It starts the day after Thanksgiving with ARIZONA STATE at ARIZONA (FSN) for their annual desert skirmish. The following day, Sat., Nov. 30, USC and Notre Dame (ABC) hook up in Los Angeles for that most classic of all intersectionals. And the regular season comes to a close in dramatic fashion at the Rose Bowl on Sat., Dec. 7, as WASHINGTON STATE pays a visit to UCLA with a berth in the Rose Bowl Game Jan. 1 on the line (ABC). Here's a look at remainder of the regular season (Note: Ranking is the AP [media] poll first, followed by the ESPN/USA Today [coaches] poll): Ranking Game - Fri., Nov. 29 Site Time/TV Series/Last Year --/-- ARIZONA STATE (7-5) Arizona Stadium (56,002) 1:00 MST Arizona leads /-- ARIZONA (4-7) Tucson, AZ FSN Arizona Ranking Game - Sat., Nov. 30 Site Time/TV Series/Last Year 7/7 Notre Dame (10-1) L.A. REMAINING PAC-10 Date/ TELEVISION COVERAGE: Time Game TV Fri., Nov :00 PST/1:00 MST Arizona State at Arizona Fox Sports Net (national) Sat., Nov. 30 5:00 PST/6:00 MST Notre Dame at USC ABC (national) Sat., Dec. 7 1:30 PST/2:30 MST Washington State at UCLA ABC (national) THE RACE: The Pac-10 representative to the Rose Bowl will not be determined until Sat., Dec. 7, when Washington State heads to Pasadena to play UCLA in a game the Cougars hope will be a dress rehearsal for Jan. 1. A win for Washington State would give the Cougs a tie and Pac-10 cochampionship with USC, with WSU getting the Rose Bowl berth by virtue of an overtime win against the Trojans earlier this year. USC will be in the unfamiliar position of rooting for UCLA, as a Washington State loss to the Bruins would give the Trojans the Pac-10 title outright and a berth in the Rose Bowl. The Wildcat defense posted seven QB sacks, with ILB Lance Briggs leading the way with three. NOTRE DAME (10-1) at USC (9-2) - Sat., Nov. 30, 5:00 PST - ABC national telecast - The Series: The most storied intersectional rivalry of them all dates back to the days of Knute Rockne and Howard Jones. USC and Notre Dame have met 73 times dating to 1926 and uninterrupted except for the war years of The Fighting Irish lead the series and, in what has often been a series of streaks, have won the last three. USC has taken two of the last three at the L.A. Coliseum.... Last Year: Notre Dame and USC met at South Bend and the Irish, trailing at halftime, took over in the second half and posted a win. The Notre Dame defense limited USC to just 12 first downs, 60 yards rushing and 290 yards total offense and three fourth-quarter Trojan turnovers doomed any chance of a comeback. QB Carson Palmer passed for both of USC's touchdowns, but was picked off twice in the fourth quarter. Notre Dame relied on its ground game on offense in rushing for 208 yards. WASHINGTON STATE (9-2) at UCLA (7-4) - Sat., Dec. 7, 1:30 PST - ABC national telecast - The Series: UCLA and Washington State have met 48 times dating to 1928 with the Bruins leading the series The series has been very close of late as the Cougars have won four of the last six and the teams have split the last 12. The game turned into a mighty defensive struggle with the Cougars prevailing The two teams combined for just 25 first downs and 501 yards total offense and managed just one offensive touchdown each. WSU CB Lamont Thompson intercepted a Pac-10-record four passes, including three in the fourth quarter to shut the door on any UCLA comeback hopes. The Cougar defense contributed what proved to be the winning score when DE Fred Shavies forced a fumble that LB Al Genatone returned 73 yards for a TD. The UCLA defense had its moments, as well, intercepting three passes themselves, including one returned for a score by S Ben Emanuel. Both McDonald and Arizona's Bobby Wade have 1,280 yards receiving this year, which ties them for fifth on the Pac-10 single-season receiving yards list.... With a league-leading 26.5 tackles for loss, DE Terrell Suggs needs two more to surpass the Pac-10 season record of 28 (Ron George, Stanford, 1990). UCLA: True freshmen Drew Olson and Matt Moore continue to handle the bulk of UCLA's quarterbacking chores. In the last four games, the pair has only been picked off one time in 94 pass attempts.... P/PK Nate Fikse has made 10 consecutive field goals while still maintaining a splendid 41.3-yard average on punts.
