Volume 36 Issue 54 Grade 3 & Div 8 White Host NorRock Vikings By Hans Alber EndZone Senior Sports Writer It was over before it started. Well not quite that fast. In youth football we see various stages of development and abilities of both coaches and players. For many this is still a new learning experience and with time the understanding and performance improves. What s always important is the fun factor. We keep score to know who wins and losses but that is never the most important thing. Playing as team, having fun and learning how to lose are all of equal importance too. Below - #37 Brandon Robbins (3 rd Cat from the right) clears the corner. The wall of Cats #70 Lilly Lemay, #15 Seth Doyon, #38 Nicholas Kotsakis, #23 Camden Brutus, and #89 Nathan Palmer clear the path for his first of two TD s. As an instructional program Grade 3 football only records the game as a Londonderry victory over NorRock 1 to 0. It was a lop-sided victory as Londonderry scored 33 un-answered points mid-way through the 2nd quarter. In that 15 minutes of football Brandon Robbins scored twice and gained almost 100 yards. Nathan Pedrick scored on a 19 yard run, Andrew Kullman scored on a 30 yard run and Dylan Wrisley (right) took it to the end zone on a 34 yard run. All of this offense in just a little more than a quarter.
The remainder of the game was played as a scrimmage with Londonderry getting the official 1-0 victory. The Wildcat Grade 3 team improves their record to 2 and 0. Left - # 75 Tyler Miles pounces on a NorRock Viking fumble as #22 Dane Duarte looks on. Right A Division 8 White cheerleader celebrates the Wildcat touchdown Left At the end of the game the cheerleaders celebrate along with the G3 football team members. Grade 4 & Div 8 Red - Host Nashua PAL Force By Anthony Higgins EndZone Sports Editor Grade 4 struggled on defense as runners from Nashua were continually successful in running the ball to the outside. This trend started on the Nashua Forces first play from offense when the runner took the pitch deep in their back field and with blockers up front ran un-touched for 38 yards and the early Nashua lead. Right Elliott the Wildcat Mascot hangs out on the side-lines Londonderry nearly loss an opportunity to tie the game when a series of penalties forced the offense back from the end zone on their first scoring opportunity. The cats were able to overcome the
Right #76 Brian Barbaro gets into position for the interception note the ball upper left of frame GREAT SHOT In the 2nd half the Cat defense made adjustments and effectively shut down the Nashua ground game. Nathan Duddy and Evan Iannazzo lead the way with 6 solo tackles each. Tyler Moore and Austen Hayden each recorded a Nashua fumble recovery to go along with multiple stops. And Brian Barbaro had an interception of a Nashua point after attempt. Though the defense stiffened up in the 2nd half the offenses for both teams did not find the end zone. After a tough-fought second half the final score was Nashua 19 Londonderry 7. The G4 team falls to 0 and 2 on the season. loss of yardage and move the ball back into scoring position. Devin Ortiz took the ball the final 11 yards early in the 2nd quarter (Jesse Morin extra point) to tie the game at 7 all. Left - #41 Devin Ortiz sweeps right for his 11 yard TD On their next offensive series the Nashua back ran for gains of 34 yards and then a 29 yard TD carry to pull Nashua ahead 13 to 7. After the Londonderry offense failed to move the ball on their next possession Nashua took advantage of the turn-over on downs to pull ahead 19-7 just before half-time. Above left - #15 Tyler Murray makes the ankle tackle Above right The Div 10 Cheer team shouts it out!!
Below - #85 Nathan Carroll tucks that ball in tight as his Grade 4 team mates #64 Jackson Romanek and #34 Ian Becker point the way Grade 5 & Div 10 Host NorRock Vikings By Visaly Livanov EndZone Sports Writer The Vikings had no, and I do mean no answer to the Wildcat offensive punch. The score was 13 to 0 after four minutes, 20 to 0 at the end of one quarter and 34 to 0 by the end of the first half. At that point in the game the AYF lop-sided score rule took over and the teams continued as a scrimmage with the clock running. Left - #24 Lucas Seaman scampers untouched for the first WildCat TD. #77 Keith Cucinotta, #38 Richard Nadeau, and #55 William Reyes look on Lucas Seaman scored on the Cats opening drive powering over the left side of the line un-touched for the 33 yard score. On the ensuing kick-off Dean Haggett recovered the NorRock fumble and Matt Griffin on the next play rushed the ball to the one-yard line. Lance Martineau punched it in (Jacob Naar extra point) and the Wildcats offensive machine was well on the way to victory.
Jacob would add another touchdown in the 1st quarter gaining 39 yards on two carries. Dean Haggett who had a fumble recovery would get the next Londonderry score on a 67 yard TD run (Jacob Naar extra point) and Lucas Seaman would get the last score on a 34 yard TD run (Milton Duran extra point). The Wildcat Grade 5 team coasts to a 2-0 early season record. Grade 6 Host NorRock Vikings By John Neville EndZone Executive Sports Writer Fortunately for the Londonderry Wildcat 6th grade team the struggling NorRock football program could not take advantage of the 14 Londonderry penalties. The story of the game was the swarming Londonderry defense that shut down the NorRock offense. The G6 defense recorded two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and forced two safeties. Joey Payon recorded the two interceptions and Tyler Kayo, Blaine Hopkins and Cam Babine defensively forced the 2 safeties against NorRock. The Londonderry offenses first play from scrimmage was a perfect pass from Devin Rheaume to Jake McEachern on a 46 yard slant play for the score. The extra point attempt was foiled by four straight Londonderry penalties. Below Quarterback #79 Devin Rheaume lets go the TD strike to a streaking Jake McEachern Joey Paysons INT return of 39 yards to the NorRock 6 in the early second quarter set up the Tyler Kayo TD run. Jake McEachern would get his 2nd TD of the day on a 37 yard carry near the end of the first half. Tyler Kayo would add a 2nd TD in the 4th quarter. Those scores combined with the two 2nd half safeties would make the final score Londonderry 29 and NorRock 0. The lop-sided score rule again taking over as the game clock ran down for the Londonderry victory. The G6 team improves to 2 and 0 this season.
Above It looks like #24 Jake McEachern is going to be tackled or fumble.but NOT SO he broke that tackle, hung on to the ball and scored the games first TD. Bellow - #70 Cam Babine lunges through his blocks and gets the sack of the Vikings QB - #52 Jacob Cullen and #63 Blaine Hopkins.
Varsity & JV Host Merrimack Cardinals By Johnathan Pryce EndZone Senior Executive Sports Editor The Varsity and Junior Varsity opened at home this past weekend hosting the Cardinals of Merrimack in NEJHFL action. The Varsity lost a close contest 14 to 0 and the Junior Varsity held on after a furious come-back attempt by Merrimack was stopped late in the 4 th quarter. The JV won this wild back-and-forth game 32 to 30. Below - #33 Jeffrey Wiedenfield (right center) gets one of his touchdowns. #40 Alex Boucher, #38 Ryan Dooley, #85 Kyle Berard. With Londonderry ahead with under a minute to play Merrimack made a valiant but futile attempt to pull ahead. Below on a 4 th and 11 with under 30 seconds remaining The Cat defense #59 Ty Belville, #33 Jeffrey Wiedenfield and #51 Tim Bajeck shut them down!!
