8 The Breeders Crown The Breeders Crown UK & Ireland is about to enter its 12th year, and has so far distributed over 280,000 in prize money for 2, 3, and 4-year-old horses. This year was up yet again with prize money in excess of 50,000 plus prizes being distributed amongst 2, 3, and 4 year olds. Brightwells is proud to be a major sponsor of both the 2-year-old finals, the total prize fund of which was 22,900. The Breeders Crown has doubled its prize money since the first race in 2007 by paying out nearly 50,000 to 2, 3 and 4-year-old home bred only horses. This is the richest series of its kind for British and Irish bred horses. This stage depends on sponsorship, breeders entering their stallions, foals and yearlings being nominated and 2 year olds paying their sustaining fee to enable them to enter in all future races with the Breeders Crown. It s up to you to nominate your yearling and stallion and give them both a career. WHAT IS STAKES RACING? Stakes Racing can seem a little confusing at first. Essentially fees are paid to become part of, remain eligible to and race within the series. These fees make up the prize fund which is split between the different racing groups. The money for stakes racing is huge in comparison to any other juvenile racing. It's up to you how many you choose to enter! For Breeders Crown UK & Ireland this means breeders nominate their stallion with a fee which ensures all resultant foals are eligible to race. Foal owner fees (likened to a registration fee) are combined with stallion owners nomination fees and added to the series prize fund. This fund is split between different genders and age groups - 2, 3 & 4-year-old colts and fillies. The more horses in each age group, the greater the prize fund. Managed by Breeders Crown UK & Ireland over 280,000 in prize money has distributed to date and with funding from sponsors. To see all sponsors, see The BHRC Sire Stakes conditions are similar to Breeders Crown UK & Ireland & are open to British bred horses. BHRC operates under their own conditions. Sire Stakes Ireland is open to horses bred in Ireland & the UK by stallions nominated into their program. The Welsh Dragon Series was originally developed as a grass championship race for 3 year olds at Tregaron Trotting but now encompasses races for 2, 3 and 4-year-old British bred and imported horses. Again, their own conditions apply and the Welsh Dragon Series has also paid out 20,000 in 2016 and over 245,000 since The Vincent Delaney Memorial Race is open to home bred and imported 2-year-old horses and has numerous sponsors, the most notable being Ladbrokes the bookmakers. Races also of note are The Rising Starzzz 2 and 3 year olds, The Ceredigion Trotting Club 2 and 3 year olds, The York 2 and 3 year olds, and the NWSA Championships. For more info on these racing series visit their websites: and Key This indicates a nomination to the BHRC Sire Stakes. This indicates a nomination to the Breeders Crown. This indicates a nomination to the Irish Sire Stakes. This indicates a nomination to the Welsh Dragon Series 6

We thought so much of him, that he was entered in the 2016 VDM but unfortunately, he had to undergo surgery for a bone spur in his lower jaw and was then turned out to recover. He was unraced in 2017 through no fault of his own but was jogged for 8 weeks to further his education. Great conformation and the type that should make a good two-year-old. We head hunted his dam NORAH BLUE CHIP as we had been really impressed with her first foal ONTOP BLACKJACK as a two-year-old. He appeared late in the season and looked very special when running a close 2nd to CAMDEN TINO in the York Rising Stars, only getting beaten following an incident on the last bend. He never returned to the same form following a bad bout of Strangles. NORAH BLUE CHIP is from a great USA family; her dam HIKARI is out of MAKIN SMILES making her half-sister to the great DIE LAUGHING p,3,1:51.1f ($2,164,386), GONE WEST p,5,1:50.3 ($212,038), GO FOR GRINS p,5,1:51.2 ($302,003) and GIGGLE BOX p,3,1:52.3. Her sire MCARDLE p.1.49 ($2,455,609) needs no introduction his progeny has won over 42 million dollars with standout performers such as ONE MORE LAUGH p and MCWICKED p By first UK crop sire ARMBRO DEUCE - World Champion as a three-year-old on a half mile Track pacing in and taking AMERICAN IDEAL s track record. DEUCE brings to the mix his brilliant high tactical speed - he still holds the fastest opening quarter at The Little Brown Jug This is no fluke; his dam MICHELLE S FANTASY was a half mile Track World Champion as a two-year-old clocking in DEUCE was RT himself as a two-year-old in Not only does he pass on his raw speed but his offspring are renowned for their conformation and natural gait which I believe will suit our UK tracks. He already boasts free legged winners in Canada and USA. Only two have raced in the UK one being the great STAMP HILL and the other the ill-fated WELLFIELD SNAKEYES who clocked 7 wins in 9 starts. We also noted that MCARDLE seems to work very well with the WESTERN IDEAL s so hopefully this cross will work for us with this boy. So only the third foal from this mare and she has already bred