All 11 Owls that saw the floor scored, being led by redshirt junior forward Raven Doyle, who had a double-double, and junior point guard Malia Kency, who put up a team-high 16 points. Notables A trio of Owls hit double-digits in scoring with Kency leading the way with 16 points, 12 of which were generated from beyond the arc. Doyle was named FAU Player of the Game after an impressive performance highlighted by 12 points and 11 rebounds along with three assists. Freshman forward Katelyn O Reilly had 11 points. The offense also was helped along by Julia Jenike who had a team-high six assists in just 11 minutes of play. On the boards, FAU was represented well by returners Melinda Myers and Ra Kyra Gabriel who had eight and seven rebounds, respectively. On the Court with Coach Jay It was a good first game, especially for our freshmen to get out here and get some of the nerves out, get on the court and get in front of the fans. I thought the freshmen came out and they did some good things for us. I also am not surprised from what we saw from her (Raven Doyle) today because that s what we have been seeing from her in the past couple months. I thought Raven has stepped up her game and has taken on a leadership role for us. The Owls rode to victory on the backs of returning juniors Nika Zyryanova, who had a career-high 20 points, and Sasha Cedeno, who came away with 17 of her own and six boards. Notables FAU Player of the Game Zyryanova set a new career-high with 20 points on 8-of-14 shots and 4-for- 6 from the perimeter. Cedeno went 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and had a total of 17 points and six defensive rebounds. Forward Raven Doyle again had an impressive performance on defense with a team-leading 10 boards while junior guard Malia Kency had a personal best six assists, The team shot a season-high 62.5 percent from the field in the first quarter as 10-of-16 shots hit their mark. The Owls won the turnover battle earning 19 points off of Indiana State s 16 turnovers. On the Court with Coach Jay I was proud of our rebounding effort. I was also extremely proud of when they (ISU) went on a run in the third quarter and went up six or seven; having a young team like we do we could have easily folded, but I thought we held our composure and fought to take the lead back. Sasha was feeling it tonight, so we tried to get her some open looks and some shots. Overall I really like our fight. We have to continue to stay together.

The Lady Toppers were 19-of-21 from the free throw line as the Owls had 21 fouls. On the Court with Coach Jay I thought we handled their pressure well. I also am proud of our effort in the second half. Our goal was to come out and win each quarter in the second half. We won the third and we tied the fourth, so I was happy with that. We were more aggressive tonight offensively getting to the basket and looking to get into the paint. Defensively, even though the score doesn t necessarily show it, I thought we showed some good things. There is a reason they are the defending conference champs.
