Starting in 2002, the Junior Girls golf Grant Program drives funds that are raised through a raffle of free rounds of golf provided by the golf course and donations from our member clubs and individuals. This program unites our members, clubs, and other golf facilities to bring in support and funding to award these junior golfers of their hard work in a sport they re passionate about. Since 2002, PWGA has raised over $140,000 in grants!
SACRAMENTOAREAGRANTRECIPIENTS Center HS Girls Golf Whitney High School Center High School Girls Golf: This season we broke several team records for 9-hole team scores and for our 18-hole team scores! Granted, we did not win any matches., but I am so proud of them taking the challenge and beating their own PR s and the team PR s from the last 5 years. This is a pretty good feat considering 4 of the 10 girls had never played before this year! All of this was made possible by the generous grant from the PWGA. We used the grant money towards several team lessons with the course Pro, and to purchase team t-shirts and team polos. Thank you so much for your support. My team just finished our first round of playoffs yesterday and the tournament was difficult on experienced players as there were teams there with absolutely no experience. I had to monitor, and I had a young lady (a senior) but first year playing golf who shot a 215. This tournament starts the no double par tournament and boy it was almost a 7-hour round. I had one experienced player and she suffered with the extremely slow play. There were 2 of us coaches herding these ladies along and looking for a million balls. We finish the season 16-0. We even won our two league tournaments. We came in 2nd at Sections and will be moving on. This next tournament is where we stop. All Divisions are there, and the team and individual scores will be mostly in the 70s. But it s always great to make it there each year. -Coach Sandy Weaver Vacaville HS Our season was great. Even with some hiccups (fires in area and an unfortunate rule calling) we won our 4th league title in a row. Prior to this, our school had not had a league title since 1999. We have used our Grant money to have money in our account and for uniforms and equipment. Thanks again for the opportunity. -Coach Justin Bassey Placer High School Girls Golf Team Placer High School girls golf team won both the Pioneer Valley League and D1V Section title. The grant money we received from PWGA was used to purchase uniforms. This photo was taken in October, where the girls recognized breast cancer awareness, hence the pink belt. Thank you, -Coach Carol French -Coach Laura Faber Roseville High School On behalf of myself and the members of the girls golf team at Roseville High School, we would like to thank you very much for your generous donation to help us purchase team hats and visors for our golf team this past year. Your contribution is greatly appreciated as it helps us outfit our teams during competition and also helps offset some of our major expenses such as green fees, range tokens, and tournament fees. This year we had another great turnout for the girl s golf team and we were able to field a full JV team with a full schedule of matches and tournaments for them. They were able to gain valuable experience on the golf course to prepare them for the Varsity level. For the Varsity team we had seven new girls playing Varsity golf for the first time as we graduated seven seniors last year, but the girls worked very hard to finish a very respectful 4th place out of 8 teams in the Capital Valley Conference. Carly Nicholson was our lone senior and completed her 4th year on the Varsity golf team. She qualified as an individual for the CIF-SJS Division 2 Golf Tournament and was First Team All-Conference in the Capital Valley Conference. In addition, Freshman Kayla Hary earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the Capital Valley Conference. Our program continues to grow and its success is largely due to the support we receive from your group as well as other organizations that help promote the game of golf for these young ladies. Once again thank you for your generous support and hope you all have a successful year as well. -Coach Corey Fukumar
GRANT RECIPIENTS BAY AREA GRANT RECIPIENTS San Lorenzo HS Girls Golf Team California HS Girls Golf Team Thank you for the donation to help fund our program. We had seven girls on the golf team this year and 5 were new to the game. Our season wasn t filled with a lot of victories, but we improved a ton and we are looking forward to continued growth next season. Your donation would help towards driving range balls and practice rounds as well as buying our new jackets. I have attached some photos of the young lady cougars and again thank you to Junior Girls Golf for this amazing grant. We finished up our season after attending the NCS Championship October 30th at Lone Tree Golf Course. My girls didn t play as well as they did for our EBAL league championship there a couple of weeks before (when 5 out of the 6 girls posted their best 18-hole score ever) but they had fun. We had additional expenses for the program this season, now the Bridges golf course is charging us to use the course. The PWGA grant came in handy to help with program costs. Thanks so much for your support and hit them straight! - Coach Shane Sutcliffe -Coach Jacque Bowman John Muir MS Girls Golf Team Granada High School Thank you so much for the grant last season. We won a few and had one of our girls make it to NCS. Our team is all beginners and are still learning. I used the grant money that you all so graciously gave us for lessons and to buy some team shirts. We had many girls play this past year 25 but only 9 played on Varsity as I said I have a lot of First time golfers. The league finals were cancelled in the middle of the tournament due to the hazardous air quality. I am very hopeful for this coming year with the middle school programs continuing to grow more golfers. Thank you again. As you can see our team uniforms looked fantastic on our girls as well so again thank you for all your help providing this as well for our girls. We were thrilled to have been selected last year as one of the PWGA recipients for this grant program. With these funds we were able to travel and play an 18-hole Lengfeld golf tournament with our team where we competed against 16 high schools and we finished in 3rd Place. It was a fantastic opportunity for our girls to meet and play with other high schools not in our conference, play a course we had not played before and it was also a great team bonding experience. Thank you PWGA for all you do and for helping us to create a fantastic opportunity for our team. We hope to be one of your lucky recipients again, so we can carry this tradition into our next season together as a team. -Coach Jan Othen - Laurie Christeson Coach Matt Robles
