8 THE HEAD COACHES TEXANS HEAD COACH BILL O BRIEN BENGALS HEAD COACH MARVIN LEWIS Bill O Brien was named the third head coach in Houston Texans franchise history on Friday, Jan. 3, The 45-year old brings 21 years of collegiate and NFL coaching experience to the Bayou City in addition to a tireless work ethic, relentless tenacity, exceptional football acumen and a well-earned reputation for succeeding against all odds. O Brien spent 2012 and 2013 leading Penn State through one of the greatest periods of strife any major college program has endured, garnering national and conference coach-of-the-year awards in the process. In the five years prior to his tenure at Penn State, O Brien helped lead the New England Patriots to a pair of Super Bowl berths, first as an offensive assistant in 2007 and again in 2011 as offensive coordinator. In addition to replacing Joe Paterno, the all-time winningest head coach in NCAA Football Bowl Division history, O Brien was saddled with guiding PSU through heavy scholarship reductions, a four-year postseason ban and an open transfer policy amidst the public aftermath of a devastating scandal that threatened the football program s storied existence. O Brien led PSU to wins in eight of its last 10 games in 2012 to finish 8-4. He also served as offensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions and was named the Bear Bryant, Maxwell Football Club and ESPN National Coach of the Year. He won more games than any other first-year head coach in the program s previous 125 seasons. O Brien was also named the Big Ten coach of the year by both media and coaches. PSU posted a 7-5 record in 2013 and had upset wins against 18th-ranked Michigan and 14th-ranked Wisconsin. O Brien rose from offensive assistant with the Patriots in 2007 to wide receivers coach in 2008 and then quarterbacks coach from prior to his promotion to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in The Patriots led the AFC in scoring and advanced to Super Bowl XLVI with O Brien coordinating the offense in In O Brien s second season as quarterbacks coach with the Patriots in 2010, Tom Brady was selected the first unanimous Associated Press NFL MVP after leading the Patriots to an NFL-best 14-2 mark. O Brien began his coaching career as tight ends coach at Brown in 1993 before serving as inside linebackers coach in He joined Georgia Tech s staff in 1995 as a graduate assistant. After three seasons coaching running backs, O Brien was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2001 and assistant head coach in O Brien coached running backs at Maryland from before serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Duke from O Brien played linebacker and defensive end at Brown, where he graduated with a double concentration in political science and organizational behavioral management in O Brien and his wife, Colleen, have two sons: Jack and Michael. He has led his team to the postseason in four of the last five years, including three straight. The Bengals are one of only five NFL teams to be in the playoffs every year since 2011, and they are one of only six clubs to qualify as many as four times in five years. In total, Lewis has coached five Bengals playoff teams, also a franchise record. Lewis opens the 2014 season with 90 career victories, the most in Bengals history by a margin of 26 wins. The Bengals went 11-5 in the 2013 regular season and won the AFC North Division championship by two games over Baltimore and Pittsburgh. The campaign ended in abrupt disappointment, however, as Cincinnati lost at home to underdog San Diego in the first round of the playoffs. In 2013, the Bengals ranked in the NFL s top 10 in scoring (tied for sixth), scoring defense (tied for fifth), net offense (10th) and net defense (third). The defense s No 3 finish in net yards tied the second-best performance in franchise history. Lewis got a rare coaching-tree compliment after the 2013 season when his offensive and defensive coordinators, Jay Gruden and Mike Zimmer, both moved on to head coaching jobs. Last year s division title was Cincinnati s third in the Lewis era. Lewis was the consensus choice as Bill O Brien Marvin Lewis 5-5 Reg. Lewis came to the Bengals after six seasons ( ) with the Baltimore Ravens, which included a Super Bowl victory in 2000, when his defense set the NFL record for fewest points allowed in a 16-game campaign (165). In 2002, Lewis led the Washington Redskins to a No. 5 NFL defensive ranking, serving as assistant head coach as well as defensive coordinator. He had his first NFL assignment from , as linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. 