2 District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties Week Eleven By Bill Engelhardt Class AAAA Playoffs As the 12th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I Mustangs of South Western (6-5 overall, 3-2 league) visited the 5th seeded Mustangs of Governor Mifflin (9-2 overall, 7-0 Berks Inter-Count 1 League) in the first round of the District 3 class AAAA Playoffs and were defeated The Mustangs of Governor Mifflin will play the Comets of Penn Manor (10-1 overall, 6-1 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1) at Millersville University next Friday at 7PM in the second round of the playoffs. The Governor Mifflin Mustangs gained 421-yards rushing and 33- yards passing for a total of 454-yards gained. Quarterback Jan Johnson completed 2 of 3 passes for 33-yards and 1 touchdown (for 9- yards) to Thomas Battinieri for the Governor Mifflin Mustangs. Thomas DePaul led the Governor Mifflin Mustangs rushing attack with 10 carries for 135-yards (including touchdowns of 12, 10, and 11-yards), followed by Johnson with 99 (including a 10-yard touchdown), Ryan Barbon with 75, Rhomello with 31, Jonas Fiant with 28 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Aric Dupell with 26 (including an 11-yard touchdown), Majid Sillah with 17, Bret Kendall with 6, Hunter Reeser with 3-yards, and Wilson Fontanez with 1-yard. David Suchoza kicked 7 extra points and DePaul intercepted 2 passes for the Governor Mifflin Mustangs. The South Western Mustangs gained 224-yards rushing and 47-yards passing for a total of 271-yards of offense. Jake Tracy kicked 2 extra points, Aram Moffitt recovered a fumble, and Gunner Holtz recorded a sack, for the South Western Mustangs. As the 8th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I Panthers of Central York (8-3 overall, 4-1 league) hosted the 9th seeded Trojans of Chambersburg (6-5 overall, 3-4 Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division) in the first round of the District 3 class AAAA Playoffs and edged out a victory. The Panthers will visit the 1st seeded Bulldogs of Wilson (10-1 overall, 7-0 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1) in the second round of the playoffs. Sherief Sutton led the Panthers rushing attack with 80-yards (including a 24-yard touchdown), followed by Marquis Fells with 54-yards (including a 4-yard touchdown), Darian Hampton with 47, Breaun Randle with 17, Zach Steffee with 12, Corey Hartz with 2-yards, and Blue Curry with minus 3-yards. Quarterback Hartz completed 9 of 23 passes for 180-yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 for 79-yards to Sutton, 2 for 52-yards to Nate Trona (including a 22-yard touchdown), 1 for 21-yards to Andrews Dadeboe, 1 for 11-yards and a touchdown to Hampton, 1 for 9-yards to Zach Emswiler, 1 for 5-yards to Fells, and 1 for 4-yards

As the 16th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I Wildcats of Dallastown (4-7 overall, 2-3 league) visited the 1st seeded Bulldogs of Wilson (10-1 overall, 7-0 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 1) in the first round of the District 3 class AAAA Playoffs and were shutout The Bulldogs will host the 8th seeded Panthers of Central York (8-3 overall, 4-1 YAIAA Division I) in the second round of the playoffs. Junior Joseph led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 51-yards (including a 20-yard touchdown), followed by Jesse Poore with 48 (including a 20-yard touchdown), Jim Brooks with 40 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Tim Whitmoyer with 46, Shane Dantzler with 25 (including a 4-yard touchdown), Javon Young with 9, John Raifsnider with 5, Jaymes Hoptley with 3, Soul Ukpong with 3, Jake Templin with a 2-yard touchdown, Connor Howell with 2-yards, Dustin Miller with minus 