Over the two year stretch, the Panthers are 326 in Sun Belt Conference regular season games, going 171 two years ago and 155 last season. HOME SWEET HOME When coach Ron Hunter took over the Panthers, one of the first things he proclaimed was that the GSU Sports Arena would become one of the toughest places in the country. So far, he has been correct. The Panthers are 4911 in the comfy confines of the Sports Arena since his arrival. The Panthers have gone 271 at home since the start of the season, with the only loss coming in double overtime. During that span, Georgia State has put together an 18game winning streak which ranks secondlongest in school history and currently rides an ninegame home court winning streak, fourthlongest in school history. Here are the longest home court winning streaks in school history: to *3rdlongest streak in nation at time to 1514 (130 during season) to (first 10 games of the regular season) to present (last seven of season, first of ) to (last eight games of regular season) ON TO THE PROS Georgia State lost three players to graduation last year and another to the NBA Draft. Three of the four individuals that left are now playing professionally. R.J. Hunter was selected with the 28th pick in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, while Ryan Harrow is playing overseas in Greece. Curtis Washington already played professionally in Hong Kong before going to Argentina in the fall. He is now with the NBDL Maine Red Claws which are affiliated with the Boston Celtics. Although not playing professionally, Ryann Green is doing just fine as he stayed at Georgia State to earn his Masters. THE SERIES WITH IUPUI Georgia State and IUPUI will meet in the second game of a home and home series. 3 Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 3) the listing was Georgia State s matchup at Ole Miss which aired on the SEC Network. Upcoming matchups with UAB and Southern Miss are scheduled for the American Sports Network. Last year, the Panthers appeared on ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, TBS, TNT and the American Sports Network. 20 IS A MAGIC NUMBER Redshirtjunior Jeremy Hollowell is currently averaging 20.0 points per game. Only six times in program history has a Panther averaged 20 or more points a game for the season. The last time it happened was when Thomas Terrell averaged 20.5 point per game during the season. The record is held by Ron Ricketts who averaged 21.1 points per game during the season. Last season, both Ryan Harrow and R.J. Hunter flirted with the 20 points per game average before dipping below in the final weeks of the season. A SPECIAL PAIR Seniors Markus Crider and T.J. Shipes have their chance to put themselves in elite company before the end of the year. Crider has played in 102 career games and can set the Georgia State games played record before the end of the season, while Shipes is at 85 and could move into the top 10. The pair have also be a part of 67 wins and with 21 more wins this season, can be a part of the best fouryear stretch in program history. Games Played: Player... Years... Games 1. CLOSING IN ON A LEGEND Head coach Ron Hunter owns the records for the most wins in his first season, first two seasons, first three seasons and first four seasons of any coach in GSU program history. Legendary coach Charles Lefty Driesell won 79 games in his first four seaons at Georgia State, only to be surpassed by Hunter who won 87 games in his first four years. With Georgia State s two wins this season, Hunter is now at 89. Driesell won 103 games in fiveplus seasons before retiring midseason. The school record is 107 wins by Bob Reinhart.

4 Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 4) GOING BAREFOOT Coach Ron Hunter will once again coach a game barefoot in support of Samaritan s Feet during the upcoming season. He currently plans to go barefoot on Jan. 16 against UL Monroe. Hunter always tries to schedule the game as close to the Martin Luther King Jr. observance day. The Panthers are 40 when Hunter has gone without socks and shoes to raise awareness for the 300 million children around the world without shoes. This year will mark the ninth straight year Hunter has gone barefoot for a game. As part of his work with Samaritan s Feet, Georgia State travelled to Costa Rica in August 2014, doing a pair of shoe distributions during its eightday road trip. 618 AND COUNTING Georgia State has made at least one 3point field goal in 618 straight games, dating back to the season. The last team to hold the Panthers without a trey was Stetson on Feb. 18, NEXT UP Georgia State will return to the road to face UAB on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. in a game that will air live on the American Sports Network. It will be a matchup of No. 14 seeds from last year s NCAA tournament, both of which upset No. 3 seeds in the second round.

5 Georgia State Men s Basketball Notes (page 5) HEAD COACH RON HUNTER In four seasons, Ron Hunter has changed the national perception of Georgia State; winning 87 games and advancing to the postseason three teams. It was highlighed last year by winning 25 games for a second year in a row and advancing to the third round of the NCAA tournament following the shocking upset of No. 3seed Baylor. The 87 wins are the most in any fouryear stretch in program history. Georgia State has entered elite status by winning 25 or more games in each of the last two years, an accomplishment only reached by 20 programs in the entire country. Hunter is now responsible for three of the four winningest seasons in program history and half of the school s postseason appearances. After winning the Sun Belt regular season title for the second straight season in , the Panthers claimed the tournament title, just the third for the program to advance to the NCAA tournament. In the postgame celebration, Hunter tore his Achillies, a clip that went viral across the nation. Coaching in the NCAA tournament from a stool, the Panthers trailed by 12 with 2:53 to play, before mounting a furious 130 run, capped by a 30foot 3pointer from son R.J. that sent Hunter off his stool and became one of the most watched clips of the tournament and a part of One Shining Moment. Although successful in his first two seasons at the helm, the Panthers started to pile up the wins during the season. Winning 25 games, second most in school history, Georgia State earned a Sun Belt regular season championship and an appearance in the Postseason NIT. During the season, the Panthers won a schoolrecord 14straight games, including a stretch of 22 of 23, as Hunter was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year and NABC Region 24 Coach of the Year. During his first season (201112), Georgia State won 22 games, the third most in school history, advancing to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Hunter has won 361 games in 21 seasons, but the accomplishments made by the team will always be special for him. After being named head coach on March 21, 2011, he built a squad that finished in the top 20 in the nation in scoring defense, defensive shooting percentage, steals and blocked shots, as six seniors finished their careers triumpently. Following the recordsetting season, Hunter was named Atlanta Tipoff Club Georgia Coach of the Year, while his players earned a recordnumber of conference and national awards. National notoriety is nothing new for Hunter. While at IUPUI, he was lauded for his humanitarian efforts, partnering with Samaritan s Feet, an organization that collects shoes for underprivileged children around the world. He continued that work in Atlanta, coaching the Panthers while barefoot to victory over UNCW in front of the largest crowd in the Sports Arena since While leading IUPUI to 25 or more wins in two of his final four seasons, Hunter began to partner with Samaritan s Feet, an organization that collects shoes for underprivileged children around the world. On Jan. 24, 2008, he coached IUPUI against Oakland in his bare feet to help raise awareness for the cause. By tipoff, Hunter s efforts had raised more than 100,000 pairs of shoes, and to date, that number has climbed well above 250,000. During his first season at Georgia State, Hunter led the Panthers to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, just the fourth time GSU earned a postseason bid. The Panthers opened the tournament at home, another first, hosting a postseason contest and earning an impressive 7443 victory against Tennessee Tech. Earlier in the year, Hunter s squad won 11 straight games, earning impressive victories over CAA preseason favorite Drexel and at VCU. The streak included wins of 32, 32 and 31 points. Hunter, 51, earned his bachelor s degree in education at Miami in 1986 and added a master s in He was a standout player on strong Miami teams of the mid1980s, along with high school and college teammate Ron Harper, who went on to a long NBA career. The Redhawks were during Hunter s fouryear career and earned three consecutive NCAA Tournament berths while winning two MAC championships. Hunter and his wife, Amy, have two children, Jasmine (25) and R.J. (22), a first year player for the Boston Celtics.
