3 Foreword On behalf of the Hurling Committee, we are pleased to present our Fixtures Plan for the year We need to be clear that this plan could deviate from the fixture dates set out in this booklet as a result of circumstances outside of the control of hurling committee such as inter county hurling games, football games, unavoidable postponements, weather conditions, etc. We will do our best to stick to the fixtures plan but we are looking to the clubs for their cooperation in playing the games and ensuring our championships are finished no later than middle of November. We thank the clubs for making their pitches available and would appreciate if the clubs could have their pitches lined, flags provided and facilities in good working order so that our players and spectators can enjoy our games. In advance we thank our match officials, field committees, stewards, gatemen without whom our games could not take place. 20 Coiste Chontae Iomana na Gaillimhe Procedure governing Postponements The following applies in relation to postponements: 1. That a game postponed according to bye-law would be played by the following Wednesday evening. 2. Where request for a postponement not covered by bye-law is made that game be brought forward to the Wednesday prior to the original fixture but two weeks notice must be given to the board and opposition. 3. All requests for postponements to be in writing to the Runai CCC by the Runai Cumann, and Runai Coiste Chontae Iomána be notified also. 4. A hurling game deferred to facilitate a player playing Inter County Championship Football will be played on next available date regardless of any other planned football fixture. 5. A game fixed for a weekend date may be moved to another date in the same weekend at short notice if the need arises. Match Regulations: The following regulations apply to all competitions: 1. Number of players allowed entry to the pitch enclosure to be thirty. 2. Number of Officials permitted to remain in the pitch enclosure during a game is up to a maximum of ten which includes medical personnel. 3. No children (U16) allowed entry to the pitch enclosure. 4. Where programme is available, all players must wear corresponding numbers. 5. Bainisteoir and Maor Foirne to wear distinctive bibs. 6. Three hurley carriers allowed per team and must wear distinctive bibs. 7. Results in all games must be texted by secretary of winning team immediately after the match to John Fahey at Failure to comply with the above regulations may result in fines and or exclusion from pitch enclosure. 18

21 New Age Grades and Player availability From 1st January 2016 the following changes to Rule 6.17 (Age Grades) apply: A player who wishes to play Adult Club must be over 17 years (Must be 17 before 1st January 2017) A player who wishes to play Adult Inter-County must be over 18 years. (Must be 18 before 1st January 2017) A player who wishes to play Under 21 Club must be under 21 and over 16 years. (Must be 16 before 1st January 2017) A player who wishes to play Inter-County Under 21 must be under 21 years and over 18 years. (Must be 18 before 1st January 2017) Under-age Competitions (U21 to U12). Official Teams lists shall (a) state the Players name in Irish together with his Date of Birth and (b) shall be handed to the Referee prior to the commencement of the game. Penalty for non-compliance, on proven Objection: Forfeiture of the Game and award to opposing Team. Rule 6.22 (c) Inter County Players Availability to Clubs: A player on an Inter-County minor panel shall not play in Adult Club League Competitions / Challenge Games until his Inter-County activity for the year is concluded. An inter-county panelist is defined as a player listed in a panel of 24 players on March 1st, and which may be amended and confirmed to the County Secretary on a monthly basis thereafter. Play Offs: This is an addition to rule (c) Where two teams finish level on points and one of them have conceded or given a walk over in the group games, this team will be placed in a lower position on the points table. The videoing of games The videoing of games is subject to the Runai an Cumann making written application and obtaining the permission 48 hours in advance of the game, from the County Board Secretary and the payment of the appropriate fee of 50. The granting of permission is subject to full compliance with the Galway G.A.A. Video Policy. A Copy of the permission granted, should be given to the person videoing the game as they need it to gain entry to the ground and they may also be asked to produce it during the course of the day. 19

22 Senior Competitons Regulations 2018 Championship Senior A 12 Teams as per outcome of 2017 championship. 2 groups x 6 teams semi finalists drawn 2 in each group, open draw. Top 2 teams in each group qualify for quarter final places in Snr championship. Teams 3 and 4 in each group qualify for preliminary quarter final places in Snr championship. Teams 5 and 6 in each group cross play with two losers relegated to Senior B in Senior B 12 Teams as per outcome of 2017 championships. 2 groups x 6 teams, 2 relegated teams from 2017 championship drawn 1 in each group, Remaining 10 teams drawn in open draw format. Top team in each group promoted to Senior A for 2019, and qualify for preliminary Quarter-Finals of Senior championship Teams 2 and 3 in each group cross play with both winners qualifying for preliminary Quarter-Finals of Senior championship Team 6 in each group play each other with loser relegated to Intermediate in (In the event of playoffs, games may be played midweek). Preliminary Quarter-Finals: teams qualifying from Senior A play teams qualifying from Senior B. Quarter-Finals: preliminary quarter final winners play teams who have automatically qualified to Quarter-Finals in Senior A groups. Semi-Finals: Open Draw. Sequence of games in groups to be as per Serva Sport Matrixes. Extra time in all knockout games up to and including Quarter-Finals. In the event of a team failing to fulfill a fixture the provisions of Rule 6.24 TO 2017 shall apply. Liam Mellows v Gort - Senior Final action
