All matches are played in accordance with the Association Junior Administration Rules, Junior Competition General Provisions and the Laws of Cricket, except as amended below. SCJM-1 SC Modified Team Members 1. In the under 12 competition, a team is defined as 9 players. 2. The maximum number of players is ideally 11 players but only 9 players may take the field at any given time. 3. Nominated players for both teams must be written on their score sheets before the match commences. 4. All players nominated and available must be given the opportunity to participate in the match in either batting or bowling. 5. Nomination of Batting team IS required, only a maximum of 9 players can bat. 6. Nomination of Bowling team IS NOT required, a maximum of 11 players can bowl (See point 3.1) 7. A team is deemed to be all out (dismissed) once the first 8 wickets are lost. Where a team has less than the specified numbers of players for a team, the team is deemed to be all out (dismissed) once the total number of wickets lost is one less than the total number of team players available (IE if 8 players are available team is all out once 7 wickets are lost). 8. Minimum number of players is 7. Less than 7 will be considered a forfeit for the purposes of My Cricket. However if a Coach only realises on game day that he/ she has only 6 players, Clubs are encouraged to continue with a game sharing players as required. Results and players scores will not be inputted for a forfeited match. 9. No substitutes are allowed. SCJM-2 SC Modified Batting Restrictions 1. The first innings of each team shall be limited to a maximum of 30 overs each. 2. All batters retire at 35 balls, no compulsory retirement score (with the assumption that some players will be dismissed) 3. Any retired batters can return when all others have batted, in the order they retire. 4. All balls (regardless of whether a no ball) will be included in the batters ball count. 5. The Innings is declared closed after 8 wickets have fallen. 6. The team batting first must terminate the innings at 9:25am. The team batting second must receive an equal number of overs, up to a maximum of 30 overs. A minimum number of 16 overs must be received by both teams to obtain a result unless a team is dismissed in less than 16 overs.

7. Slow play: If there is a full days play and the team bowling first does not finish its allotted overs by 9:25am (unless play was delayed through injury or extraordinary circumstances) that team reduces its allowed batting overs at a rate of 1 = 2, i.e. a team bowls 28 overs, the team batting second gets a maximum of 26 overs. 8. If the playing time has elapsed before the team batting second has received an equal number of overs, the match result will be decided on the average of runs scored per over. 9. If the team batting first does not bat out the full 30 overs, the team batting second still receives its full amount of 30 overs 10. Matches with an on/off play must reach at least 16 overs for the side batting first for the match to progress further. 11. Wet weather time lost: For each 6 minutes (or part thereof) lost due to wet weather, or any other cause, one over is deducted from each teams innings, ie 12 minutes lost = 2 overs deducted from each team = 28 overs maximum first innings. 12. Drinks Breaks shall be taken at the completion of 15 overs. Drinks breaks shall be taken for a maximum of four (4) minutes. 13. There shall be no play after a result has been achieved. (Note: Teams may use the remaining playing time for a social match, with no further score recorded). SCJM-3 SC Modified Bowling 1. Restrictions: Teams shall bowl a maximum of 30 overs of 6 balls each (Maximum of 8 balls in the last over, see rule 3.3). All nominated players are entitled to bowl (maximum 11 players applies). Where teams have 9 nominated players they will initially bowl a minimum of 2 overs each, following which selected nominated players can bowl a maximum 4 overs each. Where teams have more than 9 nominated players, the 30 overs must be shared equally between at least 9 of the nominated players with them bowling a minimum of 2 overs each, with the remaining overs bowled by any nominated player subject to a maximum of 4 overs per player). In the event of less than 9 players, a minimum of 2 overs and a maximum of 5 overs will apply. 2. When overs are lost, a corresponding proportional reduction is made in the number of overs which can be bowled by any individual bowler, i.e. 22 overs maximum, 9 nominated bowlers must bowl 2 overs each with the 4 remaining overs to be shared between selected nominated bowlers. 3. When a no ball is called no extra ball shall be allowed by the umpire except in the last over in each innings of competition matches when over may be extended to a maximum of 8 balls (as per Cricket Australia Junior Cricket Policy).

