1 District 3 Notes for York & Adams Counties Week Eleven By Bill Engelhardt As the 4th seed in District 3, class AAAA, the Mustangs of South Western (10-1 overall, 6-1 YAIAA Division I) hosted the 13th seeded Colts of Cedar Cliff (6-5 overall, 3-1 Mid-Penn Keystone Division) at the Mustang Corral in the first round of the playoffs and came away with a thrilling victory. The Mustangs will host the 5th seeded Comets of Penn Manor (9-2 overall, 4-2 Lancaster-Lebanon League Division 1) in the quarterfinal round. Levi Sager led the Mustangs rushing attack with 16 carries for 106-yards (including a 26-yard touchdown), followed by J. R. Mummert with 20 carries for 105-yards (including touchdowns of 29 and 1, and 1-yards), Kyle King with 7 carries for 24-yards, and Ian Smith with 6 carries for 9-yards. Quarterback Smith completed 11 of 18 passes for 119-yards and 1 touchdown, 3 for 39-yards to Mike Felton (including a 20-yard touchdown, 3 for 36-yards to Sager, 2 for 14-yards to Kyle King, 2 for 13-yards to Jimmy Nicklas, and 1 or 17-yards to Kyle Mahorney, for the Mustangs. Mike Felton returned an interception 75-yards for the game winning touchdown, Levi Sager intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble, Ian Smith kicked 3 extra points, and Ryan Sexton and Jake Shaffer each recorded a sack, Kyle King and Cody Fricke were each credited with 2 pass defenses, Ryan Sexton and Aaron Bosley were each credited with a pass defense, and Fricke, Kyle Mahorney, Shaffer and Billy Utz were each credited with a pass hurry, for the Mustangs. Dan Moore led the Colts rushing offense with 19 carries for 96-yards (including touchdowns of 9 and 2-yards), followed by Tyler Orris with 5 carries for 13-yards, and A. D. As the 7th seed in District 3, class AAAA, the Panthers of Central York (7-3 overall, 6-1 Division I) hosted the 10th seeded Wildcats of Dallastown (6-4 overall, 5-2 YAIAA Division I) and came won The Panthers will next visit the 2nd seeded Bulldogs of Wilson (10-1 overall, 6-0 Lebanon-Lancaster League Division 1) in the quarterfinal round. Charles Anderson led the Panthers rushing attack with 78-yards (including a 41-yard touchdown), followed by Zach Sprenkle with 9, Chris Englar with 3-yards, Parrish Fells with no yards, Jalil Ford with minus 3-yards, and Brandon Baker with minus 10-yards. Quarterback Baker completed 10 of 18 passes for 135-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 56-yards to Justin Burke (including a 44-yard touchdown), 4 for 54-yards to Parrish Fells, 1 for 13-yards to Ricky Bastida, and 1 for 12-yards to Kyle Baublitz, and Aaron Goodyear completed 1 pass to Kyle Lingg for minus 8-yards, for the Panthers. Marques Fells returned an interception 54-yards for a touchdown, Dylan Wanner returned a fumble 10-yards for a touchdown, Raphael Nwanguma intercepted a pass in the end zone, and Aaron Goodyear kicked 4 extra points, for the Panthers. Tyler Imhoff led the Wildcats rushing attack with 25-yards, followed by Anthony DeFabio with 9, Adam Lawicki with 5-yards, and Josh Luckenbaugh with minus 6-yards. 2 As the 14th seed in District 3, class AAAA, the Rockets of Spring Grove (6-5 overall, 3-4 YAIAA Division I) visited the 3rd seeded Rams of Central Dauphin (9-2 overall, 4-1 Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division) and were defeated The Rams will host the 6th seeded Eagles of Cumberland Valley (9-2 overall, 3-2 Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division) in the quarterfinal round. Tyler Lee led the Rams rushing attack with 88-yards (including a 6-yard touchdown), followed by Colton Charles with 76 (including touchdowns of 4, 22, and 5-yards), Kyle Wolfe with 55 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Ryan Nielson with 15, Marcus Simpson with 5, Brian Morris with 4, Brett Green with 3, Jon Schnaars with 2-yards, Lewis Correale with 1-yard, and Alex Parson with 1 yard. Quarterback Correale completed 4 of 11 passes for 52-yards, 3 for 46- yards to Simpson and 1 for 6-yards to Wolfe, for the Rams. The Rams earned a safety when a Rockets snap went out of the end zone. Kris Brown led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 110-yards, followed by Nick Greth with 26, Zach Zweizig with 11, Zach Davis with 8, Johnny Morgan with 4, Brad Ohlinger with 2-yards, and Calvin Panghulan with minus 18-yards. The Bulldogs will host the 11th seeded Buckskins of Conestoga Valley (7-4 overall, 4-3 Lancaster-Lebanon League Division 2) in the quarterfinal round. Corey Harris led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 258-yards (including touchdowns of 66, 15, 1 and 1-yards), followed by Alex George with 43 (including an 8-yard

Quarterback Campbell completed 9 of 13 passes for 143-yards and 3 touchdowns, 5 for 91-yards to Austin Warfel (including touchdowns of 13 and 35-yards), 3 for 55-yards to Joe Gunkel (including a 30- yard touchdown), and 1 for minus 3-yards to Chris Flowers, for the Trojans. Chris Bennett kicked what turned out to be the game winning 24-yard field goal and 3 extra points for the Trojans. Ethan Hornbarger led the Rams rushing attack with 131-yards, followed by Matt Romoser with 115 (including touchdowns of 1 and 1-yards), Zach Brown with 19, and Raymond Figueroa with 19-yards. Quarterback Romoser, completed 5 of 10 passes for 40-yards and a touchdown, 4 for 28-yards to Zach Brown (including a 6-yard touchdown), and 1 for 12-yards to Matt Chenoweth, for the Rams. Zac Moser kicked 3 extra points for the Rams. A 36-yard field goal attempt that would have tied the score with 34 seconds left in the game fell just short for the valiant Rams.

