The game at the Breslin Center is set for a 7 p.m. tip. Detroit (4-5) has had an eight-day break competitively from the court, last playing on Dec. 12, when Detroit gave Western Michigan everything it had, but falling in the final minutes, 70-66, in Kalamazoo. The Spartans (8-2) are currently ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press poll with a new poll coming out Monday morning. It ll be the third Big Ten team that Detroit meets this season. 2 Week 7 - Game Notes Great, Scott! The Titans enter the under a new head coach in Bernard Scott, who previously was an assistant coach at Cleveland State. A 15-year coaching veteran, Scott is the 11th coach in Detroit women s basketball history. It s his first collegiate head coaching job. Scott made his head coaching debut in Detroit s season opener vs. Bradley and earned his first win in an triumph over Niagara on Nov. 29, Scott s staff at Detroit for are assistant coaches Tara Fleming and Molly Bateman. Ke Sha Blanton returns for her fourth season as an assistant coach, while AJ Burton and Shareese McBrayer are back for their second seasons as graduate assistant coaches. Detroit s Win Streak Snapped at Western Michigan Rosanna Reynolds notched her third double-double of the year and was one of four Titans in double figures, but Detroit fell in the final minutes of the game at Western Michigan, 70-66, on Dec. 12. Reynolds had 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Brianne Cohen added 16 points and seven boards off the bench for Detroit. The Titans had a halftime lead on the strength of a 20-4 run in the middle of the second quarter. The Titans made 5-of-10 triples in the first half and forced nine WMU turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. Detroit continued its strong play and led after three quarters, WMU cut the Detroit lead to three points, 60-57, with 4:51 left. Several questionable calls went against the Titans in the final minutes of the contest, including a pair of charge calls. Still, Detroit and WMU were tied with 1:30 remaining. Jackson forced a steal with under one minute to go and Detroit down three points, 67-64, but Jackson missed a 3-pointer on the other end and WMU made all four free throws in the final minute to clinch the victory. Brittney Jackson scored eight of her career-high 11 points in the opening 20 minutes for the Titans. Jackson finished 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Nicole Urbanick sank two 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Detroit. The Titans shot 37.9 percent for the game and sank 10-of-13 from the free throw line. Unbeaten Streak Detroit had its longest unbeaten streak since during its most recent homestand when the Titans finished 4-0 for a four-game win streak. The Titans earned home victories over Niagara, Cincinnati, Salem International and IPFW for its four victories and averaged 75.5 points per game in the win stretch. Rosie Nears 1,000 Redshirt-junior guard Rosanna Reynolds is quickly nearing the 1,000-point plateau. 3 800-point plateau mark during the Titans game against No. 8-ranked Maryland and reached the 900-point mark early in the game agaisnt Western Michigan. She would become the 20th player in Detroit women s basketball history to surpass the 1,000-point mark and first since Senee Shearer during the season. Reynolds has led the Titans in scoring in six of nine games this year and leads the team with a 16.8 points per game average. Reynolds is also just one 3-pointer away from 100 for her career. She ranks 12th all-time with 99 made triples. Trio of Sisters Play in Michigan Game All three Ristovski sisters went head-to-head in Detroit s second game when the Titans host Michigan. Detroit sisters and teammates -- junior Haleigh Ristovski and freshman Lola Ristovski -- played against older sister and U-M senior Madison Ristovski. It was the first time all three had played together in a collegiate game. Haleigh and Madison had played each other the past two seasons with Madison s Wolverines winning both contests. All three sisters starred at nearby University Liggett High School and during Madison s senior year, the trio all started together. Lola Ristovski, in just her second collegiate game, outscored both of her sisters with nine points. Madison tallied seven points for the Wolverines and Haleigh tallied five points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Titans. All-Time Series Detroit and Michigan State have met 26 times previously, with the Spartans holding a 19-7 series advantage. Detroit won six of the first 10 in the series, which began in The Titans last victory over MSU came in 1994, when Detroit earned a win on Dec. 20. UDM has one victory in East Lansing, which came in the very first game played in the series, a Detroit win on Feb. 6, Scouting Michigan State The Spartans (8-2) are on a four-game win streak entering Monday night s game with the Titans. MSU is averaging 77.0 points in its last four games. Michigan State s lone two losses this year came against Baylor