FRESNOAREA GRANTRECIPIENTS REDWOOD AREA GRANT RECIPIENTS Jesse Bethel Girls Golf Kerman MS Girls Golf We started with nothing and have come a long way from our first donation from PWGA. We want to thank you so much. As you can see in the picture, we have Nike jackets Nike collared shirts, brand new Titleist golf bags, great attitude, and we look like the other teams that we always wanted to be like. It s great to have the basics. Our golf team thanks the PWGA for helping us with a great season. Our team hasn t won a match in four years, but that win will come because you have helped us become a team. Thanks so much. First, I d like to say how grateful I am to the PWGA for choosing our team for such a generous grant. The money from the PWGA helped support our Girls Golf Program at Kerman Middle School and opened opportunities to athletes that may not have been available otherwise. My entire team started out as golf rookies with zero experience and in a few short months, they all turned into Real Golfers. The funds from the PWGA allowed my team access to the right tools to aid in their skill development and help them be successful golfers. I am very grateful and truly appreciate the generosity of the PWGA. I am excited to share some highlights from our season: KMS Golf finished 7th out of 12 teams in the Central Valley Athletic League for the season. The team played well in the championship match at Riverside Golf Course in October. Out of 44 players, Alysa took 11th, Julianna took 15th, and Chloe took 18th. I am proud of the girls; their positive attitudes were contagious to opponents, their excitement about learning new things made it fun to be a coach, and their tight nit bond with each other made our long van rides to practice a daily bonding experience. The family vibe feeling these girls brought every day with their strong work ethics made us a solid team, and for that, I am very proud! -Coach Dan Blankenship -Coach Brandy Chappell Madera High Girls Golf We had another successful season at Madera High School, qualifying for our 4th consecutive CIF Section Finals. Two of our girls finished as medalist in the Top 10 Jordan Gong (Freshman) finished in 8th place while Katie Gong (Junior) finished in 10th place. More importantly we had 13 girls participate in our program, most of them novice golfers, With the support our home course- Madera Golf and Country Club and organizations like yours we can continue to give these girls a positive experience that will lead them into enjoying the game for the rest of their lives. I received grant money from the Pacific Women s Golf Association to purchase items for our team this season. -Coach Scott McKinney Thomas Jefferson MS Our team had a pretty good season. We played 11 matches and won 6 of them. The girls were always very excited on match day, having the opportunity to get out of school, compete, and meet girls from other schools. One of our girls, Amelie Medellin, was the 6th place medalist at our league championship. Our team would ve finished second or third but one of our girls got sick right before we left school and so our team score didn t count. With the grant money, we paid for new hats/visors, screen printing for shirts, 5 dozen Wilson golf balls, and some training aids (putting rings and alignment sticks). Thank you very much for your support of our girls golf program. Coach Michael Roblee Chico HS Girls Golf Team Thank you for awarding us one of your PWGA Grants this season. We had a record number of 13 girls on our team this year. We finished 3rd in our league and 3rd in Section Championships. We had one of our players qualify to move on to the NorCal Championships in. The money we received for the grant helped us with our purchase of new uniforms and new golf bags this season. -Coach Randi Linnet Rodriguez HS Girls Golf This fall season, our girls golf team competed in 8 matches vs other schools and 1 tournament vs all schools in our league. Due to the North Bay fires, our season was cut a bit short. We should have competed in 10 matches and 2 tournaments. We play in a league with 5 other schools and we finished 5th place which is an improvement from last year. We appreciate the grant funds for our program. We used the funds to purchase polo shirts for the girls to use during practice and matches. -Coach Stephen Vassallo
STOCKTON AREA GRANT RECIPIENTS WE THANK OUR DONORS We couldn t do it without you Turlock HS Girls Golf Team As for the grant, we used some of it for team/individual lessons with our pro, Dave Harmon. We also added to our cold/wet weather collection. The funny things is, we were at the CIF Master s Tournament with perfect weather! It was the first time in fourteen years that we didn t have to worry about staying dry. As always, the PWGA Grant is a boost to our program and it really does play a big part in our success. -Coach Mary Krupka Airways GC Ancil Hoffman GC Anderson Tucker Oaks Arbuckle GC Bailey Creek GC Beau Pre GC Benbow Valley GC e Bennett Valley GC/ by Reecy Casamajor Black Oak GC Blue Rock Springs GC Buckingham GCC Canyon Oaks CC Castle Oaks GC Chuck Corica GC-City of Alameda Cinnabar Hills Cypress Lakes GC Dark Horse Davis GC Deep Cliff GC Dragonfly GC Eagle Valley Golf Emerald Lake GC Empire Ranch GC Greenhorn Creek GC Haggin Oaks GC-MacKenzie Half Moon Bay Golf Links Indian Creek GC Indian Valley GC Lake Almanor West GC Lincoln Hills GC Little River Golf and Tennis Los Lagos GC Manteca Park GC Mather GC 4 Metropolitan GC Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club 2 Mt.
