6 WR A.J. Jenkins - 1st Round - 30th Overall A versatile wide receiver, A.J. Jenkins possesses the skill set to line up at all three receiver positions. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Jenkins became just the second player in Illinois history to register 90 receptions in a season, as a senior. His 1,276 receiving yards ranked second in school history. I think he s a guy that can just about do everything. The separation he can get, it just comes natural. Especially coming out sideways, breaking down, getting in and out of cuts, things like that. He has a great feel, great body language. I think it s something that is one of his strengths. 49ers QB Alex Smith 2012 DRAFT CLASS LB Darius Fleming - 5th Round - 165th Overall A versatile athlete who played both defensive end and outside linebacker for the Fighting Irish, Darius Fleming ranks 10th in Notre Dame history with 15 career sacks. He posted 158 career tackles and was named Notre Dame s Lineman of the Year in 2011, after recording 55 tackles. Fleming was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List on 8/27. Another great gold helmet guy. We believe he will have an outstanding opportunity with this football team. We rolled the dice last year with only three outside linebackers. It worked, but that is risky what we did last year. He will be competitive and has a tremendous upside. Looking forward to that. - 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh RB LaMichael James - 2nd Round - 61st Overall LaMichael James became the first two-time consensus All-America selection in Oregon history. In 2011, James led the nation, averaging rushing yards per game, and ranked 2nd in the NCAA with 1,805 rushing yards. The recipient of the Doak Walker Award as the nation s top running back in 2010, James became just the third player in Pac-10/12 Con- ference history to rush for over 5,000 yards in his career. LaMichael James is fast. When you really look at LaMichael and the body of work he put together in college, he was a very effective inside and outside runner. He s a tough, in-between-the-tackles runner in college and now it s a matter of just him adapting to that in the pros. We re throwing it all at him and we re going to just evaluate and get a feel for what he s good at. - 49ers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman G Joe Looney - 4th Round - 117th Overall A four-year starter at left guard for Wake Forest, Joe Looney was a Second-Team All-ACC selection, in In each of the last two seasons, Looney graded out as the team s highest-rated offensive lineman. Really bright guy. Really smart, smart person. Not only book smart, but street smart, football smart. Everything matched up. Everything that you d heard about Joe and all of our research that we did on Joe at the school. You cannot find a person on that campus who has anything less than glowing things to say about him. Professors, coaches, trainers, equipment managers, from faculty to football to everybody that comes in contact with him there literally not a negative word. And you see what he s done, the pattern of success that he s had in the classroom, on the field. And then to meet him and to see and know that it all matches up, that was glaring to me. 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh S Trenton Robinson - 6th Round - 180th Overall A three-year starter at Michigan State, Trenton Robinson was elected team captain his senior year as the Spartans led the Big Ten and ranked 6th in the nation in total defense (277.4 yds./gm.). Robinson registered a career high 80 tackles and was named First-Team All-Big Ten, in He also led the Spartans with 4 INTs in each of his final two seasons. I think Trenton s done a good job of improving from the first day he got here in the offseason after the rookies came in in May. He was swimming then a little bit mentally. I think he s gotten better, has a little better feel for our package, yet still has a long way to go, but he s gotten better. 49ers Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio LB Cam Johnson - 7th Round - 237th Overall A versatile linebacker who can play multiple positions, Cam Johnson was named Third-Team All-ACC in 2010 after registering a career-high 53 tackles and ranked sixth in the league with 6.5 sacks. Johnson led Virginia in both sacks and TFLs in each of his final two seasons. The guy obviously has talent. And like we told him, he s another guy that should come into the National Football League with a chip on his shoulder. He s a guy that believed he should have been a much higher pick. For whatever reason teams passed him over, and you like that. You like that about guys, come in here feeling that they were looked past and have a chip on their shoulder and are ready to compete for a position. - 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke

