2 District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties Week Eleven By Bill Engelhardt Class AAAA Playoffs As the 12th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I Mustangs of South Western (6-5 overall, 3-2 league) visited the 5th seeded Mustangs of Governor Mifflin (9-2 overall, 7-0 Berks Inter-Count 1 League) in the first round of the District 3 class AAAA Playoffs and were defeated The Mustangs of Governor Mifflin will play the Comets of Penn Manor (10-1 overall, 6-1 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1) at Millersville University next Friday at 7PM in the second round of the playoffs. The Governor Mifflin Mustangs gained 421-yards rushing and 33- yards passing for a total of 454-yards gained. Quarterback Jan Johnson completed 2 of 3 passes for 33-yards and 1 touchdown (for 9- yards) to Thomas Battinieri for the Governor Mifflin Mustangs. Thomas DePaul led the Governor Mifflin Mustangs rushing attack with 10 carries for 135-yards (including touchdowns of 12, 10, and 11-yards), followed by Johnson with 99 (including a 10-yard touchdown), Ryan Barbon with 75, Rhomello with 31, Jonas Fiant with 28 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Aric Dupell with 26 (including an 11-yard touchdown), Majid Sillah with 17, Bret Kendall with 6, Hunter Reeser with 3-yards, and Wilson Fontanez with 1-yard. The Panthers will visit the 1st seeded Bulldogs of Wilson (10-1 overall, 7-0 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1) in the second round of the playoffs. Sherief Sutton led the Panthers rushing attack with 80-yards (including a 24-yard touchdown), followed by Marquis Fells with 54-yards (including a 4-yard touchdown), Darian Hampton with 47, Breaun Randle with 17, Zach Steffee with 12, Corey Hartz with 2-yards, and Blue Curry with minus 3-yards. Class AAA Playoffs As the 2nd seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division II Bulldogs of West York (9-2 overall, 4-1 league) hosted the 15th seeded YAIAA Division II Bobcats of Northeastern (6-5 overall, 4-1 league) and won The Bulldogs host the Rockets of Spring Grove (8-3 overall, 4-1 league) in the second round of the playoffs. James Johnson led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 116-yards, followed by Brock Snellbaker with 68 (including touchdowns of 11 and 3-yards), Steven Wilson with 42 (including a 43-yard

As the 10th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I Rockets of Spring Grove (8-3 overall, 4-1 league) visited the 7th seeded Greyhounds of Shippensburg (9-2 overall, 7-0 Mid-Penn Colonial Division) and were on the winning side of a 24-0 shutout in the first round of the District 3 class AAA Playoffs. The Rockets will visit the 2nd seeded Bulldogs of West York in the second round of the playoffs. Jeff Delaughter led the Rockets rushing attack with 129-yards (including a 13-yard touchdown), followed by Matt Runge with 50, Logan Hagerman with 19, and Austin Nee with 7-yards. Quarterback Runge completed 7 of 17 passes for 159-yards and 2 touchdowns, 5 for 94-yards to Nee (including a 9- yard touchdown) and 2 for 65-yards to Hagerman (including a 24-yard touchdown), for the Rockets. Andrew Luckenbaugh kicked a 42-yard field goal and 3 extra points and DeAndre Gaskins recorded 2 sacks for the Rockets. The Indians will host the 11 th seeded Barons of Manheim Central (9-2 overall, 6-1 Lancaster-Lebanon League, Section 2) in the second round of the playoffs. Colby Grant led the Indians rushing attack with 120-yards (including a 14-yard touchdown), followed by Jordan Millberry with 68, Justin Gassert with 35 (including a 19-yard touchdown), Jordan Baskerville with 16, Lorin Butler with 2-yards, and Takhi Turner with 1-yard. Quarterback Baskerville completed 7 of 10 passes for 59-yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 for 23-yards to Logan Sangree-Hills (for touchdowns of 19 and 4-yards), 2 for 18-yards to Jordan Banks, 2 for 14-yards to Mike Jones, and 1 for 4-yards to Grant, for the Indians. Takhi Turner returned an interception 24-yards for a touchdown and Nick Trovalil kicked 4 extra points for the Indians. Class AA Playoffs As the 2nd seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III Eagles of Bermudian Springs, (11-0 overall, 9-0 league) hosted the 7th seeded Blackhawks of Susquenita (7-4 overall, 7-2 Mid-Penn Capital Division) and romped to a 42-7 victory in the first round of the District 3 class AA Playoffs. The Eagles will host the Canners of Biglerville (9-2 overall, 7-2 league) in the second round of the playoffs next Friday night at 7PM. Zach Stroup led the Eagles rushing attack with 132-yards (including touchdowns of 7 and 2-yards), followed by Tristan Sponseller with 81 (including touchdowns of 1 and 5-yards), Michael Moore with 58, Landon Mohney with 44-yards (including a 7-yard touchdown), Ben Thomas with minus 4, and Brennan Waltemyer with 2-yards. Quarterback Moore completed 8 of 10 passes for 150-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 57-yards to Ryan Markle, 3 for 52-yards to Stroup (including a 14-yard touchdown), 2 for 24-yards to Brandon Markle, and 1 for 17-yards to Sponseller, for the Eagles. It was the Canners first playoff victory in school history. The Canners will visit the Eagles of Bermudian Springs in the second round of the playoffs next Friday night at 7PM. Joe Hurda led the Canners rushing attack with 124-yards (including a 1- yard touchdown), followed by Oakley Fissell with 72, Jordan Wenk with 49, Tanner Cool with 30 (including a 23-yard touchdown), and John Asper with 3-yards. Quarterback Cool completed 9 of 11 passes for 120-yards and 2 touchdowns, 5 for 93-yards to Jacob Heiland (including touchdowns of 8 and 35-yards), 1 for 26-yards to Asper, 1 for 23-yards to Fissell, and 2 for minus 22-yards to Tyler Lieberum, for the Canners. Scott McAvoy led the Spartans rushing attack with 131-yards (including a 22- yard touchdown), followed by Alex Anzalone with 106 (including a 44-yard touchdown, Brandon Gonzalez with 66, Justin Causa with 58 (including touchdowns of 20 and 18-yards), Mason Smith 55 (including a 58-yard touchdown), Joseph Cacchione with 9, Tom Paolini with 9, Sam DeBell-Mitton with 8, Sam Weaver with 5, Peter Bonino with 4, Rahul Kalani with 3, Eric Waxler with 3-yards, and Josh Naylor with 1-yard.
