When it came time to pick my costume, I knew that I wanted to be Walker Texas Ranger. I wore boots, jeans, a long sleeved shirt, a leather vest, a Silver Star, and a cowboy hat but no mustache.

Through the years, I have worn other costumes including a witch and vampire, but my favorite will always be Walker Texas Ranger. from the normal fairy and ninja to more unusual costumes.

The Florida Youth Council is excited about this edition of The Noodle. With the end of October comes Halloween. In light of this, FYC members were asked about their favorite Halloween costumes. Their answers range Texas Ranger to the Rescue By Christina Waldron My favorite Halloween costume growing up was Walker Texas Ranger. Every Saturday night, my grandfather and I watched Chuck Norris as Walker Texas Ranger. It was our favorite show and we never missed it. When it came time to pick my costume, I knew that I wanted to be Walker Texas Ranger. I wore boots, jeans, a long sleeved shirt, a leather vest, a Silver Star, and a cowboy hat but no mustache. The best part was I won a Best Costume contest at our Halloween skating party. Who knows, you may get an idea or two for your costume. Princess, Fairy or Nun? By Iris Roberts My favorite Halloween costume when I was very young was either a Princess or a Fairy. I was always told being the youngest of the family made me mommy s little Princess/ Fairy. As I got older, my favorite Halloween costume was a Nun. Why you are probably asking? Because it was ironic for me since I was always, and I mean always, talking. Nuns traditionally take a vow of silence as a sign of baptism. The coolest costume I ever saw was a walking Whack-a-Mole. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. It made me want to run to the nearest arcade.

The best part was that it had a hat that was the stem of the pumpkin. I was by far the cutest baby at my mom s work that Halloween. The second costume that comes to my mind is a vampire.

2 Three is the Right Number By Alex Brown When I think about my Halloween costume growing up there are only three costumes that come to mind. The first one is one that I wore when I was only two or three years old. My parents bought me a pumpkin costume. I must say I was pretty cute. It was bright orange and had a smiling face. The best part was that it had a hat that was the stem of the pumpkin. I was by far the cutest baby at my mom s work that Halloween. The second costume that comes to my mind is a vampire. I am not talking about a glittery vampire; I am talking about a scary vampire. The reason that this comes to mind is because I wore a vampire costume for at the very least 3 different Halloweens. I remember the formula. Fake teeth, white face paint, a little red face paint, black pants, black cape, and a white collared shirt. I always thought I was the coolest kid on block when dressed as a vampire. I don t really remember why I wore it so often, but I know that I enjoyed being a vampire. The third Halloween costume I remember was the last costume I wore. Three years ago I went a Halloween party with my friend. I was dressed as Mario while he was Luigi. It was awesome. Everyone thought My Everyday Costume By Derek Carraway I never really cared that much about Halloween growing up because I didn t particularly like to dress up and I didn t care for candy and still don t care for it. It seemed to be the only goal at the end of the dress up was to get some candy, which I always just gave to my mom and dad to eat. At some point though, I don t remember how I got it, I had a Superman costume that I really did enjoy wearing. My mom bought me all the Superman movies and I must have watched them all a hundred times a piece. So I really fell in love with Superman and pretended to be him every chance I got, so the costume really helped fulfill this fantasy. When I outgrew the costume I was very sad when my mom would not allow me to wear it anymore. But at least she didn t throw it away. I still have that costume hanging in my closet as a fond memory of my childhood. we nailed our costumes. I don t really see how because at the time I was sporting my mustache, which looked more like peach fuzz than a Mario full mustache. The best part was that at the party someone else was dressed as Toad. As I am looking back, I am not sure why only these three costumes come to mind. I am pretty sure that there were others. I guess I will have to ask my mom to find out about the rest.

I am the Ninja By Josue Tapia Ortiz Halloween is an interesting holiday. October itself is an interesting month full of candy and scary movies and weather changes.

That was the best costume I ever wore for Halloween. It covered my whole body from head to toe in black. The only opening it had was for me to see and breath. It was awesome.

