4 2012 Australian Hay Mini Nationals Program On behalf of the Hay Shire Council, The Hay Tourism Office and The Mini Club of SA, welcome to the 45th Australian Hay Mini Nationals! I would firstly like to extend our sincere thanks to the event supporters and sponsors. In particular the Hay Shire Council, the Bidgee Motor Inn, and Shannons Insurance. Without their support the event would be impossible to run. Once again Ian and Stacey Lugsdin have kindly donated their land for us to use for the Motorkhana. Their generosity and willingness to help us all out is nothing short of inspirational and show the true spirit of the Hay people. This year will see the introduction of a series of new rules covering the competition arena. These changes were put together after quite a long consultative process with many people and to all those that provided feedback, we would like to extend our thanks. The Australian Hay Mini Nationals is truly the peoples event! We are also introducing a Welcome to Hay party on the Friday night at the New Crown Hotel where meals and drinks will be available. They will also be putting on music for us, so everyone is encouraged to come along and tell some stories from the journey over or yak about old times with mates from all over the country. We would also love you, the people who make up the Hay Mini Nationals to spread the word! You don t necessarily have to be a member of one of the clubs to enjoy Hay, all you need is a sense of adventure and a passion for one of the best cars on the road! 6 2012 Australian Hay Mini Nationals Program Hay A message from the Mayor A message from the Mayor 2012 AUSTRALIAN MINI NATIONALS For the last forty four years the June long weekend in Hay has been synonymous with the Australian Mini Nationals. As the 45 th gathering approaches, on behalf of the people of Hay I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all visiting Mini members. I have personally had some experience with the Mini having had an early Moke, before its retirement my children learnt to drive in it. When I got married my bride came with a Mini Cooper S, some cynics thought this was why I got married! Well to Mini enthusiasts what better reason? Some of you will have been to Hay on numerous occasions and will be well aware of the many well preserved secrets that our town, surrounding district, and villages have to offer. Might I suggest to new visitors that they visit our Visitors Information Centre for a full run down on what our area has to offer. Have a great weekend, enjoy our many amenities & hospitality. 36 2012 Australian Hay Mini Nationals Program 2012 Hay Mini Nationals Show and Shine 1. PARADE 11.00 am SATURDAY 9th JUNE All cars taking part in the parade will be required to assemble in the swimming pool car park, at the northern end of Lachlan Street. It is envisaged that each club will have a "lead club car" suitably decorated and identifying the club. All vehicles should report to the form-up area by 10.45am. Directly behind the "lead club car" will be all the Club's Best Presented Cars, followed by the other members' cars. There is no limit to the number of cars from any one club in the parade, nor for the Best Presented Cars. ALL CARS entered in the Best Presented Cars event MUST BE DRIVEN in the Parade. The parade will commence at 11.00am and will travel at 25 kph along Lachlan St, U turn in the vicinity of Brunker Street and head north down Lachlan St, then turn left into Leonard St and then left into Pine St, then left into Moppett St, where officials will direct all vehicles where to park. 2. BEST PRESENTED CARS 11:00am The event will be held on Moppett Street (closed road, bitumen surface). Entries are open to all Mini Club members. All entries must be on the official entry form which will be available on the day. The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to any vehicle in an EX- TREMELY poor appearance. Entries will be accepted on the day and close at 12noon. Judges will be scoring vehicles in each category in the following areas: (a) Exterior, including bright work 100 pts (b) Interior 100 pts (c) Under bonnet 100 pts (d) Boot 100 pts (e) Under body, wheels and tyres 100 pts In the "ORIGINAL" category there will be no points deducted for non-original items where the STYLE OF THESE ITEMS is in keeping with the style of the car or is a period accessory. This allowance is made to encourage owners of Minis with minor modifications to compete in the original category.
2012 Australian Hay Mini Nationals Program 37 Awards will be presented to each winner of the 7 categories. Best Original Morris Best Modified Morris Best Mini Derivative Best Original Leyland Best Modified Leyland Best B.M.W./Rover Mini People's Choice, voted by all spectators with voting slips available at the venue. Awards will be presented at the Presentation Party. Entrants have total responsibility for the security of their vehicle at all times. The organisers will not accept any liability in this matter. It is the entrant s responsibility to ensure their vehicle is entered in the correct category. Judging will be by a panel consisting of a suitable people as nominated by each club. Judges will pair up, then judge a category each then judge their partners category. Scores will be averaged to determine the winners. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the results. 2012 Hay Mini Nationals Motorkhana SUNDAY 10th JUNE CALLING ALL OFFICIALS! As you all know Officials are a big part of the Motorkhana, so in order to keep the day running smoothly, we would just like to remind you that each club will need to supply some officials. We will need to have a minimum of 3 officials per lane. If you can supply more than that, it would be great, so that they can swap over when needed. As a thank you to all officials you will be supplied with a lunch voucher that you will receive at the Officials briefing so please be at the Motorkhana grounds for the briefing on Sunday morning at 9.15am Thank you...your contribution is greatly appreciated!

Come along to the New Crown, Share some stories, tell some tall tales and catch up with friends from all over Australia that you may not have seen for a year! 2012 Australian Hay Mini Nationals Program 47 Hay Half Time. PLACE: Hay Services Club TIME: 7.30 pm Come and enjoy Hay Half Time at the Hay Services Club with us. It will be a great family friendly night where you will be able to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones. You ll also get to test your musical knowledge at the trivia quiz! A bus will be running to and from the Hay services club so you don't need to take your car if you don't want to. The bus will make pick ups from accommodation and along Lachlan Street. Fancy Dress Presentation Party PLACE: TIME: Hay Memorial Hall doors open at 8.00pm Presentations at 9:00pm THE BIG ONE!
