1 RESULTS KENOSHA VELOSPORT 32nd Annual Spring Training Races Sunday, March 13, 2011 LakeView Corporate Park Pleasant Prairie, WI The Tour of Illinois & Wisconsin Season Opener/ROTY Event First Outdoor race of the season was dry, mid to high 30 s, less then 10mph wind, partly cloudy and the roads were in very good condition. 32 YEARS of Kenosha Velosport Spring Criteriums Big Thanks to the Team!! Don t miss the next two dates of racing this great course March 20 and 27. 8:45am 10/12 & 13/14 Boys/Girls 20 Min Mid 30 s less then 10 mph wind and the youngest racers lined up for their 20 minute race, the 1 st outdoor race of the 2011 season. This was a race of who could stay with the field, but no one gave up, they raced. 2 9:15am 15/16 & 17/18 Boys/Girls (Jr. Open) 30 Min Large field of Junior racers age 15 to 18 competed 30 minutes, the speeds varied as riders alternately pushed the pace trying out wear each other out or break away. Leif Byrge-Liebig won the field sprint. Art, Bill, Jack chased and Rich was trying to hook up but landed in no mans land between the break chasers and the field. Tim out sprinted Richard for the win, Jack overpowered Bill and Art for third. 3 Women Open & Women Cat 4, Master Women 40+, 35 Min These Women race Classes raced together, or at least started together. After a few laps the 5 women open riders were away from the field as a group. One lap later two fields were set, with a few laps to go Team Schneider (Tibco) started drilling for a break or wearing down the competition. The sprint was Sam Schneider all the way with Elizabeth, Skylar and Antonia vying for 2 nd. Christine won the Field sprint. 5 1:00pm Category 5 30 Minutes 30 minutes of racing for the Cat 5 beginner racers. These riders for the most part have only been racing one or two years. They stayed together as a pack for the race. A final lap crash took out several riders, with Nolan Gottlieb suffering a hard hit to his chin. Several riders told me he was riding well, pushing the pace but got caught behind a crash. Nolan was the only racer today wearing short sleeves and shorts. Everyone else was covered in leggings, arm warmers, jackets, tights. Ben Stengel won the field sprint. We hope Nolan has a quick and full recovery. Numerous riders were keeping the pace from slowing down for long.