1-yard, and Matt Timochenko with minus 15-yards. Andrew Henry led the Wildcats rushing attack with 11-yards, followed by Damoni Weaver with 1-yard, Robert Catchings with no yards, and Adam Deardorff with no yards, as the Wildcats were held to 12-yards rushing for the game. Quarterback Henry completed 3 of 21 passes for 30-yards, 2 for 23-yards to Josh Chronister and 1 for 7-yards to Chandler Green, for the Wildcats. Henry completed 100 of 204 passes for 1,237-yards and 10 touchdowns and Catchings rushed for 1,002-yards and 8 touchdowns for the season for the Wildcats. Class AAA Playoffs As the 2nd seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division II Bulldogs of West York (9-2 overall, 4-1 league) hosted the 15th seeded YAIAA Division II Bobcats of Northeastern (6-5 overall, 4-1 league) and won The Bulldogs host the Rockets of Spring Grove (8-3 overall, 4-1 league) in the second round of the playoffs. James Johnson led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 116-yards, followed by Brock Snellbaker with 68 (including touchdowns of 11 and 3-yards), Steven Wilson with 42 (including a 43-yard

4 touchdown), Brandon Kinneman with 19-yards (including an 8-yard touchdown), Joseph Smith with 1-yard, and Ross Campbell with minus 2-yards. Quarterback Kinneman competed 7 of 11 passes for 240-yards and 3 touchdowns, 5 for 173-yards to Zack Smith (including touchdowns of 96, 27, and 7-yards) and 2 for 67-yards to Kingsley Chikezie, for the Bulldogs. Chris Markel kicked 7 extra points for the Bulldogs. KInneman has completed 82 of 146 passes for 1,410- yards and 18 touchdowns so far this season for the Bulldogs. Daniel Adams led the Bobcats rushing attack with 126-yards (including touchdowns of 11 and 35-yards), followed by Alec Miller with 25 (including a 43-yard touchdown), Nick Yinger with 18, and Jordan Kearse with 3- yards. Matt Bentz and Ethan Qualters each kicked 1 extra point, and Kody Reeser intercepted a pass and returned it 15-yards, for the Bobcats. Adams finished the season with 1,506-yards and 18 touchdowns rushing and Miller completed 61 of 140 passes for 958- yards and 11 touchdowns for the Bobcats. As the 10th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I Rockets of Spring Grove (8-3 overall, 4-1 league) visited the 7th seeded Greyhounds of Shippensburg (9-2 overall, 7-0 Mid-Penn Colonial Division) and were on the winning side of a 24-0 shutout in the first round of the District 3 class AAA Playoffs. The Rockets will visit the 2nd seeded Bulldogs of West York in the second round of the playoffs. Jeff Delaughter led the Rockets rushing attack with 129-yards (including a 13-yard touchdown), followed by Matt Runge with 50, Logan Hagerman with 19, and Austin Nee with 7-yards. Quarterback Runge completed 7 of 17 passes for 159-yards and 2 touchdowns, 5 for 94-yards to Nee (including a 9- yard touchdown) and 2 for 65-yards to Hagerman (including a 24-yard touchdown), for the Rockets. Andrew Luckenbaugh kicked a 42-yard field goal and 3 extra points and DeAndre Gaskins recorded 2 sacks for the Rockets. William Burt led the Greyhounds rushing attack with 19-yards, followed by Tony Johnson with 17-yards, Tyrell Kater with minus 1-yard, and Seth Frey with minus 40-yards, as the Greyhounds were held to minus 5-yards rushing for the game. Quarterback Frey completed 12 of 24 passes for 165-yards, 5 for 77-yards to Britton Hastings, 3 for 55-yards to Storm Fridinger, 2 for 27-yards to Kater, 1 for 8-yards to Aaron Glass, and 1 for minus 2-yards to Johnson, for the Greyhounds. As the 14th seed the Mid-Penn Keystone Division s Patriots of Red Land (6-5 overall, 3-4 league) visited the 3rd seeded Indians of Susquehanna Township (9-2 overall, 6-1 league) and were defeated in the first round of the District 3 