3 Rule E4.2.6 KZ4 E4.2.6 KZ4 Maximum Licence rating Tier 2 unless over 30 years of age. For KSNZ approved Series Rounds only. 125cc reed valve engine as homologated by the CIK for the KZ2 class with the homologated gearbox ratios, homologated exhaust pipe and a CIK homologated inlet silencer and exhaust silencer for the respective engine. Carburettor components limited to: #50 throttle valve, K8 mixture needle, DQ 265 main spray nozzle, CD1 idle diffuser, #50 idle jet, #150 or #155 high speed jet, #300 needle valve A spec 50mm O/D rear axle 1020mm in length supplied by the promoter of the ProKart Series must be used. The axle must be marked Prokart on the left hand side. Carbon fibre hubs prohibited. MAW: 186 kg. Fuel: Pump petrol (Rule L4.1) Tyre restricted class. (Rule L3.5) For further information (Rule N3, N4, N5 and N6) Rules for this class are under the control of KartSport New Zealand Executive. The KartSport New Zealand Executive reserves the right to alter the class specifications to ensure fairness of competition, safety and the wishes of the competitors. Rear axle clarification. Rule J2.3 PACE CARS AND SAFETY CARS J2.3 PACE CARS AND SAFETY CARS are only allowed to be used on MotorSport New Zealand (MSNZ) circuits, driven by qualified MSNZ personnel at approved MSNZ and KartSport New Zealand events. Safety Car intervention is under the full control of the MSNZ Officials. Pace cars are required to be manned by two crew members, the passenger will have two-way radio communication with the MSNZ Officials and KartSport New Zealand Clerk of the Course. Pace cars are required to be fitted with operational high intensity LED lights that comply with Motorsport New Zealand requirements. Lights must be securely mounted to the roof of the vehicle. These lights must be operated when the car is on track along with the vehicle s hazard lights. Karts must remain a minimum of 100 meters behind the Pace Car at all times. Full instructions will be given to competitors at the KartSport New Zealand drivers briefing by the Race Officials. The Chief Steward s decision on the suitability of the pace car and the suitability and effectiveness of the roof mounted flashing lights will be final. Implementation Date: Reasons: Addition of Pace Car to assist in assessing track conditions before the start is signalled, especially in wet weather. 3

4 Rule J2.7.1 OUT GRID PROCEDURE SPRINT: J2.7.1 SPRINT: The field of karts must form on the Out Grid in their allocated grid positions. At all events each competitor is only permitted one person (Exception: Twin-engined direct drive karts which may have two pushers.) with them on the Out Grid and this person must leave the Out Grid area once the last kart has gone out the gate. There will be no spectator access to, or spectating from, the Out Grid. Once a kart is placed on the Out Grid, trolleys and tools (except external starters and tyre pressure gauges) must be immediately removed from the Out Grid area and placed in the area for trolley parking. No kart may be worked on (except for checking/reducing tyre pressures) while on the Out Grid. The Pit Marshal may indicate that the field will leave the Out Grid at any time for a wholly push started field. For other fields the Pit Marshal will advise Clutches Raise Your Arm Start Engines. Single engines have thirty seconds (exception ClubSport 120 have 60 seconds) and twin engines 60 seconds in which to start. When the engine is started the competitor will lower their arm. The Pit Marshal shall indicate that the field will leave the Out Grid either when all have started or when the time is up. Competitors failing to start an engine must keep their arm raised and remain static until the field has left the Out Grid. Only if they can leave the Out Grid before the last of the field crosses the No Go line on this rolling lap may they do so. Karts which are not under motive power upon reaching the No Go line shall be removed from the track to a safe place. Starting karts may not be moved backwards after crossing the line of the Out Grid exit gate. Immediate (safety) Extension of Rule already in place for most Group A, B