PITTSBURGH (1-0) Thursday, Aug. 16 Lambeau Field 7 p.m. CDT PACKERS FACE STEELERS AT LAMBEAU The Green Bay Packers will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in preseason game No. 2 on Thursday night at Lambeau Field. u It is the first preseason contest between the two teams at Lambeau Field since 1996, a Green Bay victory. u Including the regular season, it is the fourth meeting between the two teams since u Green Bay is in the preseason against Pittsburgh. u The Packers opened the preseason with a win over Tennessee last Thursday at Lambeau Field. It was fourth consecutive year Green Bay won the first preseason game it played. u Green Bay has scored 20-plus points in four of the last five preseason contests. u The Packers have won six consecutive preseason home games and eight of the last nine preseason games played at Lambeau Field. u Green Bay will take to the road for preseason game No. 3, traveling to California to face the Oakland Raiders on Friday, Aug. 24, at 9:30 p.m. CDT. MIDWEST SHRINE GAME One of the NFL s longest team traditions, the Upper Midwest Shrine Game kicks off its 69th installment Thursday night. It will be fourth time the Packers have faced the Steelers in the game (1953, 1958, 1996). u Green Bay is all-time in the Shrine Game. u Each season, the Packers donate a percentage of the gate to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Shriners facilities provide specialized medical services, helping children with birth defects and other injuries, at absolutely no cost. To date, the series has raised more than $4 million for the Midwest Shrine s burn centers and hospitals for crippled children. u The series has called three separate stadiums home: Milwaukee s State Fair Park ( ), Milwaukee County Stadium ( , ) and Lambeau Field (1983, 1995-present). u In his first season leading the Packers, Vince Lombardi made an agreement with George Halas to play in the Shrine Game annually. Green Bay and Chicago played each preseason at County Stadium from u The Packers annually designate the Shrine Game as the first Gold package game for season-ticket holders primarily from the Milwaukee area. 3 OFFSEASON CHANGES The Green Bay Packers saw some changes to the front office, the coaching staff and to the roster this offseason. uafter Ted Thompson made the transition to senior advisor to football operations, Brian Gutekunst was named general manager and Russ Ball was promoted to exective vice president/director of football operations. u Head Coach Mike McCarthy made numerous changes to his coaching staff, including bringing back Joe Philbin as offensive coordinator and adding Mike Pettine as defensive coordinator. From , Philbin was Green Bay s offensive coordinator, directing a unit that ranked No. 3 in the NFL over that span in points per game (28.3), touchdowns (267), passing touchdowns (170) and total net yards per game (372.8). In his five years as a defensive coordinator, (New York Jets, ; Buffalo Bills, 2013), Pettine led his units to a top-10 finish in total yards allowed and passing yards allowed in all five seasons. uother additions to the coaching staff were Jim Hostler as offense pass game coordinator, Patrick Graham as defense run game coordinator/inside linebackers, Frank Cignetti Jr. as quarterbacks coach, Ryan Downard as defensive quality control coach and Maurice Drayton as assistant special teams coach. umccarthy also promoted some coaches who were already on the staff, naming James Campen offense run game coordinator/ offensive line, Joe Whitt Jr. defense pass game coordinator, Jerry Montgomery defensive line coach, David Raih wide receivers coach and Jason Simmons secondary coach. ugreen Bay added players as well this offseason, including former Pro Bowlers TE Jimmy Graham, TE Marcedes Lewis, DL Muhammad Wilkerson and CB Tramon Williams. ugraham has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times in his career (2011, , ) and was named first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press in He is the only tight end in NFL history to have two seasons with 1,200-plus receiving yards and 10-plus receiving TDs (2011, 2013). ulewis, originally a first-round pick (No. 28 overall) by Jacksonville in 2006 out of UCLA, played in 170 games (No. 3 in franchise history) with 156 starts (No. 2 in franchise history) in 12 seasons with the Jaguars. uwilkerson, originally selected by the New York Jets in the first round (No. 30 overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Temple, played in 105 regular-season games with 101 starts in seven seasons with the Jets. He registered 10-plus sacks twice in his career, 10½ in 2013 and 12 in uwilliams returns to the Packers after spending the last three seasons with the Cleveland Browns ( ) and Arizona Cardinals (2017). He is tied for No. 5 among active NFL players with 32 career interceptions. MEET THE DRAFT PICKS Training-camp storylines always hover around new players and just how they figure into the depth chart. The Packers added to an already talented roster with a 11-man draft class. u CB Jaire Alexander was selected by the Packers with the 18th overall selection in the first round, a selection acquired from Seattle along with a seventh-round choice (No. 248 overall) in exchange for Green Bay s first-round pick (No. 27 overall, originally obtained from New Orleans), a third-round choice (No. 76 overall) and a sixth-round pick (No. 186 overall). Alexander earned second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference recognition as a sophomore in 2016 after posting a team-high five interceptions (tied for No. 11 in the country) along with a career-best 39 tackles (31 solo) and 14 passes defensed. 