1 District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties Week Eight By Bill Engelhardt York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division I action: The Mustangs of South Western (7-1 overall, 4-1 league) were edged by the Panthers of Central York (6-2 overall, 5-0 league) on the strength of an extra point kick in a driving rainstorm, putting the Panthers in the drivers seat for the division title. Charles Anderson led the Panthers rushing attack with 38 carries for 310-yards (including touchdowns of 65 and 57-yards), followed by Parrish Fells with 1 carry for 11-yards, Chris Englar with 2 carries for 1-yard, and Brandon Baker with 6 carries for minus 11-yards. Quarterback Baker completed 2 of 8 passes for 24-yards, both to Fells, for the Panthers. Aaron Goodyear kicked the game winning extra point for the Panthers. Brandon Kenney intercepted a pass for the Panthers to end the Mustangs last chance for a score, and Kyle Baublitz and Karl Rice each blocked a punt for the Panthers. Levi Sager led the Mustangs rushing attack with 9 carries for 39-yards, followed by Kyle King with 6 carries for 23-yards, J. R. Mummert with 8 carries for 19-yards, Ian Smith with 6 carries for 8-yards, and Jeb Shipley with 4 carries for minus 3-yards. The Rockets of Spring Grove (4-4 overall, 2-3 league) shutout the Bearcats of William Penn of York (6-2 overall, 3-2 league) Bobby Bailey led the Rockets rushing attack with 82-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Patrick Thomas with 27, Neal Grudi with 17, Jesse Meckley with 10 (including a 2-yard touchdown), and Joshua Slate with 4-yards. Quarterback Grudi completed 3 of 9 passes for 89-yards and a touchdown, 1 for 54-yards and a touchdown to Cortlin Dell, 1 for 27-yards to Ben Reigart, and 1 for 8-yards to Walker, for the Rockets. Reigart kicked 4 extra points, Max Ruby returned an interception 14-yards for a touchdown, and Trey Duncan, Matt Shearer each recovered a fumble, Seth Miller, Ruby and Drew Tiehel each recorded a sack, and Patrick Bradenbaugh, Tyler Miller, and Billy Waltersdorf each recorded a half sack, for the Rockets. The Wildcats of Dallastown (4-4 overall, 3-2 league) defeated the Eagles of Dover (0-8 overall, 0-5 league) Anthony DeFabio led the Wildcats rushing attack with 113-yards (including touchdowns of 42, 3, and 1-yards), followed by Tyler Imhoff with 104 (including a 36-yard touchdown), Ben Kline with 64, and Ford Reinalda with 28-yards. Quarterback Reinalda did not complete a pass, and attempted only 3 in the game, for the Wildcats. George Christas intercepted a pass and returned it 45-yards for a touchdown, Kori Stith intercepted a pass, and Bobby Esiaba, Kline, and Jack Margavitch each recovered a fumble for the Wildcats. Ryan Behrmann kicked 5 extra points for the Wildcats. Jared Shipley led the Eagles rushing attack with 74-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Mark Ball with 47, Devin Dellinger with 7 (including a 4-yard touchdown), Kiem LeGrant with 7, and Donovan Frantz with 3-yards. York-Adams Interscholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division II action: The Bulldogs of West York (8-0 overall, 4-0 league) defeated the Rams of Kennard-Dale (4-4 overall, 2-2 league) Alex George led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 156-yards (including a 57-yard touchdown), followed by Corey Harris with 72 (including touchdowns of 1 and 1-yards), Zach Trone with 18 (including an 11-yard touchdown), Jerrin Toomey with 4- yards, Darrion Bundy with 1-yard, and Cody Harlacker with minus 1-yard. Quarterback George completed 6 of 11 passes for 96-yards and a touchdown, 2 for 61-yards to Harris (including a 44- yard touchdown), 1 for 12-yards to Bundy, 1 for 10-yards to Brett Campbell, 1 for 7-yards to Toomey, and 2 for 6-yards to Dan Gay, for the Bulldogs. Blake Shaffer kicked 5 extra points for the Bulldogs. Alex George was definitely the sparkplug for the Bulldogs in this game. His 44- yard touchdown pass was a perfect spiral against the wind in terrible weather conditions, and it put the Bulldogs up 21-0 as the first half came to an end. Jerrin Toomey recovered a fumble and Austin Whitehead recorded a sack for the Bulldogs. Ethan Hornbarger led the Rams rushing attack with 61-yards (including a 5-yard touchdown), followed by Josh Myers with 39 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Shane Solomon with 12, and Zach Brown with 3-yards. Wes Smith led the Squires rushing attack with 117-yards, followed by Dusty Reed with 84 (including a 50-yard touchdown), Kodi Reed with 52-yards (including a 14-yard touchdown), and Austin Brady with minus 12-yards. Quarterback Brady completed 3 of 5 passes for 34-yards and a touchdown, all to Matt Haines (including a 17-yard touchdown), for the Squires. Porter Strickler kicked an extra point and Smith ran in for a 2-point conversion for the Squires. Jeisson Lloret led the Eagles rushing attack with 90-yards, followed by Austin Keller with 49-yards (including a 19-yard touchdown), Austin Brumfield with no yards, and Mike Thoman with minus 7-yards.
