Jaguars have selected three receivers in the last three seasons and all three stand at six-foot-four or taller (2004, Reggie Williams, 6-4; 2004, Ernest Wilford, 6-4; 2005, Matt Jones, 6-6). The tight end position is also loaded with height as the top two tight ends stand six-foot-six in veteran Kyle Brady and 2006 first-round pick Marcedes Lewis. Six of the seven field goals were from 40-plus yards. He was 2-for-2 last week at Philadelphia (40,27) and was good from 43 and 40 yards against the New York Jets on 10/8 and 3-for-3 at Washington (46, 43, 41) on 10/1. He scored a season-high 12 points against the Redskins, including a 41-yard field goal with six seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. Scobee is 58 of 75 in his three-year career. Scobee was 7-of-13 from 40-plus yards including 2-of-3 from 50-plus yards in 2005. Scobee set a team-record against Cincinnati on Oct. 9, 2005 with two field goals of 50-plus yards (51, 53) and the 53 yards tied his career-high and the longest field goal in club history. Scobee, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 draft with the 137th overall pick, led the team with a career-high 107 points in 2005 and joined Fred Taylor and Mike Hollis as the only three Jaguars to have 100 points in a season. Two Jaguars are fortunate enough to return to their hometown of Jacksonville to play in the NFL. Cornerback Rashean Mathis, who played at Englewood High School, is in his fourth season with the team after his college career at Bethune-Cookman. Mathis, who leads the NFL in 2006 with four interceptions, led the club with five interceptions in 2005. Cornerback Dee Webb, a seventh-round pick in this year s draft, played at Ed White High School in Jacksonville before starting for two seasons at Florida.

FOUR ROOKIE UNDRAFTED FREE AGENTS ON CURRENT ROSTER: Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio has made it clear that an undrafted rookie free agent has an opportunity to make the final 53-man roster. Since Del Rio took over the helm in 2003, there have been 10 undrafted free agent rookies on the club s opening day roster. The Jaguars had three undrafted rookie free agents earn a spot in this year, tying for the most under Del Rio. Rookie free agent linebacker Brian Iwuh, who spent training camp with the Jaguars, was signed on September 22 off the practice squad. Brady is in his 12th NFL season, his eighth with the Jaguars. Brady, originally the ninth overall pick of the New York Jets in 1995, signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Jaguars in 1999. He has registered 330 career receptions for 3,418 yards and 23 TDs. He ranks as the secondoldest active tight end in the NFL behind Washington s Christian Fauria. Stroud has missed the last three games with an ankle injury. Stroud, who was the 13th overall pick by the Jaguars in the 2001 draft, ranks fourth in team history in consecutive games played and second in most consecutive starts (Brad Meester, 92 starts). Stroud, who has started the last three Pro Bowls, began the streak on September 8, 2002 against Indianapolis in his second NFL season. MOVING UP THE CHARTS: Several Jaguars are moving up in the team annals for games started and most consecutive starts. Jimmy Smith, who retired this offseason, started a team-record 150 games in a span of 10 seasons with the Jaguars. Running back Fred Taylor, safety Donovin Darius and tight end Kyle Brady are the only Jaguars who remain on the roster from 1999. Brad Meester, who was a second round pick by the Jaguars in 2000, had his team-record streak of 92 consecutive starts snapped in 2005. TIDBITS FROM THE JAGUARS LOCKERROOM: RB Fred Taylor, S Donovin Darius and TE Kyle Brady are the only three Jaguars that remain from the 1999 team. In addition, there are 13 players on the roster who were with the team prior to 2003. Jaguars guard Chris Naeole is one of five current NFL players from Kahuku High School in Hawaii. Kahuku joins Dillard (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), Ely (Pompano Beach, Fla.), Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) and Dorsey (Los Angeles, Calif.) as the high schools with a NFL-best five players in the NFL. Other players from Kahuku include Aaron Francisco (Arizona), Chris Kemoeatu (Pittsburgh), Ma ake Kemoeatu (Carolina) and Itula Mili (Seattle). Jaguars quarterback Quinn Gray played at Dillard. Rookie running back Montell Owens earned a roster spot as a rookie free agent from Maine, becoming only the fifth NFL player to play at Maine. Owens sent a highlight tape to Boston College, but the coaches thought he would be better off playing Division I-AA. Boston College sent the tape to Maine where they gave Owens his only scholarship offer. Owens is a musician in his spare time and is an accomplished trumpet player. WR Ernest Wilford has worn the number 19 since playing at Virginia Tech. Wilford had worn number 14 in high school but switched to number 19 at age 19 to signify a change in his lifestyle. It was the year I changed my life around, Wilford said. I don t want to say I had a troubled childhood, but I was just very outspoken. S Deon Grant grew up in Augusta, Ga., and worked as a server in the kitchen at Augusta National during The Masters. Grant was working when Tiger Woods won his first Masters in 1997. Jaguars 2006 draft picks Marcedes Lewis and Maurice Jones-Drew were not the only players from their high schools drafted in 2006. In fact, both players had two other high school teammates selected in this year s draft, tops among high schools. Lewis was joined by Darnell Bing (Safety, Oakland) and Winston Justice (OT, Philadelphia) from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Jones-Drew was the first player from nationally-ranked De La Salle High School (Concod, Calif.) selected, but was joined by teammates Kevin Simon (linebacker, Washington) and Demetrius Williams (WR, Baltimore) on the second day of the draft. The parents of WR Cortez Hankton serve as police officers in New Orleans. The Jaguars have three players on their roster from Hawaii (OG Chris Naeole, OG Vince Manuwai, WR Chad Owens). OT Stockar McDougle s brother, Jerome, was a first-round draft choice of Philadelphia in 2003 and remains on the roster. DT Rob Meier was the number one overall pick of the 2000 CFL Draft by British Columbia. Meier is one of two foreign born players on the roster (Reggie Williams, Landstuhl, Germany). LB Mike Peterson (injured reserve) is the brother of Chicago Bears running back Adrian Peterson. In addition, Mike s cousin, Freddie Solomon, played wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1995-1999. WR Cortez Hankton is the cousin of Carolina Panthers wide receiver Karl Hankton. QB Quinn Gray led the Frankfurt Galaxy to the World Bowl Championship in the spring of 2003. LB Nick Greisen is the second cousin of Redskins C Casey Rabach. DE Bobby McCray s father, Bobby McCray, Sr., is the head football coach at Homestead High School in Miami, Florida. JAGUARS STARTERS MADE UP OF HIGH DRAFT PICKS: The Jaguars 2006 starting lineup for offense and defense is stocked with former high NFL draft picks.