and E events to all events. Reduce congestion and enhance safety on the Out Grid. Rule K1.23 OVERFLOW CONTAINER K1.23 OVERFLOW CONTAINER: Overflows from carburettors/gearboxes/gear cases and radiators must be ventilated into a suitable leak proof container(s) of adequate capacity for the engine/carburettor used (minimum capacity: 130 ml for carburettors/gearboxes/gear cases and 25 ml for radiators). The container(s) must have a removable top cap and access hole(s) for tubes only and be securely fastened to the kart. Overflow hoses must be leak proof without splits. A single 6mm maximum diameter vent hole is permitted in the top cap or the top of container. For the Briggs & Stratton LO206 engine only, the crankcase/breather overflow container (minimum capacity 130ml) is permitted to have two 6mm vent holes in the top cap or top of the container. KZ2: Either a crankcase breather catch tank fitted directly to the crankcase vent or a container used as per K1.23 above. One of these two options must be used. 5 Rule K1.40 FRONT CONSOLE (Nassau Panel) K1.40 FRONT CONSOLE (Nassau Panel): Must be fitted and must be made of a non-metallic material. Cadet ROK and Vortex Mini ROK classes must use either a currently or previously CSAI or CIK-FIA (for Group 3) homologated Front Console. For Cadet 900 chassis see Rule K3.10. For Mini 950 chassis see Rule K5.7. All other Sprint classes must use a previously or currently CIK-FIA homologated (for Groups 1 and 2) Front Console. Exception: A homologated Front Console is not required for Cadet Raket. It must not be located above the horizontal plane through the top of the steering wheel. (See line on drawing) It must allow a gap of at least 50mm between it and the steering wheel (see H on drawing) and must not protrude beyond the front of the nose cone To align the rule to how karts are now supplied by manufacturers. New Rule K5 Chassis Mini 950 Add the following new Rule: K5 CHASSIS MINI 950 Exactly as for Sprint Karts (K1) unless otherwise specified. K5.1 GENERAL: Mini class chassis either currently or previously homologated by CIK-FIA (Group 3) or CSAI. Homologation chassis plate must be visible and legible. K5.2 MATERIALS: No magnesium, magnesium alloy, titanium, kevlar or carbon fibre parts in any way shape or form are allowed unless otherwise specified. A magnesium engine mount is permitted. 5

6 K5.3 CHASSIS: Number of tubes: 6, positioned as per the respective homologation form. Anti-roll/torsion bars not permitted. Frame tube size; 28 x 2mm +/- 0.1mm. Tube made from magnetic steel (Rule M8). Maximum of 2 rear axle bearings. K5.4 WHEELBASE: Fixed, 950mm +/- 5mm. K5.5 WIDTH: 1100mm maximum. K5.6 REAR AXLE: Tubular, maximum external diameter: 30mm. Minimum wall thickness: 4.9mm at all points except keyways. Length: 960mm +/- 10mm. Weight: 2,900gm +/- 100gm. Made from magnetic steel (Rule M8). K5.7 BODYWORK: Must be fitted. Either currently or previously CIK-FIA (for Group 3) or CSAI homologated Nose Cone: Minimum width 850mm, maximum width is the external width of the front wheel/axle unit. Rule K1.42 for fitting details. Push Back Nose Cones: At all Group A, B, C and E events the mounting kit and clearances noted in Rule K will apply Front Console: Minimum width 200mm, maximum width 300mm Side Pods: Must be fitted using their respective homologated bars and attachment systems. Rule K1.43 for fitting details Rear Protection Pod: Gap between rear wheels surface and pod: 15mm minimum, 50mm maximum. Minimum width 1040mm. Ground clearance: 25mm minimum, 60mm maximum in a minimum of 3 spaces of a width of 200mm minimum situated in the extension of the rear wheels and the centre of the chassis. Rear overhang: 400mm maximum. In all conditions the rear pod must not protrude beyond the external plane of the rear wheels. K5.8 TYRES: Tyre restricted class, (Rule L3.5). TBC May19 K5.9 WHEELS: Made of aluminium or magnesium only. Internal rim width (tyre mounting width). Front rims - TBC May19 Rear rims - TBC May for Group F (Club Day) competition for all competition. 