5 2013 SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP BASKETBALL CLINICS The Clinic of High School Champions: Speakers Steve Smith Oak Hill Academy (VA) That s Steve Smith s record in 27 seasons as head coach at Oak Hill Academy. He has been named National Coach of the Year by USA Today in 1994, 1999, 2004 and His teams have claimed eight mythical national championships and they have been runner-up six times. In 2009 and 2012, he was honored as the Naismith High School Coach of the Year. Gary McKnight Mater Dei H.S. (CA) Gary is the winningest coach in California H.S. basketball history (92%). In thirty years at Mater Dei, his teams have won 9 State Championships, 13 Southern California Regional Championships, 21 CIF Championships and 29 League Championships. He has had more then 145 players go on to play NCAA division one basketball and has had 6 players go on to play in the NBA. A record over a 10 year coaching career. He has won four straight AAAA Georgia State titles (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012). He has been named GACA, AAAA and Atlanta Constitution Coach of the Year in 2010, 2011, and Sharman White Miller Grove H.S. (GA) Sue Phillips Archbishop Mitty H.S. (CA) Frank Allocco DeLasalle H.S. (CA) In her 19 year career at Archbishop Mitty H.S., Coach Phillips has an outstanding record of while playing the toughest schedule in California. Her teams have won five state titles, nine Northern California Championships and 17 League and Central Coast Sectional Championships. The former New Jersey native has amassed an outstanding 21 year career record of , at Northgate H.S. (CA) and at DeLasalle H.S. (CA). He has been named Coach of the Year seventeen times and has the great distinction of being the only coach in California high school basketball history to win a state championship at a public H.S. and a private H.S. Steve Bennett New Castle H.S. (IN) Steve has the best overall winning percentage of any coach in Indiana who has coached at least 10 years in 15 years. At New Castle his team has won 14 Championships, including A State Championship. His record at New Castle is an impressive New Castle is the home of the largest H.S. gym in the world, seating 9,325. Pat Coons Westview H.S. (OR) Coach Coons has been the head coach at Westview H.S. for 19 years. His teams were state runner-ups in 2010 and In 2010 he was named Oregon Coach of the Year. Mary Klinger Rutgers Prep (NJ) Mary has won 10 NJISAA State Championships and the last six in a row at Rutgers Prep. Jerry Faulkner Charlotte Latin H.S. (NC) Retired This former Clemson assistant (four years) is the second winningest coach in North Carolina H.S. Basketball history His teams won nine state titles and in 31 years as a head coach he had only one losing season. Dave Weber Glenbrook H.S. (IL) In 17 years at Glenbrook North High School, Coach Weber has a record of His 2005 team won the Illinois State Championship and his 2003 team placed 3 rd. He also has won 11 straight Conference Championships. Before Glenbrook North, Dave was an assistant at Eastern Illinois, Texas San Antonio, UC Santa Barbara, and Arizona State. After 36 years of coaching at Central Elkader (eight years) and Mid-Prarie (28 years), Don has complied a record of and has taken six teams to the state tournament.
