Mather Medical Officer: Dr. J. Cooney RACE 1: WESTSPEED 2YO PLATE - 1000M FIGHTERS SECOND (Jason Brown) Inconvenienced near the 600m and again passing the 550m and having to be restrained and taken outwards. SMALL AND SPICY (Patrick Carbery) Slow to begin. DUAL CITY (Alan Kennedy) Over-raced in the early stages. Trainer Mr Lindsey Smith advised that following the race the filly was found to be shin sore and would now be sent for a spell. Trainer was advised that under LR.64(c) the filly would not be permitted to start in a race for a period of six weeks. MISS SAFARI (Peter Knuckey) Raced wide on straightening and lay inwards over the final 100m. NINGALOO BLITZ (Shaun Mc Gruddy) When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that in his opinion the filly would be better suited to racing over an increased distance. Trainer Mr D. Morton agreed with the comments of the rider and further advised that the filly would be given a let up. MAKE ME BLUSH (Jason Whiting) Bumped and carried outwards near the 600m. MISELLE BLITZ (Damian Lane) Bumped and carried outwards near the 500m. Lay inwards in the straight. VELVET ASSASSIN (Craig Staples) Rider advised that the filly raced in a stop start manner throughout and appeared to baulk in the middle stages. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned with a laceration to the off hock. Trainer Mr P. Jordan advised that an endoscopic examination revealed some abnormalities and it would now undergo a lung wash and he would advise Stewards of the results. WESTERN FEVER (Takahide Ikenushi) - Commenced awkwardly. Restrained from heels near the 600m when tightened and then improved onto the heels of another runner passing the 550m and blundered unbalancing its rider. Returned with a minor laceration to the near fore. General: Stewards inquired into the reason for WESTERN FEVER (T. Ikenushi) being restrained near the 600m and then blundering from the heels of VELVET ASSASSIN (C. Staples) passing the 550m. It was established that VELVET ASSASSIN shifted inwards near the 600m when not fully clear of WESTERN FEVER causing that filly to be tightened and restrained. After this VELVET ASSASSIN, when racing greenly, lost momentum resulting in WESTERN FEVER contacting the heels of that filly and blundering causing its rider to be severely unbalanced. In relation to the incident at the 600m, Jockey C. Staples pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under ARR.137(a) and was subsequently suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days to commence from midnight 12 January 2011 and to expire at midnight 25 January 2011. Stewards deemed the reason for WESTERN FEVER blundering from the heels of VELVET ASSASSIN passing the 550m was due to VELVET

RACE 2: perthracing.com.au HANDICAP - 2200M BONDING (Tim Brown) Raced wide from the 700m. Returned with a minor laceration to the off fore cannon. REFLECTION (Duncan Miller) In regards to the unplaced performance, rider advised that the horse failed to settle throughout running and consequently was unable to finish the race off as expected. Trainer Mr A. Mathews advised that connections would give consideration to sending the horse for a spell and would advise Stewards of their decision. DEADLIEST (Jarrad Noske) A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer Mr S. Rowe was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to racing or trialling again. Trainer advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. NIGHT AT THE OPERA (Shaun Mc Gruddy) Returned with a minor laceration to the off hind. Plating Change: DEADLIEST Glue Shoes On RACE 3: playeronline.com.au HANDICAP - 1800M ONE COOL QUEEN (NZ) (Paul Harvey) When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider advised that when the pace quickened from the 600m the mare was unable to accelerate and failed to run on thereafter. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr Lindsey Smith advised that the mare would now be sent for a spell. REVISITED (Lisa Bivemark) Held up from on straightening until near the 250m. SHAMMA MAN (Takahide Ikenushi) Knuckled on jumping. Lay outwards when making the corner at the 400m. THE PUDGE (Jason Brown) Raced wide from the 600m. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, Trainer Mr N. Parnham advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. TOPI (Jarrad Noske) Unable to obtain clear running over the final 175m. RACE 4: BECOME A PERTH RACING MEMBER TODAY HANDICAP - 1200M BLACK NIJINSKY was a late withdrawal at 8.25am when Trainer Mr Simon Miller advised that the gelding had sustained an injury to its off fore suspensory ligament and would now be sent for a spell. Trainer was advised that the gelding will require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to trialling and will have to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. SECRET ENIGMA (Michael Grantham) - Returned having cast its near fore hind plate during running. BIG HOLD UP (NZ) (Patrick Carbery) - Rider advised that the gelding lay outwards from the 600m. GRAND PLATZ (Damian Lane) Dwelt at the start. When questioned regarding why the gelding raced in a rearward position today, rider explained that it had been slow to begin and consequently was unable to be placed in a prominent position as instructed. GOLDY JUNIOR (Kyra Yuill) Impeded over the concluding stages. PHILBY (Paul Harvey) When questioned regarding the reason for the gelding being positioned on the pace today, rider advised that after commencing well from its wide barrier he allowed the gelding to stride forward and due to the lack of early pace was able to race outside the leader ANSWERS ARE (Shaun Mc Gruddy) Reared in the barriers prior to the start and after being removed and undergoing a Veterinary examination was passed fit to start. SEMILLON (Danny Miller) Raced wide throughout. Due to the poor performance, Trainer Mr G. Jordan was advised to restrict the mare s immediate racing future to the provincial and country areas until its shows an improvement in its form.