7 Rule M3.1 FUEL TESTING USING A DIGATRON DT-15 or DT-47 FUEL TESTER M3.1 FUEL TESTING USING A DIGATRON DT-15 or DT-47 FUEL TESTER Turn the instrument on and allow it to warm up at least 15 minutes before doing any testing. Do not use if LO BAT appears on the screen. Replace batteries. (DT-15 Only) Insert the sensor into Cyclohexane (C6H12) base and adjust the instrument to read -55. (The -55 reading is the zero adjustment for testing.) (DT-47 Refer to the manufacturer s instructions for manual calibration) Note: When inserting the sensor into the Cyclohexane (C6H12) and any fuel samples, agitate the sensor to release any trapped air bubbles. Insert the sensor into the fuel tank ensuring there is sufficient fuel to cover the sensor. If the reading is zero or a negative number, the fuel is legal. If the reading is above zero (a positive number) the fuel is deemed illegal. If a fuel sample tests illegal, the following procedure should be used - (a) Clean the tester sensor with aerosol brake clean, Allow the sensor to dry for approx 30 sec. (b) Check the reading of the instrument in Cyclohexane, if it does not read -55 then recalibrate. (c) Recheck fuel sample, checking the temperature of the sample and the Cyclohexane is within 5 deg C / 41 F. Additional tests may be used if deemed necessary by the Chief Technical Officer or Chief Steward. Note: It is important that the temperature of the fuel being tested and the temperature of the Cyclohexane (C6H12) are within 5 C / 41 F of each other. The zero adjustment point should be checked in the Cyclohexane every minutes and readjusted to read -55 as necessary. Clarification as the Digatron displays the temperature reading in Fahrenheit. New Rule - M14 Chassis Tubing Wall Thickness and Rear Axle Wall Thickness Testing. Add the following new Rule: M14 CHASSIS TUBE WALL THICKNESS AND REAR AXLE WALL THICKNESS TESTING: Testing can be carried out at events by a KartSport New Zealand appointed certified testing organisation(s) to check karts comply with our chassis tubing wall thickness rules and rear axle thickness rules. This testing can be carried out at any time using an Ultrasonic Thickness Testing Instrument supplied and operated by a KartSport New Zealand appointed certified testing organisation(s). The chassis tubing wall thickness tests will be carried out on the top and sides of the chassis tubing on straight sections of tube every 50mm 100mm and away from any bends, lugs, welds or obvious defects. Painted and coated surfaces do not affect the test equipment s ability to read the thickness measurement of the steel. Rear axle wall thickness tests will be carried out away from any key way slots or holes or obvious axle defects every 50mm 100mm along the length of the axle. The tests will be carried out in a secure area with a Technical Officer present during the testing process. Competitors and/or Guardians in the case of a minor will be shown the results of any tests that do not comply with our rules. The test results from chassis tubing wall thickness and rear axle wall thickness testing are a Judge of Fact and cannot be protested. Clarification of the test method to be used to check existing dimensions. Eg Rules K1.46, K3.3, K3.7, K5.3, K5.6, S3.11, etc. Penalty as per C

8 Rule N2.7.5 Vortex ROK DVS Vent Tube N2.7.5 Vent Tube: The two carburettor vent fittings can either be connected with an air vent hose, minimum length 155mm (The location of the hose opening has to be placed at the rear of the carburettor at the top of the vent hose) or the two carburettor vent fittings can be connected with hoses as per Rule K1.23. One of the above options must be used. Clarification. To align with our other engine rules that allow the use an air vent hose to be used. Rule N6.5 KZ2 CARBURETTOR N6.5 CARBURETTOR: Must be the Dellorto VHSH 30. Maximum venturi diameter 30 mm (no tolerance allowed). The carburettor must remain strictly original. The only settings allowed may be made to: the slide, the needle, the floaters, the float chamber, the needle shaft (spray), the jets and the needle kit, subject to all the interchanged parts being original Dellorto parts. The incorporated fuel filter and the plate (part #28 on the drawing on the following page) may be removed; if they are kept, they must be original. The two carburettor vent fittings can either be connected with an air vent hose, minimum length 155mm (The location of the hose opening has to be placed at the rear of the carburettor at the top of the vent hose) or the two carburettor vent fittings can be connected with hoses as per Rule K1.23. 