All Star Rule As of the April Executive Board Meeting, the All-Star Non-Participation Rule has been reversed. Student Athletes can participate in both All-Star and High school teams The final decision is left up to the school/coach of each program AIA is not mandating that as a coach you must allow an athlete on your team that wants to do both
Social Media winners #AIAPACKTHEHOUSE Winners All-Girl Division I All-Girl Division II All-Girl Division III COED Division I COED Division II Game Day Mountain View Mesa Notre Dame Prep Sahuarita Chandler Globe Cienega The teams listed will have their fee for State Qualifier waived this year. Once a team has registered if they don t pay/don t compete because of fees, it is a withdraw violation
Competition Music Make sure to get a receipt for all music to upload for competition registration Must be upload as proof that editing rights were paid for AIA is going electronic this year-no CDs We are realizing most schools do not have CD players any more IF you need an adapter for your phone, bring it
Competition Stunts AIA follows NFHS rules Don t get confused and think an AACCA rule that is different than an NFHS rule is legal-it might not be Review stunts that are legal at the HS level. No two high stunts No flipping baskets Remember just because a stunt is legal through NFHS, if your team cannot safely perform it, it should not be done.

Tech Judges Top 5 SARAH LAMP, BEVERLEE NIELSEN, MIKE SHOLTZ AND AMANDA ST VINCENT
#1 Rule Poms and tumbling We noticed a lot during competition that athletes were executing tumbling (primarily aerial cartwheels) with poms in the hands and touching the hands down during the aerial.
#2 Rule Poms in hand supporting top person We saw this across the board with Pom and Cheer last year in competition. If the athlete is supporting a top person, they should NOT have poms in their hand.
#3 Rule a AND c Stepping on Poms and/or signs- Discarding signs or poms This continues to be an issue where participants slip on signs, poms, or bows during a routine. Placement of the signs and/or poms is crucial! Also, we understand the girls need to discard the signs, however, they should not be hitting audience members and/or judges.
#4 Rule Loss of contact The posts and bases should not lose contact with the top person no matter what!! We saw this a lot during competition during pyramids and superman stunts. Hang onto those arms and ankles!!
#5 We wanted to clarify: Building Bobble (.5 Pts) INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO STUNTS, TOSSES, AND PYRAMIDS THAT ALMOST DROP BUT ARE SAVED. INCLUDING EXCESSIVE MOVEMENT OF BASES TO SAVE A STUNT AND DROPPING FROM EXTENDED TO PREP LEVEL, BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE A DROPPPED BODY POSITION OR SMALL BALANCE CHECK. Athlete Fall (Minor-.5 pts) HANDS/KNEES DOWN ON TUMBLING OR TRANSITION Building Fall (Minor 1 Pts) INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO DROP FROM INDIVIDUAL STUNT TO LOAD IN, CRADLE, PRONE, FLATBACK, OR ONE MEMBER OF THE GROUP LANDING ON THE GROUND Athlete Fall (Major- 1 Pt) LANDING ON HEAD/SHOULDERS/BACK ON TUMBLING OR TRANSITION. Perfection before progression!! Major Building/Stunt Fall (2 Pts) INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO A DROP FROM AN INDIVIDUAL STUNT TO A COMPROMISING POSITION (NOT MENTIONED IN MINOR FALL) OR MORE THAN ONE MEMBER OF THE GROUP LANDING ON THE GROUND. Major Pyramid Fall ( 3 Pts) TWO OR MORE CONNECTED STUNTS FALLING. IF MULTIPLE PYRAMIDS ARE BUILT AT THE SAME TIME, EACH PYRAMID WILL BE TREATED SEPARATELY. IF MULITPLE TOPS FALL IN THE SAME PYRAMID BUT NOT IN DIRECT CONNECTION, THIS DEDUTION STILL APPLIES.
From the Tech Judges: We are NOT out to get anyone: We try to error on the side of caution and give teams the benefit of the doubt. We always chat and if we all see something then, we will deduct. If we do not all concur, then we do not deduct. There are times we hold back our score sheets because we are looking up the exact rule and we have a chance to talk and agree on a final ruling. We are there for safety concerns and are not there to "get" anybody. Our main concern is the safety of the athletes. Time Keeping: We all try and keep time so that way we can reference and agree on when something happened. We talk A LOT: We talk during the week too; and text to make sure we feel good about everything. Before competitions even begin, we will go over the new rules and go over things from last year to make improvements on our communication system during competitions.
