Friday s contest will mark the 57th meeting all-time between the Crusaders and the Panthers. The Crusaders radio call will be broadcasted live on the LetsGo- BigMoe.com by ESP Media s Jeff Schnedl on play-by-play and Rob Ebel as the color analyst. The game will also be televised on tape delay by Star64 on Saturday afternoon at 1pm with Steve Jarnicki on play-by-play and Richard Skinner as the color analyst. SERIES HISTORY: The Crusaders and the Panthers will be meeting for the 57th time on Friday night. The Crusaders hold a advantage in the all-time series and have won 5 of the last 6 meetings. The Crusaders defeated the Panthers twice in the 2013 season, once in week 6 by a final of at The Pit and in the regional quarterfinals of the OHSAA Playoffs by a final of 24-0 at the University of Cincinnati s Nippert Stadium. CINCINNATI ELDER: The Panthers are led by 18th year head coach, Doug Ramsey and come into Friday nights contest 4-2 this season. One of the Panthers two losses came at the hands of McDonogh (MD). Archbishop Moeller fell to #3 in Region 2 in of the Harbin computer rankings and fell in the Associated Press state poll to #6. Big Moe fell out of MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Rankings and USA Today s National Rankings following last weeks defeat. COGHLIN COUNTDOWN: With his field goal versus Cincinnati La Salle, junior kicker Matt Coghlin inched 3 points closer to the top spot for all-time kicking points. Coghlin needs 14 points to become the all-time points kicking holder in Archbishop Moeller football history. Before the Moeller offense settled in, it was the Crusaders defense that caused havoc all night for the Panthers offense and senior QB Christian Whitner. The Crusaders defense lead by senior LB Mitch Brauning and junior LB John Griga, who combined for 15.5 tackles, held Pickerington North to 86 rushing yards on the evening. Archbishop Moeller s got on the board in the late second quarter on a 25 touchdown reception by senior Chase Pankey from senior Matt Crable to take a 7-0 lead. The Crusaders added on to their lead midway through the 3rd quarter, as quarterback Matt Crable, ran it in from 14 yards out to extend the lead to 14. The key series of the night for the Crusaders defense came following a turnover in Big Moe s territory in the late 3rd quarter. The Crusaders kept the Panthers off the scoreboard following a goal line stand, that saw Pickerington North have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th and goal from inside Archbishop Moeller s 10 yard line. The Crusaders added a final score early in the 4th quarter on a 4 yard run by junior Demetrius Yett. The Panthers got on the board late in the 4th quarter on a 41 yard reception by Jaye Williams to tally the 21-6 final. The Crusaders junior kick Matt Coghlin moved into 8th all-time for career kicking points leaders at Archbishop Moeller with his 3 extra points. Coghlin now sits alone with 100 career points. Friday, September 5th -Roettger Stadium- Lockland, OH Attendance: 4,000 - RADIO: ESP Media Lockland, OH ~ Big Moe continued their success against CovCath and extended its winning streak dating back to the 2013 season to 8 games by blanking the Colonels, The Crusaders took control right out the gate, when junior Demetrius Yett took it 59 yards on the second play of the game to give the Crusaders a 7-0 lead. CovCath s best scoring chance of the night came with 8:41 left to go in the first quarter after a Sterling Noes fumble. The Colonels had the ball inside the Crusaders 10 yard line, but were unable to move it any closer on 4 downs. The Crusaders added on to their lead on a 11 yard rush by Noes and a 2 point conversation by Doug Bates, late in the first quarter to jump out to a 15-0 lead. The Crusaders added a 46 yard field goal by junior Matt Coghlin midway through the 2nd quarter to extend the lead to The final scoring of the first half came when Matt Crable connected with Chase Pankey for a 35 yard touchdown pass to send the Crusaders into the locker room up The Crusaders would add two more scores in the second half. One came when Jack Meyer picked up a CovCath fumble and scampered 51 yards for the score and the other came on a 86 yard touchdown reception from Crable to sophomore Hunter Hughes for the final 30-0 tally. Archbishop Moeller s defense was stellar again, allowing only 233 total yards all night and only 49 nigh the ground. The Crusaders took control from their opening offensive drive and never looked back. Senior quarterback Matt Crable hit junior tight end Jake Hausmann from 15 yards out to give the Crusaders a 7-0 lead. This was followed by a Xenia turnover, when senior Christian Wersel intecepted Xenia s Danny Naylor to set up the Crusaders for a second scoring chance. This drive was capped off by a 31 yard strike from Crable to senior wide receiver Keegan Riley that gave the Crusaders a 14-0 lead. The Crusaders would add on 3 more scores in the first quarter that included touchdown passes from Crable to junior Kyle Butz, senior Jack Toomb and a 6 yard running touchdown by senior Ben Gruber. The Crusaders defense allowed only 193 total yards and only 37 yards on the ground The Crusaders were led defensively by senior linebacker Ryan Stofko who accounted for 8.5 tackles and 1 sack and senior defensive tackle Elijah Taylor who had 7 tackles and 2 sackes. The Crusaders first score of the game came early in the first quarter when senior linebacker Chad Campbell picked off the Bombers, Sean Clifford for a 16 yard, pick six, that gave the Crusaders a early 7-0 lead. The Crusaders defensive pressure continued in the first quarter forcing a fumble on the Bombers next drive that led to a 37 yard field goal from junior Matt Coghlin to extend the lead to The Bombers got on the board late in the first half on a 24 yard pass from Clifford to Ronnie Fricke to trim the Crusaders lead to The Crusaders came out on the opening drive of the second half, after the Bombers tried a on-side kick that was unsuccessful and truned it in 3 points on a 47 yard field goal from Coghlin to extend the lead to The Crusaders defense made it stand up due to the play of senior s Ryan Stofko, Elijah Taylor, Rick Raga, Daniel Shirk and junior Bradley Packer who combined for 6 sacks for 34 yards on the night. Friday, October 3rd - Lancer Stadium Cincinnati, OH Attendance: 5,000 - RADIO: ESP Media Cincinnati, OH ~ The Crusaders travel to the southern end of North Bend road for a battle with unbeaten Cincinnati La Salle and came up on the short end of a 34-9 final. The Crusaders were led offensively by senior quarterback Matt Crable who threw for 292 yards and a touchdown and by junior wide receiver Kyle Butz who had 10 catches for 118 yards and 1 touchdown. Defensively the Crusaders were led by senior defensive tackle Elijah Taylor who accounted for 10 tackles in the and senior linebacker Ryan Stofko, who had 8 tackles and 1 tackle for loss. The Lancers running game came out on fire, especially junior running back Jeffery Larkin and sophomore running back Jarell White who accounted for all 5, Lancer touchdowns. The Lancers got on the board less then 4 minutes into the game on a 5 yard pass from junior quarteback Nick Watson to White to make it 7-0. The Lancers added on their lead on a 13 and 5 yard run from Larkin to extend the lead to 20-0 in the first quarter. The Crusaders lone touchdown came on a 9 yard pass from Matt Crable to Kyle Butz early in the second quarter to close the gap to However the biggest play of the game occured in the closing seconds of the first half as Larkin took in to the end zone from 75 yards out to extend Cincinnati La Salle s lead to 27-6 at the half.