two-year-old speed. A star on the racetrack, he was crowned three-year-old Pacing Colt of the Year after winning the $1 Million Meadowlands Pace, $500,000 Messenger Pace and the $401,000 Messenger Stakes. As a sire, ROLL WITH JOE has started his career with a bang. His debut crop saw him become the leading money winning two-year-old Pacing Sire in the highly competitive state of New York. His first son to go to stud is the British owned RACING HILL p $1, winner of the Breeders Crown, Messenger and Adios Stakes etc. Beautifully bred ROLL WITH JOE s dam, CLASSIC WISH, is one of the finest pacing broodmares ever, boasting three millionaire sons BETTORS DELIGHT, ROLL WITH JOE and NO PAN INTENDED. He is the winner of the UK s first ever Grade 1 race when taking the Senior Welsh Dragon, also to his belt NWHOA 4YO, Bellsfield 3YO Championship, Ceredigion 3YO Colts, NWHOA 2YO etc. He paced in 2.00 at York as a two-year-old and was a real head turner with his looks and flawless gait. (iii) the payment of the price by the Purchaser. (iv) the return of any horse by the Purchaser to the Seller. (v) the administration of the Complaints Procedure beyond the appointment of an arbitrator in accordance therewith. 10. COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE (1) The Buyer shall notify the Auctioneer if the Buyer claims to be entitled to return a horse to the Seller in accordance with condition 7 or for any other reason orally by 5:00 pm on the second day following the Sale. (2) The Buyer shall follow up this oral notification to the Auctioneer with written notification to the Auctioneer to be received by the Auctioneer within seven days from the date of the Sale. The written notification by the Buyer to the Auctioneer shall set out the grounds upon which the Buyer claims to be entitled to return the horse to the Seller. (3) Where appropriate, the Buyer shall submit, along with his written notification, a veterinary certificate confirming any matters in respect of which complaint is made. The failure to submit a veterinary certificate in circumstances where such a certificate is appropriate will mean that the Buyer s complaint will not be further entertained and the Buyer shall pay the price for the horse in full. (4) In the event that the Buyer fails to make oral or written notification of his complaint within the above timescales, the Buyer shall not be allowed to return the horse to the Seller but must make payment for the horse in full unless the Buyer can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Auctioneer that it was not reasonably practicable for the Buyer to discover the complaint, and to notify the Auctioneer of the same, within the above timescales. However, in no circumstances whatsoever, may the above time limits be extended beyond a period of 14 days after the Sale. (5) On receipt of a written complaint together, where appropriate, with a veterinary certificate, the Auctioneer shall send a copy of the complaint and the veterinary certificate to the Seller and the Auctioneer shall appoint a suitable person to act as Arbitrator. The task of the Arbitrator will be to examine and determine the complaint. The name of the person appointed by the Auctioneer to act as Arbitrator shall be notified by the Auctioneer to the Seller and to the Buyer. The Auctioneer shall thereafter have no further responsibility in respect of the Complaint Procedure. (6) The examination and resolution of the complaint shall be under the control of the Arbitrator and the Seller and Purchaser shall comply with all directions that may be given by the Auctioneer in respect of the complaint. (7) The Arbitrator may require, before proceeding to examine and determine the complaint that the Arbitrator s fees and expenses shall be paid in advance. The Seller and the Buyer shall thereupon each pay one-half of the sum stipulated by the Arbitrator. (8) The Arbitrator may direct that the horse shall be subject to such trial as he may direct and the Seller and Buyer shall lend their full co-operation to such a trial. (9) If either the Seller or the Buyer fail to comply with a direction of the Arbitrator or fail to pay any sum ordered to be paid by the Arbitrator, then the Arbitrator may at his own discretion decide not to proceed with the examination and determination of the complaint and may, if the Seller is in default, order that the horse be returned to the Seller or may, if the Buyer is in default, order that the Buyer pay the full price to the Seller. (10) Upon the determination of the complaint, the Arbitrator may at his discretion order that the unsuccessful party pay to the other all the costs and expenses associated with the Complaints Procedure. 11. HARD HATS Any person riding an animal on the Sale Premises must wear a hard riding hat of an approved standard. 12. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SALE The Sale Catalogue may contain additional special conditions of sale which may prevail over the aforementioned. Additional Conditions of Sale for the Standardbred Sale 13. STAGBI reserve the right to collect samples on the day from any horse offered for sale, for the testing of DNA, Steroids, or Growth Hormones.
