2 ARE YOU interested in our fauna and flora? Here at Elephant Rock you will be able to get up front and personal with natives of all kinds: A friendly possum chewing on a donated apple. The flower of the Queen of the Night which only blooms at night with a dinner plate sized flower. A Galah is being told off by a Rainbow Lorikeet. Does he care? Yet another Parrot! A Paleheaded Rozella contemplates his options. A green frog is patiently waiting for dinner on the window pane. And should you get sick of the natives, a climb up Mt Greville (Elephant Rock) will give you a bird s eye view of the surrounding mountains and the lake as you sit on the ground resting before the return journey back to our little slice of paradise. 3 Bush walking. A further walk has been added to our two bushwalks. This one takes you beyond the Love Seat walk and so is called... and beyond. It takes you on to the firebreak road that National Parks people have constructed which goes around the mountain and ends up joining the track up the mountain from the National Park car park. The view of Lake Moogerah is exceptional as the picture shows with Mt Edward on the left. Sometimes though the mists hide the view but this too can look great! James took the second shot with his mobile phone when he went up to the phone booth! So check it out next time you visit us. PROMOTING THE NUDE LIFESTYLE Sue has put her many talents to good use as an ambassador for nudism by explaining the lifestyle to millions who listen to Brisbane s 4BC radio station. The interview was by Ian Maurice at ten pm and lasted half an hour although the understanding was that it would last only ten minutes. Hopefully the textile world has a better understanding of our lifestyle after this, but listening to the calls to Ian after the interview puts some doubts to this. Page 3

4 ANNU Have you noticed the shows nowadays on free to air TV mostly are about the supernatural and the extraterrestrial? To be with the in crowd the Elephant Rock crowd became the extraterrestrials from Transylvania for the night. To follow the script from the Rocky Horror Picture Show a lot of the characters turned up; RiffRaff, Rocky, Colombia, Magenta et al were there with quite a few other out of this world types. Of course Brad and Janet were also there representing humans! Thirsty Brad getting a drink There were lots and lots of black fishnet stockings and black/red garter belts which looked gooood on the women but left a bit to be desired when worn by the men. Although the men with nice legs did look pretty (good that is!). This is the way you should be Doing the Timewarp Again! Louise was great at getting the Transylvanians (and others) up to practice the Time Warp dance which came in handy at midnight when all who were still up and about did a roaring rendition of this cult dance. A great time was had by the crowd although it is regretfully announced that some participants did not survive to midnight they probably had their watches set to the artificial time favoured by the Mexicans. Thank you all for the effort you went to to get dressed up (or down). The imaginative costumes really made the night. It was noted though that the only person not represented in his costume of fishnets held up by a garter belt and sporting a corselette was Frankenfurter himself. Could this be because no man was prepared to be closely identified with an avowed transexual? Next year we ll try another way out musical...any suggestions?? What about The Sound of Music?! 5 What to do on Australia Day? Here at Elephant Rock we do the usual Australia thing : dampers from the camp ovens; compete in thong throwing ; drink beer/wine; swim to cool off; drink more beer/wine; play the Australia Day Test cricket match; drink beer/wine; eat dinner prepared in six (yes, six!) camp ovens with beer/wine of course. In between all this the men challenged the women to a Petanque (not really Aussie) competition. winning player (all rounder) was a recent Aussie from Belgium! The fair dinkum Aussies got no look in at all to this strong athletic type. Maybe we should have laid off the beer/wine!? The winning toss of the thong Petanque With ten participants on each side, the game was shortened to the best of seven instead of the usual thirteen because it was encroaching on to the happy hour time. The men won of course. Cricket This was an energetic match played on the round robin basis to tip and run rule. There were lots of shouts of howzat! and catchit! and get off ya mug and other well liked Aussie Cricket terms.
