1 38th Annual Troy Lucich Memorial Polar Bear Softball Tournament USSSA/GSL MEN'S Presented by: Boise Parks and Recreation Sponsored by: GTS (Game Time Sports) Willow Lane Athletic Complex, Fort Boise Park and Ann Morrison Park April 6-8, 2018 USSSA/GSL RULES APPLY (with noted exceptions) - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: 1. Bats must be USSSA approved and have the NEW PERMANENT USSSA MARK on the taper. 2. No metal cleats. 3. Line-up card required at pre-game captain's meeting with umpire. A team may insert an additional hitter (1) or hitters (2) into its line-up. The batting order must remain constant; however, any O of the 11 or 12 players can take a defensive position throughout the game. A team may start with 9 players with an out taken in 0th spot of batting order. 4. Home team detennined by coin flip. (Championship Game- Home team is the undefeated team, F game will be coin mv., 5. Game start time is forfeit time. 6. Pitches must arc at least 3 feet and no more than O feet before passing any part of home plate Count, no courtesy foul ball 8. Home run limits: l,ppn - 5 and progressive, Middle - Three (3) plus DHH, Lo" er - One () plus DHH. DHH (Designated Home Run Hitter) Player who, without penalty, may hit a homerun every time at bat. Teams must designate their DHH prior to the start of the game. Should the DHH be walked (intentional or not) the next person to hit a home run may do so without penalt) until the DHH's spot comes back in the lineup. Any HR beyond the limit is an out. Batter does not need to advance to first base. Teams are responsible for retrieving balls hit outside the field of play- VOl' GET 'Ei\l OR WE DON'T PLA V! 9. Courtesy Runner: May be anyone on the roster and may be used unlimited times for one player per inning. No substitution for a courtesy runner. 10. Run rule: Upper- 20 after 5 innings- No flip-flop rule. Middle/- 20 after 3 innings, 15 after 4 innings, 10 after 5 innings- No flip-flop rule. 11. Game length: hour and 10 minutes or 7 innings, whichever comes first. No new inning shall begin after \; 0, unless game is tied (USSSA/GSL rules apply for tie.) Exception Championship games shall have no time limit. (Game length subject to change, due to inclement weather.) 12. Pool Play Tie Breaker: ) Head to head. 2) Total runs scored. 3) Least runs allowed. 13. Score shall be kept by both teams. Home team is official book. Umpires shall record final score on scorecard. MPORT ANT: Tournament Committee has discretion to move teams up or down for bracket play. 14. All protests and team/player disqualifications will be reviewed by committee (tournament director, umpire-in-chief, & umpire involved). 15. Casual ProfanitytUnsportsmanlike Conduct: Any team member in a game using casual profanity or unsportsmanlike language (expletives not directed at an umpire or opposing player and loud enough to be heard by spectators will result in an out being called against offending team as follows: ) f a team is at bat, next batter will be declared out. 2) f act is committed by a player remaining at bat, player will be called out. 3)!fact is committed by defensive team, first batter in next inning will be declared out. 4) Outs will be treated as a delayed dead ball situation. 5) f violation occurs in bottom oflast inning, where fielding team may not bat again, ejection rule will apply. 6) A game may be ended by a casual profanitylunsportsmanlike language out. MPORTANT NOTES: Game schedule and brackets will be posted at ALL sites for tournament play. n the e, ent of inclement weather, teams must be ready to play one hour prior to scheduled game time. Tournament format is subject to change at tournament director andlor UC discretion. Game length may be shortened andfor pitch count reduced to complete games. A player can be on only ONE (1) team's permanent tournament roster. No changes may be made after the tournament starts. The tournament director reseives the right to make exceptions. A team s permitted to temporarily pick-up a maximum of THREE (3) players under the following conditions: Pick-up player must be an eligible roster member from an ASA/USSSA registered team in local association (daho) and no longer eligible for Championship play, cannot be from a team that has qualified for Nationals. Pick-up player cannot play in a class higher than that of the highest class in your division. Example: f you are playing in the Coed Middle division with teams classified C4-C7, a pick-up player cannot come from a C1, C2 or C3team. Pick-up player's legally regtstered team is not participating in same tournament.
