1 MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa 1st Annual Cornhole Championships Official Rules September 24, Participation is open to all ticket purchasers. Limited to fourteen (14) teams only. Two (2) members per team. 2. Must be 21 years of age or older to attend and participate. 3. Participants will check in for the Tournament on September 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at the MontBleu Outdoor Event Center. 4. A total of three (3) referees will officiate the Tournament which will be subject to Regulations outlined starting on page two (2) of these Official Rules. 5. The top three (3) teams will be announced immediately following the Tournament. 6. Winners must be present to win with a valid photo identification and Trop Advantage card. Trop Advantage cards are free and available at the Cashier & Trop Advantage Center. 7. Winners are responsible for all taxes and fees and must complete a 1099 tax form when accepting prizes. 8. Over $5,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded as follows: 1 st Place: Valued at $3,000 $500 Cash Gold Pass for the MontBleu Showroom two (2) tickets valid to each show for one (1) year. Valued at $2,000. One (1) night stay accommodation per team member subject to availability. Valued at $300. Dinner for two (2) at Ciera Steak + Chophouse. Valued at $ nd Place: Valued at $1,520 $300 Cash VIP table and bottle service at Opal two (2) bottles. Valued at $800. One (1) night stay accommodation per team member subject to availability. Valued at $200. Four (4) entry passes to Opal. Valued at $80. Buffet for two (2). Valued at $50. Prizes are non-transferable and non-negotiable. Winners will be presented with prize certificates containing additional details and restrictions on prizes won. MontBleu reserves all rights. All decisions regarding rules and/or conflicts shall be made at MontBleu s sole discretion. All decisions are final. Participation in this promotion is the attendee s agreement to and acceptance of the Promotional Rules. Participation grants permission to use participants name and likeness for promotional purposes without compensation from MontBleu. MontBleu reserves the right to change, cancel or modify this promotion without prior notice to the public. Participants waive and release MontBleu from any and all liability and should any legal action arise under this promotion it shall be filed in the Douglas County, Nevada. Page 1 of 6

2 Lake Tahoe Cornhole Championship Regulations Length of game The game shall be played to the pre-determined number of twenty-one (21) points. The first team to reach (or exceed) that amount at the conclusion of a frame is the winner or the team with the highest score at the end of the allotted time per match, twenty-five (25) minutes, wins. In case of a tie at the end of allotted time, a sudden death period will be played by the next scheduled tossers. Game Setup Team A competes against Team B each team is comprised of two (2) players. Each team will stay in their designated lane for the whole game. Players at the headboard will alternate pitching bags until each player has pitched all four (4) of his/her bags. Players at the footboard will take score and resume pitching back to the other cornhole board. Terms Woody Refers to any cornhole bag that has been pitched and remains on the cornhole board playing surface at the conclusion of the frame. Cornhole Refers to any cornhole bag that has been pitched and passes through the cornhole board hole at any time within the frame. Foul Bags Refers to any cornhole bag that has not been determined as a woody or cornhole, or was designated a foul bag as the result of rules violation. Any bag pitched without at least one (1) foot or appendage completely inside the pitcher s box at the time of release. Any bag not pitched within the fifteen (15) second time limit. A bag pitched from a different pitcher s box than their designated pitcher s box. Any bag that contacted the court or the ground before coming to rest on the playing surface. Page 2 of 6

3 Any bag that comes to rest touching the ground and the board. Any bag which struck a previously defined object such as a tree limb, wire, indoor court ceiling, etc. Scoring Cancellation of scoring The approved method of scoring for the sport of cornhole is cancellation scoring. In cancellation scoring, the points of one (1) player cancel out the points of their opponent. Using this method, only one (1) player/team can score in each frame. Woody Each woody is worth one (1) point Cornhole Each cornhole is worth three (3) points Example: Red achieves one (1) woody and two (2) cornholes during the frame (7 total points) Blue achieves two (2) woodies and zero (0) cornholes during the frame (2 total points) 7 points 2 points = Red scores 5 points for that frame Recording Score No cornhole bags shall be moved before the scoring is determined. If this decision is in doubt, an official will be called to determine the scoring for the frame. Pitching Players alternate pitching bags, one (1) player at a time, until each player has pitched all four (4) of his/her bags. A player must pitch all four (4) cornhole bags from their designated cornhole pitchers box. Players must deliver the bag with an under-hand release. One (1) foot or appendage must be completely within the pitcher s box at the time of releasing the bag. When pitching a bag, players must release the bag before any part of the player s body touches the ground on or beyond the foul line. Page 3 of 6

4 Pitching Next Frame The player/team who scored in the preceding frame shall pitch first in the next frame. If neither player/team scores, the player/team who pitched first in the preceding frame shall retain first pitch in the next frame. Pitching Out of Turn If a player pitches out of turn at any time during a frame, their pitch will be considered a Foul Bag and swept from the playing surface. If the out-of-turn bag affects any bags in play, their opponent has the option of returning all cornhole bags to their original position on the playing surface or leaving all bags as they are. If the error is not discovered until after two (2) cornhole bags have been pitched, the frame shall continue and be score accordingly. If no agreement can be reached, a Certified Official shall be called. The Certified Official shall either determine the scoring or void the inning and order it to be re-pitched. Touching Bags Before Frame is Complete If any bags in scoring positions (woodies or cornholes) are touched by a player, whether intentionally or unintentionally, before all bags during the frame are pitched, the frame is over. The o ending team (team who touches the bags) forfeits all remaining bags and tallies the score for the bags they have already thrown during the frame The non-o ending team tallies twelve (12) points as if they had thrown four (4) cornholes during the frame. IMPORTANT NOTE: 12 points are NOT automatically added the overall score (scoreboard). The 12 points are only used within this specific frame before cancellation. Example: Red has thrown three (3) bags equaling five (5) points to this point in the frame Blue has thrown three (3) bags equaling eight (8) points to this point in the frame Blue accidentally reaches down and grabs the bags The frame is over Blue s remaining bag is declared dead and their previous points are tallied Red tallies twelve (12) points for the frame, as if they had thrown cornholes Page 4 of 6

5 12 Red points - 8 Blue points Red scores 4 points for that frame Time Limits - Pitching & Scoring Pitching A player must pitch each cornhole bag within fifteen (15) seconds of their opponent s bag coming to rest. In Singles play, once the final bag comes to a rest, each player has thirty (30) seconds to walk to the other end, pick up their bags, and ready themselves to pitch. Scoring The frame will be scored five (5) seconds after the last bag is pitched, comes to rest, and all bags on the playing surface have stopped moving. Any bag that moves in position after five (5) seconds will be scored based on its previous position. If timing cannot be agreed on, the Certified Official will score or negate the frame. Sportsmanship If players do not show quality sportsmanship they will be ejected from the tournament. Official have all rights to eject teams at any given time for showing poor sportsmanship. No team will be refunded entry fee if ejected. Prohibited Items: NO outside food or beverage items NO alcohol or flasks NO bags LARGER than a standard backpack- 12x12in. 6 NO animals or pets NO flammable lanterns or fire of any kind NO fireworks or any types of explosives NO skateboards, scooters, or personalized motor vehicles NO bicycles inside the grounds NO wagons or carts of any type NO outside cans or cups NO lasers or pointers NO soliciting NO drones or UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicle) NO ins and outs (re-entry) Allowed Items: YES cigarettes and e-cigarettes YES Go-Pros YES bags that are a standard size backpack or smaller - 12x12in.