9 Rule N10.13 Vortex Kiwi Mini ROK IGNITION SYSTEM and WIRING LOOM: N10.13 IGNITION SYSTEM and WIRING LOOM: Vortex OEM wiring loom, connectors and start/stop buttons must be used. No repairs permitted except: The HT lead may be shortened as a repair. The loom wire connectors to the coil may be replaced/repaired with like for like components. The loom wire ground terminal on the ignition harness may be replaced/repaired with like for like components. The green start and red stop buttons may be replaced with Vortex OEM or aftermarket buttons mounted in the original mounting position. HT lead must not have a join. Stator mounting ring must be Vortex OEM. All mounting bolts must be in original condition. Selettra Coil Part The Vortex factory applied KSNZ fern logo must be present. The Coil must be mounted on the Vortex OEM mounting bracket (old or new version permitted). Stator must have CSAI 01/ACZ/14 homologation mark. Plug Cap PVL Ignition timing must be 3mm + 0.1mm before TDC. (see M11) Respective RPM Limiter must be connected: Cadet Rok RPM, blue CSAI 01/ACZ/14/ The Vortex factory applied KSNZ fern logo must be present. Vortex Mini Rok RPM, green CSAI 01/ACZ/14/ The Vortex factory applied KSNZ fern logo must be present. The RPM Limiter must be mounted on the back of the seat with the KSNZ fern logo facing towards the rear of the kart. Foam padding must be used to line the interior of the RPM Limiter mounting bracket. The temperature of the RPM limiter must be at ambient (as determined by the Judge of Fact). KartSport New Zealand may use various test methods/equipment to determine the conformity of the ignition system. Photos unchanged To allow aftermarket start/stop buttons to be used. Rule N12.24 Rotax Max Clutch N12.24 CLUTCH: Both clutch element versions (item 6 with or without holes) as in illustration are legal to be used. O-Ring (item 11 must be used). Old version clutch element (item 3) can be either untreated or nitrated configuration and must show the wording Rotax. New clutch drum (Rotax #659937) is permitted, both versions of the clutch drum (item 7) must show the wording Rotax. For 11 tooth sprocket, either the plain bearing (Rotax # , 15x17x20) or (15x17x17.6 Rotax # ) must be fitted without any O-ring or Sealed needle cage bearing (15x19x17, Rotax # ) must be fitted with O-ring (12x2.5, Rotax # ). Non Genuine Rotax Max 17 tooth Drive Sprockets are permitted for SuperKart competition only. Drawings and photos unchanged. New rule P7 NATIONAL ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS Add the following new rule: P7 NATIONAL ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS P7.1 ALLOCATION: KartSport New Zealand will allocate hosting rights for a maximum of three Rounds (minimum one Round) per annum based on applications from Clubs with suitable tracks (ie with approved Service Lane), two rounds in North Island and one round in South Island. P7.2 ROUND FORMAT: The electronic timing/lap scoring system will be used. One 8-minute Time Trial. One 4-hour race. 10

11 P7.3 TIME TRIAL: One eight-minute session. If not previously sealed/marked, competitor s tyres, chassis and engine(s) will be marked at the end of the Time Trial. Any kart which crosses the line of the Out- Grid exit gate to the circuit will be deemed to have started the Time Trial. Karts must enter the Pit Shute from the track end in order to have this marking applied by Officials. No pitting or outside assistance is allowed during the Time Trial. The timing and length of Time Trial will be managed by the Official Timekeeper. The Time Trial period will begin when the first kart is recorded as having commenced its first timed lap. Karts which commence their final lap before the end of the 8-minute period will have their final lap recorded. For Ties