and Louisville. The Spartans are 4-1 at the Breslin Center this year. Aerial Powers leads the Spartans with a 17.9 points per game average. She also leads the squad in rebounding at 7.4 boards per game. Tori Jankoska is second on the team in scoring at 16.9 points per game. She has connected on 26 triples and is shooting 89.7 from the free throw line. Branndais Agee is the third member of the team who averages in double figures (11.6 ppg), while Morgan Green leads MSU in assists with 41 in 10 games. Horizon League Leaders Reynolds ranks third in the Horizon League in scoring (16.9 points per game) and assists (4.4 per game), while Haleigh Ristovski is third in the conference in rebounding (8.9 boards per game). Nicole Urbanick ranks ninth in the league in scoring (14.1 points per game), giving Detroit two players in the top 10 in scoring. Sophomore forward Brianne Cohen is fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (53.6 on 37-of-69 shooting). Reynolds ranks second in the HL in free throw percentage (86.5 on 32-of-37 free throws). Haleigh Ristovski, who led the Horizon League in assist-toturnover last year, again leads the league this year with a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio so far this year. She has 29 assists to 12 turnovers. Reynolds is fifth in assist-toturnover ratio (2.0). Haleigh Ristovski is also second in the HL in defensive rebounds (8.2 per game) and minutes played (36.9 per game). UIC s Ruvanna Campbell leads the conference in both of those categories. Taking Care of the Ball Detroit is first in the Horizon League in fewest turnovers per game this season. The Titans have been ranked among the league leaders all season and currently averages just 14.0 turnovers per game, better than second-place Northern Kentucky (14.5 turnovers per game). The Titans have had three games this year of 10 turnovers or fewer. Detroit turned the ball over just six times at St. Bonaventure and followed it up with just nine turnovers against Niagara in the team s first win of the year. UDM also had 10 turnovers in its most recent game against Western Michigan, including just five in the first three quarters. Reynolds Selected Preseason First Team All-League Junior guard Rosanna Reynolds was picked to the Preseason All-Horizon League First Team and was one of three juniors named to the First Team. Reynolds, who was a Second Team All-Horizon League honoree last year as a sophomore, led the Titans with 15.7 points and 3.4 assists per game last year. She was second in the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and fourth in three-pointers per game (2.0) and three-point percentage (37.8). Titans Picked to Finish Seventh Detroit was picked to finish seventh as the Horizon League preseason poll was released by the league office on Nov. 4. In the preseason poll, Detroit earned 157 points overall and finished just five votes out of fifth place. Fifth-place Oakland (162 points) and Cleveland State (161 points) was in front of the Titans. Reigning league champion Green Bay was picked to finish first in the conference and received 25 of the 31 firstplace votes. Three s Company The Titans had four players reach 40 or more 3-pointers made during the season. Three of those players are back this year -- Reynolds (59 triples), Ristovski (51) and Urbanick (40). The trio combined for 150 of the 221 triples Detroit made a season ago. Urbanick (21), Ristovski (15) and Reynolds (13) have already combined for 49 three-pointers through nine games this season. Reynolds moved into 12th all-time in triples against Niagara and has 99 makes from downtown in her Titan career. Ristovski is 16th all-time with 87 triples, while Urbanick is quickly approaching the top 20 in career 3-pointers with 61 triples in 36 games. As a team, Detroit ranks sixth in the conference in 3-pointers made per game (7.8). Youngstown State (8.8) and Green Bay (8.8) rank first in the league in the category. The Titans have made 70 triples this season. Block Party The Titans have the highest single-game block total this season. Detroit had 12 rejections against IPFW. It s also believed to be the highest block total for a Titan women s basketball team in the past decade. Haleigh Ristovski had a career-best six blocks in that contest. Detroit ranks second in the Horizon League in blocked shots per game (4.8), trailing just UIC (5.3). Detroit has 43 blocks through nine games and is on pace to surpass last year s total with ease. The Titans had 82 blocks in 30 games for a 2.7 blocks per game average in Urbanick Scores 14 in Quarter on Way to 25 Nicole Urbanick has the highest points total for a Titan in a single quarter this season, scoring 14 points on her way to a career-best 24 points against Salem International. Urbanick scored her 24 points in just 20 minutes. She made four triples and shot 10-of-16 from the field in her career day. Urbanick s 24 points is the highest single-game total for a Detroit player this season. It was also Urbanick s first-career 20-point game. As a