7 1 QB Josh Johnson - 6-3, 205-5th Year A product of then-head coach Jim Harbaugh at the University of San Diego, Josh Johnson is in his 5th pro season. Johnson completed 96 of 177 passes for 1,042 yards and 5 touchdowns while with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the last four seasons. A 25-yearold native of Oakland, CA, Johnson owns four USD career passing records including touchdown passes (113), completions (724), attempts (1,065) and passing yards (9,699). The great thing about Josh is just how smart he is. He s got a real high football IQ. He s coming from a West Coast system in Tampa Bay and he s thrilled to be back in the Bay area. Everyone knows about his athletic ability, but the thing that you get when you re in meetings and then when you see him out on the field is just how smart he is with his football IQ. We re excited to have him here. - 49ers Quarterbacks Coach Geep Chryst 14 WR Mario Manningham - 6-0, 185-5th Year Selected in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, Manningham recorded 160 receptions for 2,315 yards and 18 touchdowns over the past four seasons. In 2011, he played in 12 regular season games (10 starts) tallying 39 receptions for 523 yards and 4 touchdowns. Quickness, explosiveness, he s a very polished receiver. I think he s very swift in and out of his breaks. I tell a lot of the guys it s like he s crossing over with a basketball out there. You really have to be patient; he makes you a very patient player guarding him every day. 49ers CB Tarell Brown 20 CB Perrish Cox - 6-0, 190-2nd Year Cox was originally a fifth round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft. Cox has played in 15 games (9 starts), tallying 54 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception and ranked third among NFL rookies with a team-high 14 passes defensed, in A key special team s player, Cox made four tackles on special teams as well as returned nine kickoffs for 172 yards. Quick guy, he is always around the football. He has a lot of potential and will help this football team. He has a lot still to learn. He is showing up on film. He is around the ball all of the time and getting his hands on balls, and that s a big thing in the secondary. 49ers S Dashon Goldson 28 RB Rock Cartwright - 5-8, th Year A 10-year veteran, Cartwright spent his first eight seasons with the Redskins ( ), before playing the past two with the Oakland Raiders ( ). In his career, Cartwright has played in 154 games (5 starts), recording 228 carries for 956 yards and 6 touchdowns. A key special teams contributor, he has returned 231 kicks for 5,450 yards (23.6 avg.) and one touchdown, in addition to logging g 93 tackles on those units. Here s a very intelligent- I can t say young man because he s been around for a long time, but a real professional when it comes to playing the game and practicing the game. The guy always knows what he s supposed to do, works really hard and is a great person in the locker room and on the field. We re really glad he s here. - 49ers Assistant Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator Brad Seely KEY FREE AGENT ACQUISITIONS 45 RB Brandon Jacobs - 6-4, 264-8th Year Jacobs was originally selected in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. The seven-year veteran has played in 100 games (48 starts) for the Giants, rushing for 4,849 yards, and a franchise-record 56 touchdowns, on 1,078 carries. Jacobs also recorded 80 receptions for 730 yards and four touchdowns. In 2011, he played in 14 games (six starts) and tallied 571 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 152 carries, while adding 15 receptions for 128 yards and one touchdown. Brandon is a guy, and you think back on his career, when he gets his shoulders squared to the line of scrimmage and gets a forward lean, he is something. He s a unique running back. We ve seen a good amount of that. The big thing that I m impressed with Brandon, one of the many things, is he s very critical of himself. He might make a great run and hit it with just some big power. And he ll still say, I could have done this better, I could have done that better and that s an impressive (trait). We like that, we like that, that s what we look for. He s been a great fit 49ers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman 68 G Leonard Davis - 6-6, th Year - 3 Pro Bowls Davis was orginially selected with the second pick overall by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2001 NFL Draft. He has started all 155 games in which he has appeared, was named Second-Team All-Pro in 2007 and is a three-time Pro Bowl selection ( ). After spending six seasons with the Cardinals ( ), Davis was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on March 5, 2007 where he remained with the club for four seasons ( ). (Davis is) working extremely hard to get up to speed. He is right on track and done that. I think that s a product of being a veteran, being somebody who has been in systems and knows the game. He s a physical presence. 