AAA Playoffs. The Indians will host the 11 th seeded Barons of Manheim Central (9-2 overall, 6-1 Lancaster-Lebanon League, Section 2) in the second round of the playoffs. Colby Grant led the Indians rushing attack with 120-yards (including a 14-yard touchdown), followed by Jordan Millberry with 68, Justin Gassert with 35 (including a 19-yard touchdown), Jordan Baskerville with 16, Lorin Butler with 2-yards, and Takhi Turner with 1-yard. Quarterback Baskerville completed 7 of 10 passes for 59-yards and 2 touchdowns, 2 for 23-yards to Logan Sangree-Hills (for touchdowns of 19 and 4-yards), 2 for 18-yards to Jordan Banks, 2 for 14-yards to Mike Jones, and 1 for 4-yards to Grant, for the Indians. Takhi Turner returned an interception 24-yards for a touchdown and Nick Trovalil kicked 4 extra points for the Indians. A 43-yard punt return by Millberry and a 43-yard kick return by Grant helped set up two of the Indians touchdowns. John Ford led the Patriots rushing attack with 117-yards (including a 4-yard touchdown), followed by Josh Hershey with 23, Phillip

Quarterback Scott completed 7 of 18 passes for 51-yards and 1 touchdown, 3 for 18-yards to DeRyan George, 2 for 15-yards to Nathan Payne, 1 for 10-yards and a touchdown to Kyle Searfoss, and 1 for 8- yards to Austin Calhoun, for the Patriots. John Stoner kicked 2 extra points for the Patriots. Class AA Playoffs As the 2nd seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III Eagles of Bermudian Springs, (11-0 overall, 9-0 league) hosted the 7th seeded Blackhawks of Susquenita (7-4 overall, 7-2 Mid-Penn Capital Division) and romped to a 42-7 victory in the first round of the District 3 class AA Playoffs. The Eagles will host the Canners of Biglerville (9-2 overall, 7-2 league) in the second round of the playoffs next Friday night at 7PM. Zach Stroup led the Eagles rushing attack with 132-yards (including touchdowns of 7 and 2-yards), followed by Tristan Sponseller with 81 (including touchdowns of 1 and 5-yards), Michael Moore with 58, Landon Mohney with 44-yards (including a 7-yard touchdown), Ben Thomas with minus 4, and Brennan Waltemyer with 2-yards. Quarterback Moore completed 8 of 10 passes for 150-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 57-yards to Ryan Markle, 3 for 52-yards to Stroup (including a 14-yard touchdown), 2 for 24-yards to Brandon Markle, and 1 for 17-yards to Sponseller, for the Eagles. Aaron Rebert kicked 3 extra points, B.J. Yoder kicked 1 extra point, Moore threw a 2-point conversion pass to Stroup, Chris McManama recorded a sack, and Coby Erb and Jake Slonaker shared a sack, for the Eagles. Stroup now has 1,257-yards and 17 touchdowns rushing and 163- yards and 3 touchdowns receiving for the season. Sponseller now has 1,044-yards and 14 touchdowns rushing for the season. Moore has completed 58 of 109 passes for 1,114-yards and 8 touchdowns for the season. Todd Mullen led the Blackhawks rushing attack with 29-yards, followed by Dalton Jones with 14, Jordan Baker with 9, AJ Peck with 3-yards, Dakota Hansel with 1-yard, and Brett Morrison with minus 6-yards. Quarterback Morrison completed 12 of 18 passes for 89-yards and 1 touchdown, 4 for 52-yards to Evan Miller (including a 23-yard touchdown), 3 for 18-yards to Peck, 2 for 14-yards to Mullen, and 3 for 5-yards to Drew Knowles, for the Blackhawks. Alex Clayton kicked 1 extra point for the Blackhawks. As the 6th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III Canners of Biglerville (9-2 overall, 7-2 league) visited the 3rd seeded seed Shamrocks of Trinity (9-2 over, 7-0 Mid Penn Capital Division) and eked out a upset victory in the first round of the District 3 class AA Playoffs. It was the Canners first playoff victory in school history. The Canners will visit the Eagles of Bermudian