This year, 17 of the top women s collegiate golf teams are participating because of their hard work, talents and participation, we have risen to be one of the most prestigious events in the country! Long Cove Club is proud that over 100 volunteers, staff and officials will again contribute to the great tradition of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. I am excited to be the host of the top women s collegiate event in the country. A special thanks to the incredible members and staff at Long Cove Club and to all the sponsors who help make this a great event. I wish all of you good luck this week, even though I may be pulling a little harder for my Gamecocks. 3 THE GREATEST SHOW IN WOMEN S COLLEGIATE GOLF Five years ago, former South Carolina men s golf head coach and current women s golf associate head coach Puggy Blackmon came up with the idea to pair a collegiate golf tournament with a popular rock band. His idea soon turned into a reality after he joined the women s golf program as an assistant coach in Blackmon took the first step in creating the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate when he pitched the idea to Rucker at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Charleston, where the musician was playing a round with some members of the Gamecocks women s team. Rucker, the lead singer of the Grammy-Award winning rock band Hootie & the Blowfish and a South Carolina alumnus, immediately showed interest in joining the efforts to create the annual golf tournament. Finding a venue for the event was the next step, and Blackmon had a clear number one choice. Long Cove Club had a history of putting on top-class events, and it seemed to be the perfect fit for a collegiate golf event. Everything that Long Cove does is first class, Blackmon said. When they hold an event, they go to great lengths to make it special. Blackmon approached Long Cove Club head golf professional Bob Patton about hosting the tournament, and Patton presented the idea to the Members of the prestigious golf community. The pieces were put in place after Long Cove Club s membership approved the plan, and the event took off under Staunton T. Oppenheimer, who served as the tournament chair for the first two years. Now in its fifth year, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate will once again provide the unique combination of collegiate golf and music. Rucker, now a star country singer who boasts multiple top hits, looks forward to the event every year when he gets the chance to perform in front of a small crowd in an intimate setting at one of the top golf communities in the country. Dambaugh earned two top-three finishes in the fall, placing third at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate before finishing in a tie for second at the Landfall Tradition. Dambaugh, a Third-Team Preseason All-America selection, captured medalist honors during the stroke play portion at the 2015 North & South Women s Amateur Championship this past July. The junior notched two match play victories before falling in the semifinals. Senior Sarah Schmelzel tallied two top-20 finishes this fall. Her 6-under (210) at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate marked the lowest 54-hole total of her collegiate career. South Carolina turned in its best performance of the fall in its final round of the season, firing a 5-under (283) on the last day of the Landfall Tradition. The Gamecocks earned a ninth-place finish in the three-day event. South Carolina captured the 2015 NCAA East Regional Championship last May, winning the regional title for the third time in the last six years. 6

Sophomore Lakareber Abe leads the Tide with a stroke average of this season. Abe won the individual title at the 2015 Mason Rudolph Championship with a 12-under (204). The Tide claimed the team title at the Mason Rudolph Championship as well, recording a 16-under (848) to beat Northeastern by a single stroke. Alabama also placed fifth at the 2015 Landfall Tradition. Senior Emma Talley, the reigning NCAA champion, was named the 2015 Female Amateur of the Year by the Global Golf Post. For the fifth time in program history, the Duke women s golf team was ranked No. 1 nationally in Golfweek s preseason top 30 listings. The Blue Devils boast six NCAA National Championships, 18 ACC Championships and 124 team victories under head coach Dan Brooks. Their 124 wins are the most of any women s golf coach in Division I history. Duke returns all five starters from last year s squad that finished second in the NCAA Tournament stroke play portion and reached the semifinals of match play. Duke fell to Baylor, 3-2, in the semifinals. 8

Coach: Jeff Hull Furman won the Yale Intercollegiate and the Palmetto Intercollegiate and finished second at the Lady Paladin Invitational this past fall. The Paladins have won six tournaments over the last two seasons. In the second round of the 2015 Lady Paladin Invitational in September, Furman posted a total of 282, the lowest round in school history. Freshman Haylee Harford leads the Paladins with a 73.3 stroke average. Harford boasted three top-10 finishes in the fall and recorded top-five finishes at the Yale Intercollegiate and the Palmetto Intecollegiate. The Paladins swept the Southern Conference honors last season, as Hester was named coach of the year, Taylor Totland was honored as the player of the year, and Alice Chen earned SoCon Freshman of the Year accolades. The Bulldogs won two tournaments in the fall, capturing the Cardinal Fall Kickoff and the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Georgia shot par or better as a team in four of its five fall events. Bulldog golfers compiled 32 individual par or better performances in 79 rounds played. All five regulars in Georgia s lineup finished the fall ranked among the nation s top 75 individuals in both Golfweek and Golfstat rankings. 9

Sophomore Grace Rose posted the low round of the season with a career-best 67 on the final day of the Landfall Tradition, the Wildcats last tournament of the fall. The Wildcats are coming off a school-record fifth-straight NCAA Regional appearance. Junior Caroline Nistrup leads the Tigers with a stroke average of this season. She finished 12th at the 2015 NCAA Championships. LSU has earned top-three finishes at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in each of its three appearances at the tournament. The Tigers have qualified for the NCAA Championships in three of the last five seasons under head coach Karen Bahnsen. LSU finished third in the 2011 and 2012 NCAA Championships. 10

Sophomore Leslie Cloots shot a collegiate career-best 68 (-4) in the final round of the Ruth s Chris Tar Heel Invitational. Four different North Carolina players shot under-par rounds during the fall season. 11