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh 84 WR Randy Moss - 6-4, th Year - 6 Pro Bowls One of the most prolific wide receivers in NFL history, Randy Moss joins the 49ers with 13 years of NFL experience. The six-time Pro Bowler, and fourtime AP All-Pro, set the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions in 2007 with 23. Moss has caught 10 or more touchdown passes in nine NFL seasons and registered 10, 1,000-yard receiving campaigns. Moss and Jerry Rice are the only NFL player to register 100 touchdown receptions in fewer than 140 games. In NFL history, he now ranks tied for 2nd with 153 career receiving touchdowns and 9th with 954 receptions. A crafty veteran. Most of the time, you play a guy s eyes or play his hands, Randy is a good guy at not showing you anything. He will let the ball fall into his chest before he puts his hands up. Most guys are going to come out and reach for the ball and give us a chance to break the pass up. Randy is going to make sure the ball is coming to his chest and you can t get to it. - 49ers CB Carlos Rogers

He enrolled at Hawaii to play basketball. Head football coach June Jones saw him play and offered him a tryout with the team, where he eventually became a scholarship athlete. The first time I even thought about playing football was in college. I thought I was going to play basketball. At the time, Alama-Francis weighed just 195 pounds. In the next two years he added nearly 100 pounds to his frame as he developed into a defensive lineman. During his first year on the Warriors football team, he played with current 49ers DT Isaac Sopoaga. Despite not playing football until midway through college, he comes from a football background. Alama-Francis father, Joseph, played QB for the Green Bay Packers in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He served as Bart Starr s backup under Head Coach Vince Lombardi. Alama-Francis understands the importance of giving back to the community and is very outgoing when it comes to charity work. During his time in the NFL he participated in the Miami Dolphins Foundation Golf Tournament, delivered thousands of pounds of food to numerous Metro Detroit relief agencies at the Lift Up America Event and participated in the United Way Hometown Huddle to build a $65,000 fitness trail at the NFL/Youth Education Town in Detroit s Boys & Girls Club. Hawaii s head football coach June Jones asked Alama-Francis to tryout for the gridiron team after seeing his combination of size and athleticism. Alama-Francis made the team and began playing in the 2003 season and eventually earned a scholarship with the football program. He played in 41 games (26 starts) at Hawaii and recorded 112 tackles, 10.0 sacks, 21.5 TFLs, 4 PDs, 6 FRs and 4 FFs. During his senior season in 2006, he made the All-WAC First-Team by the league s coaches, media and The NFL Draft Report and was named to the Super Sleeper Team. He started 13 games and finished the year with 39 tackles, 5.0 sacks, 11 TFLs, 2 PDs, 4 FRs and 2 FFs. Four years ago, he started playing the bass guitar, learning on his own before starting lessons a year later. That passion grew when he joined former Dallas Cowboys offensive linemen teammates Marc Colombo and Cory Procter to form the band Free Reign. The band signed a record deal and released its first album in In the last year, Davis became involved playing music at his local church in Phoenix, Az. Davis strength can be traced back to his youth. His father, L.A. Davis had to drop out of school when he was a teenager, begin working and help support his family. Growing up, Davis helped his family working odd jobs on a farm. We did backbreaking stuff, picking corn with your hands, not with a machine, going through and shredding it, throwing it over and in the tractor, Davis said. You scoop it in a bucket, throw it in the trailer and when its time to unload, you shovel it out. The constant exercise kept Davis in shape and helped build muscle. Davis said his dream of playing in the NFL started in 2nd grade. In elementary and middle school, he helped as a manager for the high school football team. Davis joined a youth football league in 6th grade, but it was difficult for his family to raise enough money to register so he could play sports.
