PERFORMANCE AWARDS The Performance Awards are a marvelous program unique to the AAB. It was composed by our founder Mignon Furman, whose charming choreography is the main reason why ballet schools all over America, and in 10 overseas countries, have incorporated the program into their schools. The program is a delight to dance. It is a series of ballet compositions of increasing complexity. Dancers make remarkable progress in their technique, and enhance their stage presentation It is an option for dancers who are attending for longer than the Ballet Intensive weeks. They will receive extra coaching in the evenings, and perform their dances, which includes a solo dance, in a theater on campus before an audience. Parents and friends are welcome. Each dancer will receive a medal (gold or silver), and a certificate of achievement. Physical Therapy at Summer School The American Academy of Ballet offers onsite injury care sessions by a physical therapist. These sessions are meant to care for any minor strains sustained during the course of the dancer s participation at Summer School. The parents are not charged for these sessions. Once again, we advise dancers to be fit for Summer School. This will reduce the strain on muscles and tendons. EXISTING INJURIES If dancers come to Summer School with an existing injury we will make every effort for them to be seen by the physical therapist. For these sessions you will be charged a nominal fee of $65 a session. If the dancer has an existing injury, please click on the link below. https://goo.gl/forms/gbljifx4ionexhka2 If no injury exists, skip this section. Page 5