12 THE LAST TIME THEY MET... AFC WILD CARD: Houston 19, Cincinnati 13 71,738 Reliant Stadium Houston, Texas Jan. 5, 2013 GAME SUMMARY The Texans overcame a stagnant red-zone offense with a dominant defense and running game to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in a Wild Card playoff game at Reliant Stadium. In a rematch of last year s Wild Game at Reliant Stadium, which the Texans won 31-10, Houston dominated Cincinnati just about everywhere but the scoreboard. They outgained the Bengals and controlled the ball for 38:49. The game stayed close to the end because the Texans were 1-of-4 in the red zone and settled for four field goals. After finishing the season on a 1-3 skid, the Texans (13-4) went back to a familiar formula to pound the Bengals (10-7). RB Arian Foster carried 32 times for 140 yards and a touchdown. The defense allowed just two field goals, pressured QB Andy Dalton constantly and held the Bengals to 0-of-9 on third down. Dalton finished the game with 127 passing yards, one interception and a passer rating of The Bengals lone touchdown came on a Matt Schaub pick-six in the second quarter. Schaub played an otherwise efficient game, going 29-of-38 for 262 yards with an 83.4 passer rating in his first-career playoff start. Schaub missed the Texans inaugural playoff run last season with a broken foot. A raucous sellout crowd of 71,738, a new franchise record for attendance, helped the Texans set the tone from the start of the game. They went ahead 3-0 on the game-opening drive and trailed only for a seven-minute period in the second quarter. The Texans outgained the Bengals in the first half but led just 9-7 after stalling twice in the red zone in the second quarter, leading to two Shayne Graham field goals from within 30 yards. Schaub was picked off on third-and-three from the Houston 19-yard line in the second quarter. CB Leon Hall stepped in front of a pass in the left flat intended for FB James Casey and returned it 21 yards for a touchdown with 9:30 remaining in the second quarter. That put the Bengals up 7-6 despite having only 29 yards of offense. The second half started with the Texans defense forcing a three-and-out and the Texans offense scoring its only touchdown. Foster ran it in from one yard out on second-and-goal to cap a six-play, 46-yard scoring drive. Joseph picked off Dalton late in the third quarter, giving the Texans the ball back at the Cincinnati 26. The Texans could not convert the turnover into a touchdown but came away with another short field goal, this one from 24 yards, to go up The Bengals cut the deficit to with a 47-yard field goal by Josh Brown on their next drive. They got the ball back with 6:15 remaining and a chance to take the lead, bu thte Texans forced a turnover on downs on fourth-and-11 from the Houston 36 when Joseph and S Shiloh Keo tackled WR Marvin Jones after an 8-yard gain. The Texans ran out the remaining 2:44. Head Coach Gary Kubiak called for a play-action pass on third-and-two from the Houston 36 with 2:33 remaining, and TE Garrett Graham made a 7-yard catch in traffic to move the chains. Foster ran 10 yards for another first down two plays later to ice the game and send the Texans on to the Divisional Round. Texans TE Owen Daniels had a game-high nine catches for 91 yards. DE J.J. Watt and OLB Brooks Reed both sacked Dalton. CB Johnathan Joseph, who played for the Bengals from , had an interception against his former team in the playoffs for the second consecutive year. 13 WEEK 11 VS. CLEVELAND BROWNS GAME 10: Houston 23, Cleveland 7 71,780 FirstEnergy Stadium Cleveland, Ohio Nov. 16, 2014 GAME SUMMARY Game write-up courtesy of the Associated Press Once he finished ransacking Cleveland s offense, J.J. Watt met Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer near midfield and gave him a hug. They became close Sunday. Too close for Hoyer. Watt nearly beat Cleveland himself, catching a 2-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Mallett, dominating on defense and leading the Houston Texans to a 23-7 win over the Browns on Sunday. Houston s indomitable No. 99 was everywhere. Along with scoring his fourth TD this season, he recorded a strip sack, made five tackles - three for a loss - recovered a fumble and hurried Hoyer into several bad throws. Watt was unstoppable, providing more proof he s the NFL s best defensive player. Mallett threw a pair of TD passes and finished with 211 yards in his first career start. The four-year veteran was promoted during the bye week after the Texans (5-5) benched Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Mallett delivered a needed spark. So did rookie running back Alfred Blue. He filled in for injured star Arian Foster (groin) and gained 156 yards on a franchise-record 36 carries. The Browns (6-4) won t spend a second straight week atop the AFC North. They lost for just the second time in seven games, and Watt is the main reason why. The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder scored Houston s first TD, grabbing Mallett s first career scoring pass for his fourth TD in He s the first defensive lineman to score four times in a season since He wasn t perfect, getting called for two roughing-the-punter penalties, but Watt more than made up for his mistakes by wreaking havoc along Cleveland s offensive front. Randy Bullock kicked field goals of 46, 37 and 50 yards for the Texans. Mallett finished 20 of 30 and outdueled Hoyer in a battle of former Brady backups. Hoyer spent the afternoon ducking and dodging Houston s relentless defensive front led by Watt. Linebacker Brian Cushing delivered a monstrous hit in the fourth quarter on Hoyer, who struggled to get up, dropped to his knees and barely composed himself as backup Johnny Manziel scrambled for his helmet. Browns