4. ALL WIDE BALLS ARE TO BE CALLED NO BALLS. The umpire at the bowlers end should therefore signal and call NO BALL in matches for any of the following reasons: A ball lands off the pitch (Note: a ball coming to rest cannot be hit). If the ball lands outside the pitch or takes an irregular deviation from the edge of the pitch For an illegal delivery determined by the feet, (Front foot no ball) MCC Law If a ball bounces more than once before it reaches the BATTING / POPPING crease or it is rolled along the ground. (The Batting / Popping crease is where the batsman takes guard see diagram) Note: In theory, a batsman can be out if a ball bounces 2 times, provided that the 2 nd bounce happens AFTER the BATTING / POPPING crease and the ball breaks the stumps. MCC Law Position of the wicket keeper. (The wicket keeper cannot take the ball in front of the stumps). MCC Law Limitation of fielders on the Leg Side. (No more than 4 fielders are permitted on the leg side and no more than 2 fielders are permitted behind square leg). MCC Law Attempted run out by the bowler before delivering the ball (Mankad) MCC Law 41. Dangerous and unfair bowling (Refer rules 5.5 & 5.6) POINTS TO CONSIDER A batsman CANNOT be stumped of a NO BALL so long as he is NOT attempting a run. In the interest of fairness and consistency the Association encourages Umpires / Coaches to meet before the match and agree on local matters. The intention is to encourage the bowler to bowl playable deliveries without embarrassing or unnecessarily discouraging inexperienced bowlers. The Umpire / Coach should take into account the size, reach and ability of the batter. The Umpire / Coach may give a new and young bowler some leniency in their first few deliveries gram Kookaburra Red King Leather Ball or equivalent.

SCJM-4 SC Modified Wet Weather 1. Each team must have the opportunity of facing 16 overs to constitute a match. (ie Match cannot be reduced below a minimum aggregate of 32 overs team batting first must face at least 16 overs.) In matches where the innings of the team batting second exceeds 16 overs but (as a result of interruptions to play through wet weather or any other unforeseen circumstance) is unable to receive an equal number of overs to the team batting first, match result will be determined on run rate. 2. Where both coaches are unable to agree based on fitness of ground, weather or light, there will be no play and the match shall be declared a washout. (To be treated as a draw for point score purposes.) SCJM-5 SC Modified Limitations 1. Pitch Restrictions Full length pitch, metres from wicket to wicket. 2. Field Restrictions Bowlers change ends at the completion of 15 overs (Drinks break) to encourage speed of play / time saving strategy. 3. Field Restrictions fieldsmen are not permitted to stand within 10 metres of the batsman (wicketkeeper and slips positions excluded). COACHES ARE TO ENSURE THIS RULE IS STRICTLY APPLIED 4. NO LBW law applicable in this competition. Players taking a stance, which deliberately takes advantage of this rule must be approached by the umpire and instructed to take remedial action 5. The high FULL PITCHED ball playing condition applies to ALL BOWLERS whether deliveries are slow, medium paced or fast. High FULL PITCHED is defined as above the waist of the batsman at the popping crease (see diagram below) 6. SHORT PITCHED bowling is defined as any delivery after pitching, passes or would have passed above shoulder height of the batsman standing upright at the Batting / POPPING crease (see diagram). 7. Boundaries Minimum 40 metres to Maximum 45 metres measured from the middle of the wicket. (In the event a ground cannot accommodate this size, Coach / Umpire are to reduce accordingly) 8. It is COMPULSORY that all keepers wear helmets. 9. Fielding No more than 4 fielders on leg side and a maximum 2 fielders behind square leg. 10. Wicket Keeper. Each team is required to use 2 wicket keepers x 15 overs each.

11. Session Times Session 1 (Drinks at 15 8 am 9.40 am overs, 4 mins) Innings Break 9.40 am 9.50 am Session 2 (Drinks at 15 Overs, 4 mins) 9.50 am am SCJM-6 SC Modified Final Series 1. All matches shall be played as a SC Junior Modified fixture unless amended below. 2. The U12 competition will include semi-finals and finals and will be played on 2 consecutive Saturdays or as directed by the association. 3. If there is no result through wet weather in a semi-final, the team/s who finish with more competition points will progress to the final. If the teams are on equal points, then averages will be used. If there is no result in a final then the team with the most competition points will be declared the winner. If points are equal then averages will be used. Batting / Popping Crease Diagram
