6 Primary CO Name Narrative Darrell Ashworth :00 - CO Ashworth attends site, confirmed brown bear, not grizzly bear. Bear shot by producer. verified bear/calf predation. Disposed of carcasses. Verficiation form completed on June 10th, Concluded. Joel Kline 1222 CO Kline called COM, she has had a decent sized GB hanging around her house and s.22 eating choke cherries and clover in the field. It has not been there 5 days and is getting more used to the humans as they go from one house to the next. COM has some livestock and live next to s.22 which has multiple young calves nearby. COM'ss.22, COM is concerned for them both as GB does not show signs of leaving at this time. CO Kline advised that no CO available to attend at this time, advised to use a gun to scare off GB, and that if they need to protect themselves and the bear is threatening their safety they can destroy it but must call in to COS immediately. CO Kline advised COM to hold tight for 2 days and call if things get worse and he will try to contact WL COS to see if they are able to respond. Bear has been a persistent problem for the past 10 days. C/N who lives in the house is a s.22 they have been house bound for 6 days. The bear has been in the yard and around the house during this time. s.22 attended this morning at the request of the home owner and shot the bear CO Bell s.22 Black Bear Fruit trees Com attended COS office to complain about a BB getting into his crab apple tree for last 3 days Outcome: CO BELL discussed issue with corn. Bear has been around for last 3 nights accessing the fruit trees in his yard. First 2 nights bear was there at dark last night bear was there in evening. Bear does scare off but returns later on. Corn is concerned his dogs will get attacked. CO BELL advised COS is not interested in destroying a bear eating fruits that is still wary of people. CO BELL suggested looking into electric fence if he wants to harvest his fruit trees in the future. Dogs to be kept indoors. CO BELL advised he will contact Alexis RCMP and see if they have rubber slugs they are faster to respond and can haze bear off property. If issues persist than COS can reassess and look at other options. CO BELL contacted Cpl Murray MCNEIL with Alexis and confirmed they have rubber slugs and are willing to attend and haze bear. Advice provided.25 Pls close file TYRE TYRE called OCC, advised by OCC that a member was attending and requested CO's eta. TYRE advised that it would take at least 1hr to drive that distance, will await report from attending officer and make decision from there hrs TYRE called OCC and inquired outcome of member attending bear complaint.
