2 U14 Girls Nationals A big congratulations goes to our Under 14 Girls Waves who competed in the Australian Under 14 Club Championships in Darwin. The girls finished the tournament in 8th place for the classification shield. It has been quite a few years since Gold Coast have qualified for the Under 14 Championships so this is a fantastic achievement. Things are really heating up as teams jostle for the playoff positions and a chance at the $13,000 in prize money. The competitiveness of ISL has been evident this season with every team now having won at least 1 game and only 1 of the 17 teams are currently undefeated (Dickfos Dunn 5-0). This week there are numerous games they could either propel teams into the playoffs or completely eliminate them, so expect some truly intense games on the court. 7 MEN S LEAGUE Round 7 Game Previews 11.00am (TSS Court 1) Bowler Bar Battlers (5-1) v Dickfos Dunn Eagles (5-0) Preview: Top of the ladder clash in what many are calling the Grand Final Preview. The Eagles have leaned heavily on Legan in their wins but may be found wanting without big man Kopitke to help inside. The Battlers have a BIG line-up and if the Eagles can pull of the win and remain undefeated this week it is hard to see anyone beating them. Prediction: Bowler Bar by 9. Key Factor: Can Jimmy Todd stop all 3 Battler big men??? Match-up to watch: Smith v Legan Odds: Bowler Bar $1.65 v Dickfos Dunn $ pm (TSS Court 1) Hot Tomato (1-5) v Scouts Queensland Shooters (3-2) Preview: Two different directions and there is no reason to see why it will change this week away from it being ISL and stranger things have happened. Both teams enter this knowing it is a MUST win. It is rumored that Daniel Simanic may be back early this week and that is a massive positive for the Postels, but will it matter if the real Urban Burger team show up to play? They have had some good patches but have been one of the more disappointing on court teams this season. Prediction: First national (in an upset) by 2. Match-up to watch: Thalo v Williamson Odds: Brumby s $1.40 v First national Springfield $2.85 WOMEN S LEAGUE Round 5 Game Previews 11.00am (TSS Court 1) Breastlogic (1-4) v Harvey World Travel Tweed Heads (4-1) Preview: Breastlogic would have been feeling good after their first win last week, but that streak may be put on hold as they face the strong 2011 favorites coming off a 20 point thumping of Sharkey s in which three players scored 20+ points. One can only think that this could be over early. Prediction: Harvey World Travel by 25. Key Factors: Can Breastlogic shoot well enough to keep this game competitive? Match-up to watch: Miles v Reimink Odds: Breastlogic $7.00 v Harvey World Travel $ pm (TSS Court 2) Celtics Basketball Club (4-1) v Beyond Building Energy Rollers (1-4) Preview: While both teams seasons have taken different paths, if we wind back to round 1 these teams played out a thriller which ended with a basket being waved away and the Celtics holding on for a tough win. Celtics have since begun to gel a lot better on the court and have to enter as the clear favorites.
