This time, however, we feel it is more special than usual. Because for the first time in the 2012 WSK season we are outside of Italy, breathing that truly European air that has the scent of adrenaline, but even more so because this is our first time at the Val D Argenton karting circuit. And, like any first time, the normal feeling of being in the process of building something great doubles up with the awareness Luca De Donno of having added a new son to the great WSK family. Welcome to Le Breuil sous Argenton. È vero, ogni gara WSK è un mondo a sé e, per chi la organizza, la vive, o la racconta, è sempre un occasione particolare. Questa volta, però, la sentiamo un po più particolare del solito. Perché per la prima volta nella stagione WSK 2012 siamo fuori dall Italia, a respirare quell aria davvero europea che profuma di adrenalina; e, soprattutto, perché siamo per la prima volta al kartodromo di Val D Argenton. E, come ogni prima volta, alle abituali sensazioni di star costruendo qualcosa di bello, si aggiunge l idea, che tanto ci piace, di aver aggiunto un nuovo fi glio alla grande famiglia WSK. 4 KZ1 report Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart/Vortex; Tony Kart Racing Team) TWO-WIN DREEZEN DOPPIETTA DI DREEZEN Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart/Vortex) is fi rst under the checkered fl ag in Final 2, followed by Bas Lammers (Praga /Parilla): in the last lap Lammers had bumped into Dreezen while overtaking and, at the next corner - to avoid a penalty and play fair - returned the top spot to his Tony Kart rival. Third at the fi nish is Jonathan Thonon (CRG/ Maxter), though he later gets a 7 second penalty for a contact and ranks fourth in the standings. Joey Hanssen (Lenzo/TM) thus becomes third. While Dreezen is the fastest in Friday s qualifying, the two wins in Saturday s heats are by Ciro Mollo (CRG/TM) and Bas Lammers, while both Sunday heats belong to Thonon. In Final 1 second on the podium is the 2012 Master Series Champion Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart/Vortex) and third is Thonon. The weekend sees nice performances also by Paolo De Conto (Birel/BMB) and Ben Hanley (ArtGP/TM), who in Final 2 is a front runner, with only a contact to slow him down. Terzo al traguardo della gara Jonathan Thonon (CRG/Maxter) che, però, viene penalizzato di 7 secondi per un contatto ed è quarto in classifi ca. Terzo, così Joey Hanssen (Lenzo/TM). Dreezen è il più veloce nelle qualifi che di venerdì, sabato nelle due manche vincono Ciro Mollo (CRG/TM) e Bas Lammers, mentre domenica tutte e due le manche sono di Thonon. In Finale 1, Dreezen domina davanti al campione della Master Series 2012 Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart/Vortex) e al connazionale Thonon. 8 KF2 report Charles Leclerc (ART/Parilla; Art Grand Prix S.r.l.) LECLERC TRIUMPHS TRIONFO DI LECLERC The Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Intrepid/TM) on Friday scores best lap in Superpole, wins all fi ve of his qualifi cation heats and is fi rst also in the prefi nal: everything seems to be going at its best for the Dutchman, but... in the fi rst half of a rainy fi nal there is so much water on track that he ends up in a one-eighty as he has the race lead. Verstappen is then forced to work his way back up from the back and in the end places only seventh. The second and very fast runner is the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (ArtGP/Parilla), who snatches the lead and with a nice pace succeeds in gaining a considerable gap to win the Final. PALOU UNSTOPPABLE PALOU INARRESTABILE The big news of the 2012 Euro Series is the Superpole: in KF3 Dalton Sargeant (Tony Kart/Vortex) is the one who scores the fastest lap. The star of the ten qualifi cation heats is the Spaniard Alex Palou (CRG/BMB) who leads the combined standings, followed by the Russian driver Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart/BMB), and in third place Callum Ilott (Zanardi/Parilla). In Prefi nal A Palou wins undisturbed, followed by Ilott and Luca Corberi (Kosmic/Vortex), who was ninth at the start. In Prefi nal B Sitnikov wins, behind him are Ticktum (Zanardi/Parilla) and Valentin Naud (Formula K/ TM). In the Final Palou ends his great weekend crossing the fi nish fi rst, followed by English driver Callum Ilott, Nikita Sitnikov and George Russell (Intrepid/Vortex). The second at the fi nish-line in the fi nal is the American Logan Sargeant (Tony Kart/LKE) and third is the new WSK Master Series champion Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart/LKE) whose weekend starts in the worst way possible: he skips the qualifying and has to recover from the back. Fourth is Rokas Baciuska (Top Kart/LKE) who is very quick all weekend and, besides winning the third heat, also does the best recovery of the fi nal: he starts twenty-third and after nineteen passes is fourth. Saturday s heats are won by Max Fewtrell (Top Kart/ LKE), fi fth in the fi nal, and Artur Aleks Karkosik (Tony Kart/ LKE) who on Friday is also fi rst in qualifying practice.