team, Detroit s best quarter this season came against Niagara, when Detroit scored 26 points in the third quarter of the game. Detroit has also scored its most points in the third quarter (167). Detroit s best quarter as far as point differential is the final quarter, where Detroit trails its opponents by just nine points ( ). My December The Titans are 3-1 in December, including three victories at home. Detroit won its first three contests in the month, beginning with a victory over Cincinnati. Detroit s only loss in the final month of 2015 came in a game that it led most of -- a loss at Western Michigan. Detroit has two games remaining in December -- on Dec. 21 against Michigan State and Dec. 30 at home vs. Eastern Michigan. Green Bay to Host HL Championships Green Bay is set to host the Horizon League Championships for the season. The reigning league champions will host all four rounds of the championships from March The Horizon League Championship game is set for March 13 on ESPNU. Up Next Detroit hosts Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Dec. 30 for a 7 p.m. tilt. It ll be the final non-conference matchup of the regular season for the Titans. Detroit opens the Horizon League schedule Saturday, Jan. 2, hosting Youngstown State at 12 p.m. in the first of a doubleheader with the men s basketball team at Calihan Hall.

7 Head Coach Bernard Scott Bernard Scott, a longtime Horizon League assistant was named the 11th head women s basketball coach in Titans history on Tuesday, May 5, announced University of Detroit Mercy Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. He most recently was the associate head coach at Cleveland State. Scott, a 15-year collegiate coaching veteran, has tutored eight players who have earned All-League honors, and three who were named to their respective Freshmen All-League Team. Scott was the assistant coach at Horizon League member Cleveland State over the last five years and was promoted to associate head coach prior to the campaign. During that time, he helped the program win 79 games, make two trips to the Horizon League Championship Semifinals and earned two postseason bids, reaching the quarterfinals of the Women s Basketball Invitational (WBI) in 2011 and the first round of the Women s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) in Last season, Cleveland State placed third in the Horizon League, two spots higher than the previous year, and had a overall record, five more wins than and CSU s first winning season in the past four years. Scott was involved in all facets of the Vikings program, including recruiting coordinator, on-floor coaching, individual workouts, recruiting and opponent scouting. He also worked daily with the development of CSU s post players. Under his coaching, the Viking post players recorded 81 double-doubles over the past four seasons, including a pair of triple-doubles. In his first year at CSU ( ), he was an integral part in the Vikings going 21-12, the second most wins in school history and only the second time CSU has ever won more than 20 games in a season. Cleveland State also finished with a 12-6 Horizon League record, which was tied for the most league wins in a season, as well as tying for second place in the regular season standings, the best finish in program history. The Vikings also advanced to the postseason earning the top seed in the West Region of the WBI. He joined Cleveland State after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at another Horizon League-rival in Youngstown State ( ), and has also served as an assistant coach at Arizona ( ), Dayton ( ) and Toledo ( ). Before his stop out west, Scott was as an assistant coach at Dayton for two years, coaching the Flyers to a record in , their first winning campaign in five years. While at Dayton, he helped secure the 29th-ranked recruiting class according to the Blue Star Recruiting Service, which included a two-time Ohio Player of the Year and a top-five player from Canada. He began his career at Toledo, assisting with recruiting, player development, scouting, camps and academics for four years. He was part of the coaching staff that led the Rockets to the 2003 regular season MAC title and a berth in the WNIT. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Scott earned a degree in Physical Education and Recreation from University of Toledo in 2001, and a master s degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Toledo in Scott is married to his wife, Colleen, and the couple has two daughters, Lily (8) and Chloe (3). Scott was the lead assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Penguins in his two years at YSU, where he worked daily with the development of the guards. His duties also included onfloor coaching, individual workouts, conditioning and opponent scouting. He also recruited and signed a Horizon League Player of the Year, Capital One First-Team Academic All-America and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America, as well as a top-100 junior college player.
