TO: AIBA National Member Federations DATE: April 15, 2011 Dear Presidents and Secretaries General, It is my great pleasure to extend an invitation to all AIBA National Member Federations to participate to the AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships which will be held from July 20 July 31, 2011 in Astana, Kazakhstan. This will be the second AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships following the great success of the first AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships organized in 2009. Junior level boxing is crucial to build the future of the elite boxing level and AIBA is highly pleased with the increasing number of participation at the grassroots level. AIBA would like to continue this development in the stunning city of Astana, capital of Kazakhstan to show case the future talent in boxing. 5. Eligibility of Boxer and Weight Category A. Boxers who were born between January 1, 1995 December 31, 1996 are eligible to participate (ages 15-16) B. Junior Championships will be staged in 13 Weight Categories: 44 46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 80+kg. 6. Number of Rounds Three (3) rounds of two (2) minutes, one (1) minute rest between rounds. 7. Scoring System New AIBA Scoring System will be used. 8. Referees & Judges All Referees & Judges will be selected by AIBA. 9. Registration A. Boxers: AIBA affiliated National Federations can send only one (1) boxer in each weight category who is already registered in the AIBA database One (1) reserve boxer per weight category may be entered in the final entry form. It is also permissible for a nation to substitute one (1) boxer for another at any time up to the close of the General Weigh-In and the Medical Examination, provided that the substitute boxer has been entered as a reserved one for that weight category or any other weight category All other cases of substitution shall be finalized the day before the General Weigh-In. B. Number of Team Officials: Each team can have the following number of officials in its delegation: o 1-3 boxers: 2 coaches o 4-7 boxers: 3 coaches o 8-13 boxers: 4 coaches 7
All coaches must have the AIBA certification which AIBA will check at the time of registration as without the AIBA certification, they will not be allowed to enter this event In addition, each team may be accompanied by one (1) team manager, one (1) team doctor and one (1) physiotherapist Only coaches and boxers are allowed to enter the boxers locker rooms. 10. Requirements A. All Boxers must bring to the General Weigh-In the following documents: Record Book with annual medicals duly completed Passport Accreditation Card B. Each Team Delegation must bring the following: National flag 1x 1.50m every participating country National anthem (on MP3 or CD) every participating country C. Boxer s Uniform: Each boxer must bring two sets of uniform The colors of these two sets of uniform must be completely different. 11. Boxing Equipment The LOC will provide AIBA approved and licensed boxing gloves, headguards and hand bandages to all boxers for all bouts. Both boxing gloves and headguards are compulsory official items which all boxers must wear and not their personal ones. 12. Transportation A. Airport Reception: All participants will be welcomed at Astana Airport. B. Ground Transportation: There will be a welcome desk to guide all teams to the ground transportation The LOC will provide local transportation between Hotel, Competition Venue and Training Venue(s) during the Championships Period The LOC will also provide local transportation for all departures 8
13. Accommodation for Team Delegations A. Room Rates for Team Delegations are as follows: For double occupancy (2 persons per room) o US$ 50 per person, per day, including 3 meals For single occupancy (1 person per room) o US$ 70 per person, per day, including 3 meals B. Payment of Hotel Room Charges: All delegations must pay the full room charges at the time of registration in CASH and US$ only as the Organizing Committee will not be able to accept any other form of payment On arrival, the team delegations must make the full payment for the entire Championships period July 20 to July 31, 2011 Delegations will not be allowed to receive accreditations and hotel room keys if they do not clear the payment of full hotel room charges first. C. Check-In and Check-Out: The room rates provided for the competition only apply from July 20 to July 31, 2011 Team Delegations choosing to arrive earlier and/or stay longer than the Championships Period must pay a room rate of US$ 120 per person, per day, including 3 meals. D. Extra Team Officials: No Extra Team Official is allowed to stay at the Team Delegation Hotel LOC assistance can only be given in finding rooms in a different hotel than the Team Delegation Hotel Extra Team Officials: o US$ 120 per person, per day, including 3 meals 14. Insurance All participants are requested to get their own travel and medical insurance. LOC will provide a liability insurance only at the Competition Venue for all participants. 15. Medical Care The LOC will provide medical care and first-aid during the entire event to all participants who suffer from a sport injury (contracted during the event). 9
16. Doping Control Doping control shall be conducted in accordance with the AIBA Anti-Doping Rules and following the World Anti-Doping Code under the supervision of the AIBA Medical and Anti-Doping Sub-Commission. 17. Medals Gold, Silver and 2 (two) Bronze Medals will be awarded along with diplomas to the winners in each weight category 18. Training Facility The LOC will provide required training facilities (information will be provided upon arrival). 19. Final Registration Form A. The deadline for final registration is Friday, June 10, 2011 B. No pre-registration form is required thus please fill only the attached Final Registration Form which is the only way to register. 20. Visa The LOC will grant assistance to all delegations on Visa matters. 10
