1 2017 Road America 100 Karting Enduro Supplementary Regulations The Road America 100 Karting Enduro event will consist of a morning open practice followed by 2-50 minute races for each group on a track configuration not run during the season. Karts will be required to pit at least once during each race for a driver change so drive time can be split among 2-4 drivers. Tentative Schedule 9 am... Gate 4 Opens 9:30-11:00... Open Practice 11:15... Drivers Meeting 11:40-12:30... Group 1 Race 1 (50 min enduro) 12:45-1:35... Group 2 Race 1 (50 min enduro) 1:50-2:40... Group 1 Race 2 (50 min enduro) 2:55-3:45... Group 2 Race 2 (50 min enduro) Group 1 will tentatively consist of All Briggs classes and Yamaha Sportsman. Group 2 will tentatively consist of Yamaha Lite/Heavy, Komet, TAG, DD2, Shifters. Weigh-In Teams should weigh in at the scale sometime during practice and must be completed prior to the drivers meeting. All drivers on the team in race gear plus the kart must be present. Weight will be calculated by the average weight of the team s drivers in race gear plus the weight of the kart. If a team does not weigh in, they will be assessed a 5 lap penalty. Teams will be penalized 1 lap for every 10 pounds they are underweight. Practice The drag strip area in front of the timing and scoring building will consist of 2-way traffic. Karts should travel on the right side of the strip in the direction they are traveling similar to any roadway. Karts entering the track should keep to the coned lane closest to the track while karts exiting the track through pit lane will proceed in the coned lane on the T&S side of the drag strip. No karts should be running beyond the bicycle fencing to the south of the timing building. Proceed with extreme caution in this entire area! High speed traveling through this area may result in a penalty lap assessed for the race. When entering the track, drivers will travel down the drag strip along the cyclone fence, follow the coned line to the blend area, and proceed to the track. Pit Stops and Fueling During the race, there will only be 2 karts allowed on the Hot Pit at any given time. Once this number is reached, the Pit Marshall shall display the Red Flag with the Yellow Cross. This flag will signify that the hot pit road is closed.. Once the number of karts has decreased below the maximum, the Pit Marshall shall withdraw the flag signifying that the hot pit road is once again open. Each team is allowed 3 people total during a pit stop, the driver coming in from the track, the driver getting into the kart, and a crew member/adult/parent to assist with fueling. There is no fueling allowed while a driver is seated in the kart. Engines must be shut off while fueling. If you need to make a setup change, kart adjustment or repair that will take more than 2 minutes, your kart should be moved to the work area on the drag strip.

2 Black Flag/Meatball Flag Penalties for infractions will be determined before a Black Flag will be issued. In addition, each team may request a Black Flag for their driver once during the race. This can be done by contacting a race official. Once a Black Flag has been determined, the number of the kart in question will be posted to the Black Flag board and the appropriate Black Flag will be waved to that kart. The driver is to proceed to Pit Road and follow the instructions of the Pit Steward. Possible penalties include, but are not limited to, pass-through, stop-and-go, and stop-and-hold. If a Meatball Flag has been issued, the kart will not be allowed to re-enter the track until the issue has been resolved. Surface Flag If debris, liquid, dirt, or anything that would inhibit grip is found on the track, the Corner Marshall will display a red and yellow striped flag. (If a Track Safety Light governs the sector, the light will display alternating pattern of red and yellow boxes.) This is the Surface Flag. This flag will be displayed for approximately 2 laps and subsequently withdrawn. This does not necessarily mean that grip has improved; by withdrawing the flag, race officials reserve the right to display the flag again if grip changes. Local Yellow A yellow flag or light may be displayed at any corner at the discretion of the Corner Marshal or other race official. When the yellow flag is standing or the yellow light is solid, there may be a slow kart in that sector, or there may be a larger issue in the next sector. Drivers are to exercise caution. When the yellow flag is waving or the yellow light is flashing, drivers are to exercise extreme caution, as there may be a stopped kart on or near the track or other major issue that prohibits racing. This also declares a No Passing Zone beginning at a plane across the track adjacent to the flag (or light) and ending at plane across the track adjacent to the incident or the next non-yellow flag (or light), whichever comes first. Penalties will be assessed for overtaking a competitor in a No Passing Zone. The Starter is the Corner Marshall for sector 1. As such, a single yellow flag at the Starter s stand shall be treated as a Local Yellow using the definitions described above. Full Course Caution/Full Course Yellow (FCY) When a kart is distressed and cannot make it back to pit road under its own power, Starter may declare a FCY. Once a FCY is declared, all lights will change to flashing yellow, all Corner Marshalls shall display a double standing yellow, and Pit Road will close. The Safety Car will pick up the first kart to acknowledge the FCY regardless of running position. The proper linear running order will be restored as described below. Resuming the Race after FCY The number of the overall race leader will be posted on the Black Flag Board during the entire caution period. When the Kart Pickup crew is leaving the scene, they will radio Starter. Starter will give the one to go signal at the flag stand. At that time, the Safety Car driver will wave all karts in front of the overall race leader around the Safety Car. All wave-around traffic should pass to the right of the Safety Car. Wave-around traffic should stay in single file and use the kid kart cutoff (or other designated route) to catch up to the tail end of the field at an accelerated, but safe, speed. Restart order will be single file in linear order beginning with the overall race leader. This means that the first kart behind the Safety Car should be the overall race leader; the second kart behind the Safety Car may be a lapped kart if it was immediately behind the overall race leader at the time of FCY. No attempt will be made to move karts

3 to their positional order. If a wave-around-eligible kart does not take the wave-around by the time the Safety Car gets to the kid kart cutoff (or other designated route), that kart forfeits their right to take the wave around and will take the green flag wherever they are, even if that is immediately in front of the race leader. Red Flag Should a Red Flag be declared, all karts are to come to a safe and controlled stop at the edge of the track, driver s right. Once stopped, look for instructions from the nearest Corner Marshall or other race official. Be sure to follow all instructions given by Corner Marshalls and other race officials. Resuming the Race after Red Flag The procedure for resuming a race after a Red Flag remains the same as any regular race. Karts will be placed single file in order of the previous completed lap, per WKA.