ASCOT : 08.01.11 130/3 RACE 5: WESTSPEED 3YO HANDICAP - 1000M TRADE WATCH ($13) was fractious behind the barriers and then refused to be loaded and sustained a laceration to its near hind and was subsequently withdrawn by the Stewards at 3:45pm acting on Veterinary advice. All bets made on the filly were refunded. Deductions from winning bets were made in accordance with RWWA Rule of Wagering 56. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to be showing signs of being in season. Trainer Mr J. Byrne was advised that the filly would have to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. SOUND SYSTEM (Hayley Diener) - Commenced awkwardly. CARBINE STREET (Duncan Miller) When questioned, rider reported that the gelding had over-raced throughout and failed to settle which he attributed to it racing in winkers for the first time today and that he was of the opinion that this piece of gear should be removed for future starts. Trainer Mr J. Lugg will be contacted regarding the gelding s performance and racing manner. TIME TO CLIMB (Paul Harvey) Baulked from the whip of another rider throwing its head in the air passing the 100m and as a result lost momentum. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider advised that he placed the filly in a rearward position after commencing fairly and other runners had shown more pace to his inside and after responding to his riding in the early stages of the straight it had baulked from the whip of another rider near the 100m and then lost momentum and did not finish the race off. He further advised the filly may be better suited by racing over an increased distance. Trainer Mr T. Andrews will be contacted to discuss the filly s performance and his future intentions. MICKEY DRIPPIN (Peter Knuckey) Scrambled behind at the start. CAREFUL AFFAIR (Colin Haddon) Rider reported that the filly raced greenly throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer Mr T. Pike advised that the filly raced greenly and overreacted when racing to the inside of other runners in the middle stages and consequently became unbalanced and lost ground when making the corner passing the 600m. Lost ground when racing greenly passing the 500m. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CATCH A DREAM (Clint Harvey) - A post race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have returned with swelling to its near fore cannon. CAVES ROAD (Patrick Carbery) - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Lay inwards in the straight with the rider changing the whip to his left hand passing the 100m. RACE 6: RONALD KETT 40 YEAR MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP - 1100M DANCE ON BOARD (Andrew Masters) Raced wide throughout. GOLD ROCKS (Patrick Carbery) Threw its head and got it down as the start was effected and as a result lost ground. When questioned regarding the performance, rider explained that after losing ground at the start the mare then over-raced and was unable to finish the race off. Due to the mare s barrier manner Trainer Mr Simon Miller was advised that the mare would have to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again. Trainer advised that the mare would now be sent for a spell. Returned with a laceration above the near side eye which required suturing. ALCHEMIC (Shaun Mc Gruddy) Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. CHOPIN (Jessica Hill) Over-raced through the middle stages getting its head in the air passing the 800m. LEANONUS (Jarrad Noske) - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Raced wide from the 400m and lay inwards under pressure in the straight. SEE A VICTORY (Peter Knuckey) Held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight. Had difficulty in obtaining clear running from on straightening until leaving the 150m. RACE 7: ASSURED ASCOT QUAYS HANDICAP - 1200M SAYTORIO (Duncan Miller) - Commenced awkwardly. KIM TRADER (Damian Lane) Raced wide throughout.

CAVALLINO (Shaun Meeres) - Commenced awkwardly. AMBERSTROEM (Jason Whiting) Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 200m. IBRAHIMOVIC (Lisa Bivemark) Held up for clear running on straightening. RACE 8: ASCOT CORPORATE VILLAS HANDICAP - 1500M An objection lodged by Apprentice D. Lane rider of the second placed BORN TO BE BAD. against KENMARETTE (P. Harvey) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 100m was upheld with the amended placings being: 1 st BORN TO BE BAD 2 nd KENMARETTE 3 rd WHALAH (P. Knuckey) 4 th COMPARISION (J. Brown) 5 th GIVE ME WINGS (R. Hill) KENMARETTE Impeded approaching the 100m and shortly after was taken inwards and made contact with another runner on two occasions. SPEECH ROOM (Jarrad Noske) Dwelt at the start. GIVE ME WINGS (Ryan Hill) Raced wide throughout. PUERTO GALERA (Peter Hall) Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 200m. NOVEMBER RED (Jason Whiting) Blocked for clear running for the entire length of the straight. I DON'T RECALL (Patrick Carbery) Shifted inwards and bumped at the start. LIKE WILDFIRE (Duncan Miller) Crowded at the start. Raced wide from the 600m. BORN TO BE BAD Bumped and carried inwards near the 100m and was then held tight and again bumped near the 75m and unbalanced. TIGHT BELT (NZ) (Craig Staples) Raced wide from the 600m. INTRIGUED (Kyra Yuill) Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Gear Change: HASTE Nose Band Off General: Jockey P. Harvey (KENMARETTE) was reprimanded for careless riding under ARR.137(a) for angling his mount inwards near the 100m to obtain clear running causing BORN TO BE BAD (D. Lane) to be bumped and unbalanced on two occasions resulting in that gelding being carried inwards. GENERAL Routine specimens were taken from all winners, and Race 8. KENMARETTE (2 nd ).
