2 THE BOAT Design: Combava is a 37 ft Riviera Sports fisher operating from The Slipway Dar es Salaam Tanzania. Riviera is designed and manufactured in Australia, and is described as a Luxury fishing boat with great space and superb for fishing. Details about the boat: Combava can host 6 guests and comfortably allow 4 fishermen to fish at the same time. Combava has a cabin with a double bed, a bathroom with a fresh water lavatory, basin and shower, a kitchen with a microwave, coffee machine and icemaker. The saloon can comfortably seat 6 guests for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just relaxing. The saloon area comfortably seats 6 guests for meals and relaxing and can be converted into a double bed. Combava also has a generator on board which powers an air-conditioning unit for your comfort.

GENERAL: We are lucky to have 6 different Billfish species in Tanzania, they are as follows: - Sailfish - Spearfish - Broadbill Swordfish - Striped Marlin - Blue Marlin - Black Marlin In addition to

Our crew are trained professionals with the skills and abilities to perform, and to make sure that our clients have a memorable fishing trip The crew is also able to speak a variety of languages. GENERAL: We are lucky to have 6 different Billfish species in Tanzania, they are as follows: - Sailfish - Spearfish - Broadbill Swordfish - Striped Marlin - Blue Marlin - Black Marlin In addition to the billfish most pelagic game fish like Wahoo, Dorado, Tuna and King Mackerel hunt the channels and drop-offs for the abundant bait fish. On several of the deep drop-offs, very large Giant Trevally (GT) and Dogtooth Tuna can be found. It is not uncommon to release numerous 30kg plus GTs during a mornings fishing. Channel Area: There are three areas to choose from in the channel area: 1) Bedford Banks positioned about 12Nautical Miles North East of Dar es Salaam. 2) Centre Channel 8 Nautical Miles East of Dar es Salaam. 3) Sinda Island 12 Nautical Miles South East of Dar es Salaam Numerous species of pelagic fish does patrol these areas, with a wide range like Wahoo, Dorado, King Mackerel. The odd Marlin does patrol through and Sailfish are very common and can find up 3 to 5 Sailfish in our spread at a time feeding.

The KASKAZI season starts from December until March. FISHING SEASONS: The Billfish season runs during the Kaskazi season with lots of Sailfish and Striped Marlin around.

5 SEASONS FISHING EQUIPMENT: Combava is fully equipped allowing to do various kinds of fishing like: Trolling Jigging Baiting There are two Monsoon seasons that govern the weather around Tanzania. They are called KUSI South-West winds and KASKAZI North-East winds. These periods are separated by doldrums (calm) periods. The KUSI season starts from March and blows until October/November. The KASKAZI season starts from December until March. FISHING SEASONS: The Billfish season runs during the Kaskazi season with lots of Sailfish and Striped Marlin around. Our record of 18 Strikes in a morning was on the northern tip of Pemba. In the south we have had numerous full house strikes on Sailfish. Pelagic game fish are found all year round but also peak during the Kaskazi season. Very large Yellow Fin Tuna and huge shoals of smaller ones move into the shallows during the Kusi season and our best time for GTs are also during the Kusi season, although they can be found all year round. The best time for Broadbill Swordfish is during the doldrums periods when the sea is calm, no swell and wind. These Billfish are the most elusive and challenging to catch as they are caught at night preferably with no moon. They are not called the Gladiators of the seas for nothing and can tax any angler, novice or professional.
