THE GREAT FALLS GAME: The defense for Seattle University buckled down in the second half, and the Redhawks cut down on their mistakes after halftime as they defeated the Argonauts of the University of Great Falls, 58-48, last Wednesday night in a non-conference men s collegiate basketball game at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash. Ahead by one point five minutes into the game, Seattle U scored nine unanswered points, starting with a three-pointer from Manroop Clair and including four points from Aaron Menzies, to extend its lead to Great Falls answered right back, scoring nine straight points over the next four minutes, featuring two jumpers by Issac Howard, to close its deficit back to one at The teams would trade baskets for the next several minutes, with a tip-in by Jack Crook giving Seattle U a advantage with 4:29 remaining in the first half. The Argonauts would hold the Redhawks scoreless for the rest of the half, with baskets by Daniel Arcau and Lamar Falley giving the visitors a lead at halftime. Seattle U scored the first five points of the second half, retaking the lead on a layup by Crook. Howard hit a three-pointer with 13:11 left in the second half to bring the Argonauts to within three at 39-36, but the Redhawks went on a 12-0 scoring run over the next five minutes to open a double-digit lead, where it would remain for the rest of the game. Crook once again led the Redhawks with 16 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots, while William Powell contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Jadon Cohee finished with nine points and six rebounds, and Menzies contributed nine points and five rebounds to the winning effort. NCAA STATISTICAL RANKINGS: After the games of Nov. 29, Seattle U is eighth in the country in fewest personal fouls per game (15.4) and 33rd in scoring defense (62.2 ppg). Individually, Jack Crook is 52nd in the country in field goal percentage (.600).

2 SCOUTING CALIFORNIA: The Golden Bears enter Tuesday s game with a 4-2 overall record. Cal won its first four games at home before losing to San Diego State (72-58) and to Richmond (94-90) at the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational last weekend at the Orleans Arena. The Bears are scoring 81.5 points per game and allowing 70.5 points per contest. As a team, California is shooting 48.0 percent from the field, including 30.4 percent from behind the three-point line, and 70.5 percent from the free throw line. Second-year head coach Cuonzo Martin has used the same starting lineup in all six games. Tyrone Wallace leads the Bears with 18.7 points and 4.5 assists per game as he is shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 71.0 percent from the free throw line. Jaylen Brown is averaging 16.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while Ivan Rabb, currently shooting 64.4 percent from the field and 77.8 percent from the free throw line, is contributing 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.2 blocked shots per game. Jordan Mathews is averaging 11.3 points per game, and Jabari Bird is averaging 8.8 points per contest. SERIES HISTORY: This will be the eighth meeting all-time between Seattle U and California, with the Bears holding a 5-2 series advantage. The most famous meeting was probably the first one, on March 15, 1958, in the West Regional final at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Charlie Brown sent the game into overtime with a 25- foot jumper with 10 seconds remaining in regulation, and then he scored the go-ahead basket with 10 seconds left in overtime as Seattle U defeated Cal, 66-62, to advance to the Final Four. Elgin Baylor led Seattle U with 26 points. The next meeting took place at the Far West Classic in Portland, Ore., on Dec. 27, 1962, with Cal winning in overtime, The teams played four times over a six-season span from 1973 through 1978, with Cal winning the first three games before Seattle U earned an victory at the Seattle Center Coliseum on Dec. 9, These teams last met on Dec. 21, 1984, with Cal defeating Seattle U, then an NAIA program, SENIOR LEADERSHIP: Jack Crook, the lone senior on the active roster for Seattle University this season, has emerged as one of the team s leaders both on and off the court this season. Crook has reached double figures in scoring in all five games so far this season, leading the Redhawks with 17 points against Eastern Washington on Nov. 23 and 16 points against Great Falls two nights later. Crook notched the fifth double-double of his collegiate career on Nov. 15 against Sacramento State with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Last season, Crook was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court as well as Academic All-WAC for his academic work as a strategic communications major. WAC PRESEASON HONOR: William Powell was voted Second Team All-WAC by the conference coaches in the preseason poll taken in October. Powell is Seattle U s leading returning scorer and rebounder after averaging 7.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, shooting 51.3 percent from the field in the process. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Two newcomers to the Seattle University men s basketball program have already made a significant impact this season. Brendan Westendorf, a junior college transfer from Kent, Washington, has shown the ability to contribute to the Redhawks in different ways, averaging 12.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. He leads Seattle U with nine made threepointers so far this season and is shooting 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the free throw line. Westendorf notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against Sacramento State Nov. 15, followed by a 20-point performance at Eastern Washington Nov. 18. After sitting out the first two games of the season, freshman Malik Montoya from Federal Way, Wash., has been a valuable asset off the bench for the Redhawks. At Eastern Washington on Nov. 18, he hit three three-pointers to help the Redhawks cut into their deficit. In the rematch with the Eagles Nov. 23, Montoya earned two key steals and ensuing layups as Seattle U defeated Eastern Washington, UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Seattle U returns to KeyArena this weekend for two games with significant promotions around both contests. Friday, Dec. 4, is Canadian Heritage Night, as Seattle U s Canadian student-athletes, including Manroop Clair and Jadon Cohee, will be recognized. Sunday, Dec. 6, is 12s Night at the Key, as anyone wearing gear from the Seattle NFL organization will receive free tickets for themselves and a guest. SUNDERHAUS OUT: Deshaun Sunderhaus first injured his knee on Jan. 25, 2014, during Seattle U s game at Grand Canyon. He went through rehabilitation and returned to action last season, appearing in eight games, featuring a performance at San Jose State in which he made every shot he attempted, collecting 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. However, in the very next game on Dec. 15, 2014, against Northwest University, Sunderhaus reinjured the knee, once again prematurely ending his season. He fought through the pain of more rehabilitation and attempted another comeback. Unfortunately, Sunderhaus suffered another setback during preseason practice and decided that enough was enough. He underwent surgery to repair the damage on Friday, Nov. 6, but he has decided to no longer play competitive basketball. In 56 games with the Redhawks, including 34 starts, Sunderhaus averaged 9.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, as he shot 51.8 percent from the field.