see P1.12. Competitors are responsible for the secure attachment of transponders to their karts. Only times recorded using transponders will be permitted. Karts which start the Time Trial but do not complete a timed lap will be permitted to start from the rear of the field. If several karts fail to complete a timed lap their grid positions will be determined by drawing lots. Both classes will participate in the Time Trial together and will be gridded together, fastest to the front. Only one competitor per team may participate in the Time Trial. The Service Lane will be closed for the duration of the Time Trial. P7.4 FOUR HOUR RACE: (Rule J2.23). Each of the three team competitors must complete at least 60 minutes on track during the four-hour race. Pit stops will be a minimum of 3 minutes as recorded by the My-Laps timing loop at the Finish Line. Only driver changes are permitted in the Service Lane. All work on kart including chain lube, tyre changes, repairs, adjustments and refuelling must be undertaken in the Service Park. Only gravity fed refuelling permitted (no pressurised systems). Same kart fuel tank must be used for the entire race. Full-course Yellow and/or a Pace Kart maybe employed to enable the recovery of karts and rotation of Flag Marshalls during the race. If used, these will be used under the strict control of the Race Director and as detailed in the event Supplementary Rules and at Drivers Briefing. Kart recovery protocol must be strictly adhered to. Offending Team(s) will be immediately excluded from the race. The Full-course Yellow and/or Pace Kart will not be deployed after the 3 hours 50 minutes mark. After 3 hours 50 minutes stopped karts will be moved to a safe position adjacent to where they stopped. One set of Dry tyres and one set of Wet tyres per kart from Time Trials onward. Drive through penalties may be utilised. See Round Supplementary Rules for details. P7.5 FINISHER: (Rule J2.22) P7.6 EXCLUSION Technical Infringements (see C9.4): At any time during competition may result in the immediate exclusion from the event. Competition Infringements: Time Trial: No time awarded for Time Trial. If excluded from Time Trial start at rear of the field. Final: No result. If for a technical infringement a competitor is removed from the results and all competitors move up. P7.7 TIES: To decide Grid: Use second best Qualifying time. Fastest to the front. If still equal toss a coin. Result of Final: Drivers are equal. P7.8 ENTRY FEE (per Round): Per team (3 competitors): $300 (incl GST) per class (all retained by host Club). An Ambulance Fee, Security, Tyre and Fuel Testing Levy and Competitions Levy, if applicable, are in addition to this fee. 11

12 P7.19 CLASSES: ClubSport LO206 Light: Minimum weight combined of all three team members including full race apparel to be used by respective drivers: 250kg Minimum weight at end of Time Trial: 155kg Maximum fuel tank size: 9.5 litres. ClubSport LO206 Heavy: Minimum weight combined of all three team members including full race apparel to be used by respective drivers: 310kg Minimum weight at end of Time Trial: 175kg Maximum fuel tank size: 9.5 litres. P7.20 CLOSING DATES FOR ENTRIES: The Early Closing Date for entries will be no later than 28 days prior to the first day of the event. The host Club may accept Late Entries at its discretion up until a minimum of 10 working days prior to the first day of competition. However, Rule Q2 and Q3 will be applied based on the entries received by the Early Closing Date. The host Club must publish, in the Entry Form, the last date and time that Late Entries will be accepted. Late Entry Date must be at least 10 working days prior to Day 1 of the event to allow for Dry tyre deliveries. Field will be capped to the respective track limit(s). Entries for Round 1 will be accepted on a first in, first served basis. Teams who contested prior Rounds will have entry priority for subsequent Rounds providing they enter by the respective Early Closing Date(s). P7.21 PROGRAMME (this is a one-day event) (Check Supplementary Rules for official times.) Confirmation of entry, Engine seal distribution.
