1 Oregon School Activities Association SW Parkway Avenue, Suite 1 Wilsonville, OR fax: Tournament - Schedule and Staging Athletic Directors and Coaches: This year the OSAA/U.S. Bank/Les Schwab Tires Wrestling State Championships will feature a new wrestler staging system that is intended to increase efficiency and save time for everyone involved. This change has a direct impact how the attached tournament schedule looks when compared to past tournament schedules that many of you have become accustomed to. The tournament will be administered using TrackWrestling and this affords staff the opportunity to stage bouts to mats on an as available basis. Bouts will no longer be pre-assigned to a specific mat. Instead, each classification is assigned a block of mats that may fluctuate during the tournament. The attached schedule provides a general outline of when each round of the tournament within specific classification levels will be contested. The times noted on the side of the schedule are based on previous tournaments and should be considered approximations at best as these are the maximum times needed. The new system should accelerate the staging process thus reducing the overall time needed to complete each round. When a bout ends on a mat the new system will assign a new bout to that mat and those wrestlers will be staged. We will continue to use the same exact process as previous years. The, 3A, and will be staged from the North side of the Georgia Pacific Room and the and 5A from the South side. Coaches and wrestlers will be constantly updated via a scrolling staging schedule that will be displayed in the arena bowl and staging room. The scroll will indicate which bouts are currently on a mat, which bouts are on deck, and those in the hole. Wrestlers will be expected to report to the staging area prior to their assigned bout. Staging personnel will be directing wrestlers from that point. Coaches and wrestlers reporting directly to a mat will be asked to return to the staging room. Bout numbers have been separated to help everyone discriminate which classification is on each mat.