3 I am the Ninja By Josue Tapia Ortiz Halloween is an interesting holiday. October itself is an interesting month full of candy and scary movies and weather changes. But the event that happens on the 31st of October is what you remember the most: the day you get to be the person of your dreams. On that day I became a ninja!!! Yeah, you read right, a ninja. That was the best costume I ever wore for Halloween. It covered my whole body from head to toe in black. The only opening it had was for me to see and breath. It was awesome. It also came with a sword and three ninja stars. I put the sword on my back of course and hid the stars in my trusty trick or treat bag. I was ready to see what monster or heroes I was going to encounter that night. The year was 1994 and I was super into martial arts and samurai movies that I would watch with my dad. All that month all I could think about was being a ninja and fighting crime and whatnot; the wait was driving me nuts! When the night came and I dressed up and headed out my mom told me Don t worry about anything, you are a ninja and nothing can stop you. Oh why did she say that? That whole night I was in a trance. I really believed I was ninja. I actually tippy- toed from house to house so that the other kids wouldn t notice me. But one did the vampire kid. This kid lived in the same building I did and also went to the same school. He was one of those know it all little kids who think they re always right. He was annoying and this given night he had peaked. I was walking away from him when he said Hey have you ever seen a vampire and a ninja fight? I said no but bravely said a ninja is not afraid of a bat! He looked at me and grabbed each side of his cape and expanded them as if to have wings, so I did a somersault took my sword out and made an X mark on his chest and then gestured as if to spike him in the heart with my sword. At the end he fell and made a sound and faked his death and two seconds later got up and said Wow you got me. I said Well ninjas are faster than vampires so I ll always win, and left it at that. Then he smiled and said ok ok, and we went home. Yes it was that simple. It was the 90s and he was a classmate. Hahahaha that ninja costume was my favorite costume and I can t believe I still remember it, too. That goes to show you, I love ninjas!

4 The Hulk and Silver Surfer By Chris Regan While growing up, I ve had the opportunity every Halloween to try on lots of different cool costumes. I also got to see the ones that everyone else had on when I was trickor-treating. My favorite one that I wore, however, was the one year when I was The Hulk. To make it look like I had lots of extra muscles, my parents put Styrofoam padding inside of a Hulk costume. I was very little at the time, like around 10, so I looked incredibly awkward. Nevertheless, it was a load of fun. I even had special Hulk boxing gloves that made sound effects whenever I punched something. It was around the time the movie Hulk was being released, so it was an extra treat that I got to see it about a month later. The best costume I ve seen on someone else was an outfit inspired by the Silver Surfer. This guy was dressed in silver pants, and a silver sweatshirt, and was wearing silver shades while riding on a completely silver skateboard. I had never seen anything like it before. He was doing all sorts of tricks like ollies, front grabs, rail slides, and board flips. I wanted to dress like that guy next Halloween, but my parents didn t want to spray-paint my clothes. Plus, I didn t even know how to skateboard. Oh, well. I still had fun and that s all that counts. Now that I m much, much older, I don t go out trick-or-treating anymore, but I still help my parents hand out candy. I still get to see all the costumes of the people who trick-or-treat. Some are typical, like princesses, pirates, and superheroes. Others, though, are much more exotic. Costumes or not, though, you can t beat the candy that gets handed out for free one day a year on Halloween. It doesn t hurt to unleash your inner child and still have fun. Making my Costume Made All the Difference By Nick Grabowski My favorite costumes differ quite greatly. First, there is the one I made (with tons and tons of help) and the one I saw as a child. The one I made was for a prom in high school that was themed for the Roaring Twenties, so I decided I should make and wear a zoot suit (reused several times since including for Halloween.) Basically it was just an over-sized suit with pinstripes and a very large tie. Thanks to a good friend we made it from old clothes of mine. But this get-up wasn t done without a very wide brim fedora. This was my favorite costume since my Power Ranger one when I was a kid, but it was great in that I helped make it. But when I put more thought into it I realized what my favorite of all time is. It was when I visited Nickelodeon s theme park for Halloween as a kid and saw somebody in a Reptar costume. My world changed when I realized someday perhaps I could look like Reptar too. Maybe I will at some point get that costume, but for now no such luck.

I was wondering, what was your favorite Halloween costume as a kid? -Halloween Enthusiast Well Halloween Enthusiast, thank you for your letter. I am honored that you would choose to dress like me for Halloween. I have one piece of advice for you: don t look too much like me because I would hate for you to actually be mistaken for me. I would hate for you to be arrested because the FBI think that you are me. But moving on What was my favorite halloween costume as a kid? That is a great question. There was the year I went as a werewolf tamer with real werewolves, but that didn t end well. There was the year I went as a ghost, but it turns out that making yourself translucent really freaks people out. Then there was the time I went as a clown no that gave me nightmares. I got it. Yeah, my favorite costume as a kid was when I went as a Venus Fly Trap. That costume was very elaborate. I bred some super Venus Fly Traps and attached multiple ones to clothing. They were magnificent. They were all over four feet wide How Do I Become Part of The Florida Youth Council? The Florida Youth Council is a group of youth (between the ages of 15 and 17) and emerging leaders (between the ages of 18 and 30) with disabilities or special health care needs that live in Florida. The Florida Youth Council is all about getting youth and emerging leaders involved in self-advocacy, peer mentoring and other activities that will improve the quality of life for youth and emerging leaders with disabilities in Florida. The program empowers youth and emerging leaders to decide what issues are important when they opened and they were aggressive. That was the only down side. A couple of people may have lost some fingers, but who really needs all their fingers. Now, for everyone else who is dealing with things that are not really there, such as ghosts, dryers that eat socks and the dog who ate your homework, feel free to send me, the great Professor Linguine, a letter.