2 u The Packers selected CB Josh Jackson out of Iowa in the second round. He was named a permanent team captain on defense in 2017 and was a consensus first-team All-American as well as first-team All- Big Ten by the league s coaches and media after setting career highs in games started (13), tackles (48), solo tackles (34), passes defensed (26, No. 1 in the nation), interception return yards (168, No. 2 in the nation) and forced fumbles (one). Jackson s career-best eight interceptions led the nation and tied the single-season school record. u LB Oren Burks became the seventh player to be drafted out of Vanderbilt in team history when the Packers used a selection obtained from Carolina (third round, No. 88 overall) in exchange for a fourthround pick (No. 101) and a fifth-round pick (No. 147). He was named to the Butkus Award watch list in 2017 and went on to post career highs in tackles (82), solo tackles (45) and tackles for a loss (seven) in his first season at inside linebacker. u In the fourth round (No. 133 overall), the Packers selected WR J Mon Moore, making him the highest-drafted wide receiver out of Missouri since Jeremy Maclin in 2009 (Philadelphia Eagles, No. 19 overall). Moore was named second-team All-Southeastern Conference in 2016 (The Associated Press) and 2017 (AP and coaches). u With the first of three picks in the fifth round (No. 138 overall), Green Bay selected G Cole Madison, the highest-drafted lineman out of Washington State since T Scott Sanderson was selected in the third round by the Tennessee Oilers in Madison was a three-time All- Pacific-12 selection, earning second-team honors as a senior in 2017 and honorable mention as a junior and as a sophomore. u The Packers drafted P JK Scott out of Alabama with their second selection (No. 172 overall) in the fifth round, a compensatory pick awarded to the team. He was selected to an All-American team in three of his four seasons, earning first-team honors in 2014 and second-team honors in 16 and 17. u With the third of the fifth-round picks, which was also a compensatory selection, Green Bay drafted WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling out of the University of South Florida. In two seasons at USF, he scored five TDs of 50-plus yards (catches of 95 and 64 yards and 75-yard run in 2017, catches of 77 and 51 yards in 2016). u Green Bay drafted WR Equanimeous St. Brown with a compensatory pick in the sixth round (No. 207 overall), making him the second Notre Dame wide receiver to ever be drafted by the Packers (Derrick Mayes, second round, 1996). He was named Notre Dame s Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2016 after leading the Irish with 58 receptions for 961 yards (16.5 avg.) and nine TDs. u With the first of three seventh-round selections, the Packers took DL James Looney out of the University of California. He earned honorable mention All-Pacific-12 recognition in both of his final two seasons and was on the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as a senior in u With the No. 239 overall selection, Green Bay drafted LS Hunter Bradley out of Mississippi State, marking the fourth consecutive draft where a long snapper was selected (Colin Holba, sixth round, Pittsburgh, 2017 /Jimmy Landes, sixth round, Detroit, 2016 / Joe Cardona, fifth round, New England, 2015). u With its final selection of the 2018 NFL Draft, a pick obtained from Seattle along with a first-round pick (No. 18 overall) in exchange for Green Bay s first-round pick (No. 27, from New Orleans), a third-round pick (No. 76) and a sixth-round pick (No. 186), Green Bay chose LB Kendall Donnerson. He became the first player to be drafted out of Southeast Missouri since C Eugene Amano in 2004 (Tennessee, seventh round), and is the only player to be drafted by the Packers from the school.

4 PACKERS DEFEAT TITANS AT HOME The Green Bay Packers won their preseason opener, 31-17, over the Tennessee Titans in the Bishop s Charities Game last Thursday. u Green Bay has won five consecutive contests and nine of the last 10 games in the series. u Over the last four Bishop s Charities Games, the Packers have outscored their opponents, u After the Titans scored a touchdown on the games opening drive, QB Brett Hundley led the Packers on a seven-play, 75-yard drive that was highlighted by a 48-yard reception by WR Davante Adams to give Green Bay the ball at the Tennessee 3-yard line. After a penalty pushed the Packers back to the 8-yard line, Hundley found RB Jamaal Williams for an 8-yard TD. u Hundley played three drives, finishing 9 of 14 for 108 yards with a TD, an interception and a passer rating of u QB DeShone Kizer took over in the second quarter and led Green Bay 87 yards in 16 plays, but couldn't connect with WR Marquez Valdes- Scantling on a fourth down from the 4-yard line and turned it over on downs. Valdes-Scantling finished as the game s leading receiver with five receptions for 101 yards (20.2 avg.) and a TD. u With Kizer at the helm to start the third quarter and the Packers trailing 10-7, Green Bay drove 90 yards in 14 plays, taking up just under eight minutes, and RB Joel Bouagnon capped it off with a 1-yard TD run. Bouagnon finished the game as Green Bay's leading rusher, totaling 25 yards on 11 carries (2.3 avg.). u On his two drives, Kizer completed 9 of 18 passes for 134 yards and a passer rating of u QB Tim Boyle took over late in the third quarter and would play five drives, with four resulting in scores (three TDs and a field goal). A LOOK AT THE SCHEDULE The Green Bay Packers 98th NFL regular-season schedule highlighted by five prime-time contests (subject to flexible scheduling) was released April 19 by the National Football League. u For the second consecutive season, the Packers open the season at home and will play three of their first four games at Lambeau Field. u In Week 1, Green Bay will host Chicago on Sunday night, marking the 13th consecutive regular season that the Packers and Bears have squared off in primetime. u It is the first time Green Bay has opened the season at home against the Bears since playing them on Sunday night in Week 1 of the 2009 season, a win for the Packers. u For the first time since 2012, the Packers play two home games to open the season, hosting Minnesota in Week 2.