4 HEAD COACH CAMERON DOLLAR (UCLA 97) SEVENTH SEASON AT SEATTLE U/EIGHTH SEASON OVERALL (.431) AT SEATTLE U/ (.416) OVERALL Cameron Dollar is in his seventh season as head coach at Seattle University. Dollar led Seattle University to its first national Division I postseason tournament since the season when the Redhawks accepted an invitation to play in the College Basketball Invitational. Seattle U reached the semifinals of the CBI with home victories over Pepperdine and Colorado, the program s first victories in a national Division I postseason tournament since The team finished with an overall record and advanced to the championship game of the WAC Tournament. Isiah Umipig and Jarell Flora received All-WAC honors. In , Dollar s Redhawks posted a five-game improvement from the previous season and contended with eventual WAC Tournament champion New Mexico State right down to the final buzzer in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. Thanks to a season sweep over Cal State Fullerton as well as victories over UC Davis, Cal State Northridge, and Norfolk State, Seattle U jumped out to an 8-3 record, led by Second Team All-WAC performer Isiah Umipig. Though Dollar led the team through a tough first season in the WAC during the season, several key returning players showed improvement under his coaching. Dollar took a squad of several newcomers through the season, competing with powerhouse programs such as Virginia and Washington. The team got rolling midway through the season, winning nine of its last 12 contests, including eight in a row at KeyArena. Thanks in part to Dollar s coaching, Aaron Broussard established himself as one of the best players in program history, finishing his career 13th on the school s all-time scoring list. Seattle U picked up 11 victories during the season, including the team s second straight victory over Oregon State and a road victory at ACC school Virginia. The Redhawks also played a tight game at Pac-10 school Stanford and put up its best performance against Washington since starting the reclassification process in front of over 11,000 fans at KeyArena. Using an up-tempo style with aggressive defense, Dollar led Seattle U to a record in , making the Redhawks the first team to post a winning record playing a full Division I schedule in its first year as a Division I counter. The team started to gain national recognition after a victory at Utah, and then made history later in the year with a win at Oregon State, the worst home loss ever for the Beavers. Dollar and his squad also defended Elgin Baylor Court at KeyArena during its first year of existance, finishing with a 10-3 record at home, including exciting victories over Fresno State, Weber State, and UC Irvine. He served seven years as an asssistant coach at the University of Washington before coming to Seattle U. As the top assistant for Lorenzo Romar at Washington, he helped the Huskies win their first Pac-10 outright regular season championship since 1953 in the season. Washington advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-10 Tournament and to the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. In 2006, Dollar helped guide Washington to a 26-7 record. The Huskies made back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances for the first time ever. He was pivotal in the Huskies run to their first Pac-10 Tournament championship in 2005 and first ever No. 1 seed into the NCAA Tournament. UW finished with a 29-6 record, tying the school record for wins in a season. In 2004, the Huskies advanced to the championship game of the Pac-10 Tournament and competed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since Prior to his arrival at UW, Dollar served three years as an assistant coach on Romar s Saint Louis University staff. He helped the Billikens to a three-year record of (.537), including a 2000 Conference USA Tournament championship that secured the league s automatic NCAA berth. Dollar began his coaching career as an assistant on the staff of head coach Pat Douglass at UC Irvine in He became the nation s youngest head coach in 1998 when, at age 22, he took the reins of the Southern California College program in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Vanguards, who returned just six players from the previous season, posted an record in Dollar s only season, but recorded wins over NAIA Top 25 teams Westmont and Azusa Pacific. After a three-month stay as a part-time assistant at the University of Georgia in 1999, Dollar left to join the Saint Louis coaching staff on a full-time basis. As a player, Dollar lettered four seasons at UCLA before graduating in He has chosen to remain in Seattle, the site of the Bruins 1995 NCAA Championship victory. UCLA defeated Arkansas at the Kingdome. A four-year letterman at UCLA from , Dollar achieved national recognition in 1995 as a pivotal player in UCLA s NCAA championship season when he took over for injured starter Tyus Edney in the title game. In Dollar s final three collegiate seasons, the Bruins won the NCAA title and reached the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Dollar averaged 5.0 points and 3.7 assists per game during his four-year career. Cameron and his wife, Maureen, live in Seattle. They have three children: Jalen (born April 26, 2005), Giselle (born Feb. 12, 2007), and Jason (born Dec. 23, 2008).
