The ranking was based on total poll appearances, number of times ranked No. 1 and AP national championships. Ohio State has been ranked in the AP Top 25 poll more than any other school and the Buckeyes also have the most weeks ranked as the No. 1 school in the nation: 105. Ohio State has appeared in the AP poll for 78 of the 81 years it has been determined to rank No. 1 in that category as well. On top of those impressive statistics are five AP national championships: in 1942, 1954, 1968, 2002 and two years ago in 2014 when Ohio State won the first-ever College Football Playoff and also was awarded the AP national title and the USA Today Coaches Poll national crown. SEVEN TO CAPTAIN THE BUCKEYES IN 2016 Soon after the Fiesta Bowl Ohio State coach Urban Meyer named junior quarterback J.T. Barrett, senior center Pat Elflein and junior linebacker Raekwon McMillan as team captains for the 2016 season. Last Friday (Aug. 26), he added to this year s leadership corps by announcing four more individuals, who were chosen by team vote, to captain the team. Note: The 5x8x1-inch size is an 8.5x11-inch piece of paper folded in half. The policy will result in an increased level of security and improve the game experience for fans. There will be one exception to the policy with regard to the size of handbags: Guests with medical or childcare needs will be permitted to carry one bag, no larger than 14x14x4-inches, into the stadium through one of these locations: the Band Center entrance between Gates 10 and 12 or the Press Entrance between the Huntington Club and Gate 23. While similar bag policies have worked well with few issues at select stadiums around the Big Ten Conference, fans will still be encouraged to arrive at the stadium early. Gates open two hours prior to kickoff. All items and persons entering Ohio Stadium are subject to inspection. 8

13 OHIO STADIUM: HOME OF THE BUCKEYES Ohio Stadium is one of the most recognizable landmarks in all of sports. Built in 1922 at a cost of $1.3 million and refurbished in 2001 for slightly more than $194 million, the horseshoe-shaped stadium is a monument to college football. As part of the renovation, the once portable South Stands became a permanent fixture. Ohio Stadium is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. Anyone who has seen a game in the giant horseshoe understands why. There are few experiences in athletics that are more enjoyable! 18 HEAD COACH URBAN MEYER QUICK FACTS Hometown: Ashtabula, Ohio High School: St. John Alma Mater: Cincinnati, 1986 Master s Degree: Ohio State, 1988 Years as Head Coach: 15th (5th year at Ohio State) Wife: Shelley Children: Daughters, Nicole and Gigi, and son, Nathan COACHING ASSIGNMENTS 2012-present Head Coach... Ohio State Head Coach... Florida Head Coach... Utah Head Coach...Bowling Green Wide Receivers...Notre Dame Wide Receivers... Colorado State 1989 Quarterbacks/Wide Receivers...Illinois State 1988 Outside Linebackers...Illinois State 1987 Grad Assistant (Wide Receivers)... Ohio State 1986 Grad Assistant (Tight Ends)... Ohio State Urban Meyer is 58-5 in his fifth season as head coach at The Ohio State University. His 50-4 record entering the season represented a record number of wins for a four-year run at the Football Bowl Subdivision level, with Boise State ( ) and Alabama ( ) having also achieved that milestone record along with Ohio State. Meyer s 2015 Buckeye senior class was the first Power 5 school to achieve the 50-win mark. His four-plus seasons at Ohio State, on top of an equally impressive 10-year run as head coach at three previous schools, have allowed Meyer to build a resume that has him positioned among the best collegiate coaches ever. He has the highest winning percentage.852 among those with at least 10 years of coaching experience at a four-year college, and he has the sixth-highest winning percentage all-time among all coaches regardless of division with at least 10 years of experience at a four-year school. Meyer s teams are in his 15+ seasons as head coach with three national championships and an 11-victory per year pace that, if it continues, will position him with the most victories as an FBS head coach after his first 15 seasons and allow him to reach 200 victories faster than any other coach. Meyer s achievements and winning ways are impressive and also consistent. Consider: In leading Ohio State to the 2014 College Football Playoff national championship for his third national title he won titles in 2006 and 2008 at Florida Meyer became part of an elite group of two coaches to win national titles at two different schools since 1936 when the Associated Press began using their poll of sportswriters and broadcasters; He is the only coach to win national championships in two different conferences; He is the first coach in modern history since 1937 when the NCAA began keeping records to win at least 13 games in consecutive years (in 2008 and 2009), three times ( ) and four times ( at Florida and 2014 at Ohio State); He is second in the history of major college football with four 13-plus win seasons (tied with Nick Saban and Penn s George Woodruff), trailing only Walter Camp s five from ; Meyer is the only coach in major college history to have four different winning streaks of at least 20 games (20 with Utah/Florida; 22 at Florida; 25 with Florida and Ohio State; and 23 at Ohio State). Only eight other coaches have had even two winning streaks of at least 20 games; Meyer won more games his first 10 years 104 than all but two coaches in college football history (Penn s George Woodruff won 124 games between ; Oklahoma s Bob Stoops won 109 between ); and Meyer reached 100 wins faster than all but one coach Bud Wilkinson in the last 57 years and faster than all but five coaches all-time.