Springs in the second round of the playoffs next Friday night at 7PM. Joe Hurda led the Canners rushing attack with 124-yards (including a 1- yard touchdown), followed by Oakley Fissell with 72, Jordan Wenk with 49, Tanner Cool with 30 (including a 23-yard touchdown), and John Asper with 3-yards. Quarterback Cool completed 9 of 11 passes for 120-yards and 2 touchdowns, 5 for 93-yards to Jacob Heiland (including touchdowns of 8 and 35-yards), 1 for 26-yards to Asper, 1 for 23-yards to Fissell, and 2 for minus 22-yards to Tyler Lieberum, for the Canners. Justin Trostle kicked 4 extra points, Lieberum intercepted 2 passes and blocked an extra point kick, T Group intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble, and D Grubbs intercepted 1 pass, for the Canners. Adam Geiger led the Shamrock rushing attack with 169-yards (including touchdowns of 6 and 4-yards), followed by Mike Boguski with 45, Danny Jackson with 2-yards, and John Miller with 1-yard. Kuntz returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns (for 70 and 88-yards), and Alex Cramer kicked 2 extra points for the Shamrocks. As the 8th seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III Thunderbolts of Littlestown (7-4 overall, 6-3 league) were defeated by the 1st seeded Spartans of Wyomissing (11-0 overall, 7-0 Berks Inter-County 2 League) at Governor Mifflin High School in the first round of the District 3 class AA Playoffs. The Spartans will host the 5 th seeded Panthers of Schuylkill Valley (8-3 overall, 4-2 Berks Inter-County 2) in the second round of the playoffs. Scott McAvoy led the Spartans rushing attack with 131-yards (including a 22- yard touchdown), followed by Alex Anzalone with 106 (including a 44-yard touchdown, Brandon Gonzalez with 66, Justin Causa with 58 (including touchdowns of 20 and 18-yards), Mason Smith 55 (including a 58-yard touchdown), Joseph Cacchione with 9, Tom Paolini with 9, Sam DeBell-Mitton with 8, Sam Weaver with 5, Peter Bonino with 4, Rahul Kalani with 3, Eric Waxler with 3-yards, and Josh Naylor with 1-yard. Quarterback Cacchione completed 4 of 7 passes for 100-yards and 1 touchdown, 1 for 45-yards and a touchdown to Gerald Burns, 1 for 31-yarfds to Causa, 1 for 18-yards to Spencer Lloyd, and 1 for 6-yards to Smith, and quarterback Scott Kuczala completed 1 of 2 passes for 1-yard to Bern Donahue, for the Spartans. Jonah Bowman kicked a 33-yard field goal and 6 extra points for the Spartans. Jeremy Shoemaker led the Thunderbolts rushing attack with 28-yarfds, followed by Ryan Rickell with 20, Dustin Crouse with 12, Dustin DeGroft with 11, Cody Hartlaub with 6 (including a 6-yard touchdown), Ryan Griffin with 3-yards, and Trevor Hildebrand with minus 7-yards. Quarterback Crouse completed 17 of 30 passes for 190-yards and 1 touchdown and quarterback Trevor Hildebrand completed 1 of 2 passes for 4-yards for the Thunderbolts. Nick Hornbrook caught 8 passes for 85-yards (including a 4-yard touchdown from Crouse), Rickell caught 4 passes for 47-yards, Seth McGregor caught 4 passes for 32-yards, Garrett Trout caught 1 pass for 25-yards, and DeGroft caught 1 pass for 5-yards, for the Thunderbolts. Dalton Strickler kicked 1 extra point, Josh Hicks recovered a fumble, and Hartlaub recorded a sack, for the Thunderbolts. Crouse ended his season completing 96 of 190 passes for 1,251-yards and 13 touchdowns for the Thunderbolts. Class A Playoffs As the 1st seed the York Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division III The Squires of Delone Catholic (7-3 overall, 7-2 league) drew a bye in the first round and will host the 4th seeded Crimson Tide of Columbia (4-6 overall, 3-4 Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3) in the first round of the District 3 class A Playoffs on Friday, November 16.
