The Wildcats haven t visited UCLA since the season when they topped the Bruins at Pauley Pavilion. Of Arizona s 10 most recent matchups with UCLA, only three have been in Los Angeles with the Wildcats winning two of three. Senior guard Justin Coleman scored his 1,000th career point earlier this month against Oregon State. He now has 1,020 career points after an eight-point outing at USC. Coleman began his career at Alabama, before transferring to Samford and Arizona. Arizona s bench has outscored its opponent in eight of the past nine games and has only been outscored six times this season. Arizona s bench was outscored by one at USC on Thursday. Sophomore Brandon Randolph is averaging a team-best 15.2 points per game after averaging 3.7 as a freshman last year. His scoring increase of 11.5 points per game is second-best by a Power 5 Conference player this season. Randolph is averaging 10.1 points in the second halves of games this season. He averages 4.9 in the first halves of games. Randolph is shooting 49 percent in the second half, and 33 percent in the first half. Freshman guard Brandon Williams is third in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.2. He had four assists to no turnovers against USC. Williams is fifth among Power 5 freshmen nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio. The Wildcats are second in the Pac-12 in free throw shooting at.748. Washington State leads the league at.749. The Wildcats had one player -- Justin Coleman -- average better than 40 percent from deep. The senior went 18 of 43 for a.419 mark. However, in seven conference games it s been a different story, even with a rough shooting night at USC. The Wildcats are shooting.362 from deep, which ranks fourth in the Pac-12 in conference games only. Senior Dylan Smith has led the way, hitting on 12 of 25 shots from deep in conference games. Brandon Randolph, Justin Coleman and Ryan Luther are all averaging at least one 3-pointer per conference game. Prior to shooting 5 of 25 from 3 against the Trojans, Arizona went 13 of 27 from deep against Oregon State in its most recent home game. The 13 makes were the most in a conference game since Arizona went 18 of 36 against Stanford on March 5, Arizona s season percentage is now at.347, after starting conference play at.326. CONNECTING AT THE LINE Arizona has proven to be one of the top teams in the conference from the free throw line and the Wildcats are among th eleague leaders in the category. Arizona is shooting.748 from the line and rank second in the Pac-12, just one percentage point behind Washington State. Like they have done from the 3-point line, the Wildcats have been even better from the free throw line in league games. The Wildcats are 100 for 129 (.775) from the line in seven conference games. Brandon Randolph and Ira Lee both missed their first free throws in a conference game Thursday against USC. Randolph is 17 for 19 from the line in league games, while Lee is 14 for 16. Brandon Williams is shooting 78 percent, having knocked in 25 of 32 attempts. Arizona has had a better free throw percentage than each of its last six conference opponents, including USC on Thursday night. GETTING DEFENSIVE An area of the game that has become a calling card for Arizona this season is its defense. The Wildcats are third in the Pac-12 in scoring defense at 66.7 points per game. In conference games only, the Wildcats are second in the league, giving up 68.9 points per game. Arizona has held its opponent to fewer than 60 points in four of its last 10 contests. Furthermore, Arizona is ranked 26th in adjusted defensive efficiency at 93.7 per KenPom.com. The Wildcats have also thrived at forcing turnovers by the opponent. The Cats have a +3.6 turnover margin, which is tops in the league. The next closest is Cal at 1.8. In his absence, Dylan Smith and Ryan Luther picked it up. Luther registered his first double-double in an Arizona uniform, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Pittsburgh graduate transfer played 30 minutes off the bench and went 6 for 12 from the floor. Smith, who started at the power forward spot, scored 13 points in a seasonhigh 35 minutes. Smith went 3 for 5 from deep and is 11 for 21 from 3-point range in six conference games. It s a far cry from how Smith opened the season. The redshirt junior from Mobile, Alabama started the season 4 of 18 from 3-point range in the first six games of the year. Additionally, all four 3-pointers came in one game. BENCH PRODUCTION Arizona s bench outscored Oregon State s 25-9 on Saturday, continuing a season-long trend. The Wildcats have outscored their opponent s bench in eight straight games. Arizona has trailed in bench points in just five games this season, outscoring the opponent 13 times and tying once. Arizona s bench is averaging 19.2 points per game on the season. Ryan Luther led the charge off the bench last game with 16 points and 11 rebounds. PAC-12 STANDINGS (As of Jan. 25) Rank Team Pac-12 Overall 1. Washington Arizona Arizona State Oregon State Utah USC UCLA Oregon Colorado Stanford Washington State California MR. 2ND HALF Sophomore Brandon Randolph is Arizona s leading scorer at 15.2 points per game and has scored in double figures in 19 of 20 games this season. As good as Randolph has been all season, he s been at his best in the game s second 20 minutes. Consider: Randolph is averaging 10.1 points per contest in the second half of games and is shooting 49 percent from the floor. In the first half, Randolph averages 4.9 points per contest on 33 percent shooting. Randolph is 17 of 21 from the free throw line in the first half of games and 45 of 49 in the second half. Proving he welcomes the big moment, Randolph is 27 of 27 from the free throw line in the final five minutes of games this season. Randolph also shoots 44 percent from 3 in the second half and 20 percent in the first. 1,000 AND COUNTING Senior Justin Coleman notched his 1,000th career point against Oregon State. The Birmingham, Alabama native began his career at Alabama before transferring to Samford and eventually Arizona for his senior season. Coleman had 14 points against the Beavers and eight more against USC and now has 1,020 points in his four-year career. Coleman had one of his best games of the season against Oregon State in Arizona s most recent home game. He played 35 minutes and added five assists, four rebounds and a career-high five steals to his 14 points. DROPPING DIMES Arizona s assist production has picked up in conference play, something coach Sean Miller attributes to better shot selection. The Wildcats have at least 13 assists in five of seven conference games, and had 12 in their most recent outing against USC. Arizona posted 17 assists against Oregon State in its most recent home game. In Arizona s 13 non-conference games, the Wildcats had 13 or more assists just five times total. Senior Justin Coleman and freshman Brandon Williams are leading the way for Arizona in conference play. Coleman has 23 assists, while Williams has 25. Dylan Smith, Ryan Luther and Brandon Randolph are all averaging at least an assist per game in the early going of conference play. Randolph has 10 assists in seven conference games. He had 11 in 13 non-conference games. Williams had four assists Thursday at USC with no turnovers.

A lot like Terry and Christian, he is a great teammate, somebody who loves the game that we ve known for a long time. Miller Christian Koloko // Center // 7-0, 195 // Chatsworth, Calif. * Three-star recruit * Ranked as a top-ten prospect in California by national recruiting services Ranked as a top-20 center in the country by national recruiting services Christian is a player we targeted almost from Day 1 for two reasons: One, he s 7 feet tall and he s got great hands. He started playing basketball in middle school and he s an international student that comes from a great family and also is an excellent student. Miller Nico Mannion // Guard // 6-3, 180 // Phoenix, Ariz. * Ranked as a top-ten prospect in the country by national recruiting services * Consensus five-star recruit * Ranked as the No.1 point guard in the country by national recruiting services I give Nico a lot of credit because he was the first to jump on board. And true to being a great point guard, you lead from both on offense and defense but often times you lead off the court as well...he paved the way for others to join him. Obviously, him and Josh Green are very good friends because they play on the summer circuit together but Nico is somebody that walks in the door with great size and athleticism. -- Miller ARIZONA: A FREQUENT HOME FOR MCDONALD S ALL-AMERICANS A pair of McDonald s All-Americans joined Arizona as part of the 2017 recruiting class.