4 As the 15th seed in class AAA, the Colonials of New Oxford (5-6 overall, 2-5 YAIAA Division I) visited the 2nd seeded Indians of Susquehanna Township (10-1 overall, 5-0 Mid-Penn Colonial Division) and were defeated The Indians will host the 7th seeded Eagles of Cocalico (9-2 overall, 5-2 Lancaster-Lebanon League Division 2) in the quarter final round. Ben Dupree led the Indians rushing attack with 84-yards (including a 20-yard touchdown), followed by Adrian Arp with 54 (including an 11-yard touchdown), Mike Johnson with 39, Maury Young with 26 (including a 20-yard touchdown), Leroy McClain with 24, Sukwan Thomas with 20, Brandon Baltimore with 19, Shane Mills with 8, Robert Terrel with 4, Malcolm Wertz with 4- yards, and J. C. Rowe with minus 4-yards. Wes Smith led the Squires rushing attack with 189-yards (including touchdowns of 90, 3 and 74-yards), followed by Dusty Reed with 183 (including touchdowns of 23 and 53-yards), Kodi Reed with 41, Austin Brady with 14 (including a 2-yard touchdown), and Sam Comly with 9-yards. Quarterback Austin Brady completed 5 of 9 passes for 86-yards and 1 touchdown, 2 for 56-yards to Dusty Reed, 1 for 13-yards to Comly, 1 for 12-yards to Jake Robinson, and 1 for 5-yards and a touchdown to Matt Haines, for the Squires. Sean Doherty led the Thunderbolts rushing attack with 82-yards, followed by Matt Zuber with 40, Tyler Fodor with 31 (including a 1-yard touchdown), Matt Koontz with 26, Tanner Mitz with 16-yards, and Josh Bucher with 1-yard. As the 8th seed in District 3, class AA, the Trojans of York Suburban (7-4 overall, 4-2 YAIAA Division II) visited the 1st seeded Crusaders of Lancaster Catholic (10-1 overall, 7-0 Lancaster- Lebanon League Division 3) and were defeated The Crusaders will host the 5th seeded Blue Raiders of Middletown (8-3 overall, 4-1 Mid-Penn Liberty Division) in the semifinal round. Jordan Stewart led the Crusaders rushing attack with 132-yards (including touchdowns of 61, 6 and 3-yards), followed by Kyle Smith with 118 (including a 41-yard touchdown), Quinn Houser with 11, Rhys McCall with 10, and Trevor St. Clair with 6-yards. Quarterback Smith completed 22 of 29 passes for 302-yards and 3 touchdowns (he has completed a 118 of 186 passes for yards and 38 touchdowns for the season), 5 for 94-yards to Tyler Purvis (including a 26-yard touchdown), 4 for 64-yards to Kevin Cotchen (including a 26-yard touchdown), 5 for 57-yards to McCall, 2 for 46-yards to Houser, 3 for 15-yards to Andrew Millay, 2 for 15-yards to St. Clair, and 1 for 11-yards and a touchdown to Seth Graham, for the Crusaders. As the 5th seed in District 3, class A, the Fighting Irish of York Catholic (7-4 overall, 5-1 YAIAA Division III) visited the 4th seeded Blue Jays of Reading Holy Name (7-4 overall, 6-0 Berks Inter-County Division 2) and came away with a victory. The Fighting Irish will visit the 1st seeded Trojans of Upper Dauphin (9-1 overall, 7-1 Twin Valley League) in the semifinal round. Nicholas Full led the Fighting Irish rushing attack with 61-yards (including a 1- yard touchdown), followed by Adam Sentz with 55 (including a 5-yard touchdown), Patrick Montgomery with 38, and Gary Laucks with 11-yards. Quarterback Sentz completed 7 of 11 passes for 165-yards and 1 touchdown, 6 for 135-yards to Laucks (including a 58-yard touchdown) and 1 for 17-yards to Ethan Urey, for the Fighting Irish. Brett Moore kicked a 36- yard field goal and 2 extra points for the Fighting Irish. Fred Caruso led the Blue Jays rushing attack with 192-yards (including touchdowns of 21 and 81-yards), followed by Dan Christian with 54, Jeremy Figura with 39, Collin Hecker with 10-yards, and Brian Eliff with a 1-yard touchdown. 6 In a regular season game postponed from early in the season due to an outbreak of staph infection the Nighthawks of Hanover (1-9 overall, 1-5 YAIAA Division III) were defeated by the Bulldogs of Big Spring (3-7 overall, 1-3 Mid-Penn Capital Division) in non-league action. Austin Coyle led the Bulldogs rushing attack with 93-yards (including a 60-yard touchdown on the first play of the game), followed by Corey Cassel with 72, Zach Stroh with 11-yards, and Matt Gibson with 1-yard. Stroh completed 2 of 2 passes for 38-yards and a touchdown, 1 for 32- yards and a touchdown to Nick Sheaffer and 1 for 6-yards to Gibson, and Barry Deitch failed to complete a pass in 4 attempts, for the Bulldogs. Tyler Durham kicked a 39-yard field goal and 3 extra points, and Cassel returned an interception 42-yards for a touchdown, for the Bulldogs. Matt Felton led the Nighthawks rushing attack with 58-yards (including a 1-yard touchdown), followed by Jake Goodfellow with 21, Billy Hill with 10, Peyton Caler with 7-yards, Billy Heitzel with no yards, and Wes Reichart with no yards.
