C-USA Champion Middle Tennessee was placed in the Shoal Creek Regional and will play at Shoal Creek Country Club in Shoal Creek, Alabama. Last week, the Blue Raiders repeated as league champion, winning the 2016 Conference USA Women s Golf Championship by 13 strokes. MT claimed the league s automatic berth, marking its second postseason appearance (2015) in the program s 15-year history. The team was paced by a trio of golfers who finished in the top five individually. Freshman Hanley Long earned runner-up honors with a 1-under 215 Emily Miller, Middle Tennessee ( ) followed by senior teammate Emily Miller, whose 5-under 67 over the final 18 holes vaulted her into a tie for third place ( ). Rounding out the top-five scoring for MT was junior Samantha Gotcher, who finished with a 3-over 219 ( ). C-USA individual medalist Meghan MacLaren of FIU is one of six individuals slated to tee off in the Baton Rouge Regional at University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is MacLaren s third NCAA Regional appearance after tying for 25th individually in last year s NCAA National Championship. The standout senior became just the second two-time individual medalist in league history (Pam Buff, ), carding a 3-under 213 to win the 2016 C-USA Championship individual title. After an opening-round 73 that put her in a tie for fifth place, MacLaren registered a 1-under 71 and closed with a 3-under 69 to win the event by two shots. She bested the competition in par-4 scoring (4.00, E) and par-5 scoring (4.75, -3), and was third in total birdies (11). The four NCAA Women s Regional Championships are May 5-7, with 24 teams and 12 individuals advancing. The NCAA Division I Women s Golf National Championship is May at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon, hosted by the University of Oregon. The final round of stroke play (May 23) as well as both days of match play (May 24-25) of the championship will be televised live by the Golf Channel. On April 27, Louisiana Tech claimed the Conference USA Men s Golf Championship team title, winning the league s match play event over UAB. The title is the first for the program since 1980, and LA Tech will make its first team appearance in the NCAA Division I Championship as the recipient of the league s automatic berth. The Bulldogs, as well as potential 2016 NCAA Men s Golf Championship Regional at-large bids for other C-USA teams and individuals, learn their regional site and opponents when selections are announced live on the Golf Channel s Morning Drive on Thursday, May 5 at 9:30 a.m. CDT. Myers, Florida) 2016 C-USA Championship: April 24-27, Texarkana Country Club (Texarkana, Arkansas) Middle Tennessee won the Conference USA Women s Golf Championship team title for the second time in as many years, earning the league s automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Women s Golf Championship Regionals.
