4 TM Mitchell DeJong At an age when most kids were driving Hot Wheels cars across the carpet pretending to be race car drivers, Mitchell DeJong was winning race championships. He won his 1st two championships in the same year in two different disciplines of racing at age 9. After a racing career that has moved him from go- karts to off-road modified trucks to Legend cars; 14-year-old DeJong steps up to the next off-road challenge pitting DeJong against drivers twice his age. But for a driver who knew at age 3 that he would be a racer, and whose talents have attracted the attention of big name sponsors; racing in the pro classes is just another challenge that DeJong will tackle with the tenacity and skill he uses to attack the race course. In 2009, DeJong caught the attention of Traxxas, The Fastest Name In Radio Control. For DeJong, already an avid Traxxas car enthusiast, becoming a Traxxas team driver was a perfect fit. Another turning point in DeJong s young career was when the most eminent energy drink in the world, Red Bull, having an affinity for spotting unique talent took notice. Red Bull brought DeJong in to their arsenal of elite athletes in 2010 and will train Mitchell in the art and skill of professional representation, including media training, sponsor representation and driver development. In the Pro Buggy Unlimited class, Mitchell DeJong has already been back to his winning ways after grabbing the first two wins of the 2012 season at Glen Helen Raceway in California. After only two test sessions he qualified top in the class, won both main events, and set a new track record of 47.6 seconds, besting the previous record by 0.3 seconds. Then DeJong traveled to the east coast and won the opening round of the TORC series at the dirt track of Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina with an 18 second lead to the finish line over second place. So while his peers are still years away from getting their driving licenses and stepping behind the wheel of a vehicle; DeJong is already nine years into a racing career and he aspires to be the most accomplished driver ever. Fully Assembled Ready-To-Race Ready-To-Win Waterproof Receiver Box A ground-breaking new waterproof receiver box is another Traxxas innovation that puts Bandit in a league of its own. To protect the receiver from dust and water a custom shaped blue O-ring seals the receiver box. The antenna and servo wires route neatly through a special watertight seal. Thanks to the unique design, the receiver can be removed for service and aftermarket receivers can be used without losing the sealing properties of the box. Titan 12T Motor The Titan 12T is a modified highperformance fan-cooled 550 motor that features a 30% longer armature than a standard 540 size motor. The 12-turn wind delivers quick acceleration off the line and blistering top speeds. The integrated fan pulls air through the motor for increased cooling and motor life. Steel Magnum 272 The Magnum 272 transmission features an innovative Torque-Control slipper clutch, metal gears, and precision ball bearings for race-proven durability and speed. The Revo -Spec Torque- Control slipper clutch uses semimetallic pads and heat-dissipating, finned aluminum-alloy pressure plates for smooth linear engagement and consistent traction control. Planetary Differential The Traxxas planetary gear differential uses hardened steel internal gears for maximum strength during rigorous off-road maneuvers. This type of differential requires virtually no maintenance and its efficient design puts maximum tire-shredding power to the wheels. Ultra Shocks Bandit s super-smooth oil-filled shocks damp the suspension and maintain control for precise off-road driving. They are fully tunable with a wide range of oils, springs, and pistons.