running back Ben Tate had just two carries for minus-9 yards against his former team. As expected, Watt made his presence felt. The surprising part was that it was on both sides of the ball. In the first quarter, Mallett hooked up with DeAndre Hopkins on a 41-yard completion - the longest play on an 89-yard drive - to move the ball to the Cleveland 2. On first-and-goal, Watt lined up as Houston s left tight end before shifting to wide receiver. Mallett then lofted the ball to the agile Watt, who caught it over rookie linebacker Chris Kirksey and was able to get his knee down inbounds for the score. Mallett s 20-yard TD pass to tight end Garrett Graham gave the Texans a 14-7 lead and capped a first half in which Watt had an impact on offense, defense and special teams. After he caught his second TD pass this season, Watt sacked and knocked the ball away from Hoyer and later recovered a fumble caused by Cushing that led to Houston s go-ahead score. With the Browns driving late in the second quarter, Cushing, who missed the previous two games with a knee injury, poked the ball away from Cleveland rookie running back Isaiah Crowell. Watt, who had been pacing the sideline after his second roughing penalty, pounced on the fumble. 13 SCORING SCORE BY PERIODS OT Total Houston Texans Cleveland Browns SCORING DRIVES Team Qtr Time Play Description (Extra Point) (Drive info) HOU HOU Texans 1 7:09 J.Watt 2 yd. pass from R.Mallett (R.Bullock kick) (12-89, 4:47) 7 0 Browns 2 8:58 A.Hawkins 32 yd. pass from B.Hoyer (B.Cundiff kick) (7-62, 2:38) 7 7 Texans 2 0:23 G.Graham 20 yd. pass from R.Mallett (R.Bullock kick) (9-78, 2:43) 14 7 Texans 3 5:16 R.Bullock 46 yd. 15 BILL O BRIEN PRESS CONFERENCE Monday, November NRG Stadium (on if he has regretted not going with QB Ryan Mallett earlier in the season) I knew that question was coming. I didn t know it would be the first one. No, I haven t. I haven t. We always try to make decisions that are best for the team. As we went through the beginning part of the season, the first half of the season, we tried to evaluate game to game and week to week each guys performance and the team s performance and each unit s performance. We did what we did. We felt like those were the best decisions for the team, so after the Philadelphia game, we came into a bye week there and we really had a chance to sit down and look at what our team needed, what was best for our team. And one of the things we felt we needed was a quarterback change, and so that s what we did. (on if the change to QB Ryan Mallett was about his advancement) A lot of it had to do with that. A lot of it had to do with what he had seen from the time he was traded to us to that point. Meaning, when he got here, how was he with his command of the offense, how much had he grown as a professional football player, how much had he grown in his knowledge of the offense. And again, yesterday he did a good job. He did a solid job, but he made mistakes. It was one game. There is a lot of things that we need to clean up with a lot of players, including him, but it was a good start for him. (on what he pleased him the most about QB Ryan Mallett s play) I thought that his, kind of like what I was saying I had seen at practice I saw in the game, the huddle command, the ability to get us into the right play at the line of scrimmage, his poise on the sideline, his communication with his teammates on the sideline. I thought he was decisive for the most part in the passing game. I had him down for two poor decisions. When you throw the ball whatever it was, 30 times, and you only have two poor decisions, that s not bad for a first start. Those were the things that I had seen in practice and it was good to see that in a game. (on picking up the pace on offense) That s one thing that I had seen in practice. He (Ryan Mallett) understood the rhythm that we wanted to play. He had performed that well in practice. When we continually saw that week-to-week, we knew that he was a guy that when he got into the game, that he would know how we wanted to play. Up-tempo, huddle-tempo, in-between tempo, he has a good grasp on those things. (on the development of RB Alfred Blue and if he sensed that he was up for a breakout game) He had 36 carries and had 156 yards. He had plenty of chances to get over 100 yards. We gave him the ball 36 times. He did a good job. Don t get me wrong, but I don t think he s headed for Canton quite yet. He did a good job, but we knew that when we drafted him that we felt we had a guy that was a smart player, a tough player, a really good teammate, a guy that could fill a lot of different roles. Obviously he can play running back, he s been good on special teams for us and he s our personal protector on our punt team. It s very difficult to come in as a rookie and be the personal protector. You have to bark out the signals, you have to understand the looks and things like that. He s done a really good job with those things. And then yesterday he did a really good job running the football. He knows, like I told him today, that you re only as good really as your next game. How are going to perform in your next game. That s the most important game. BILL O BRIEN TRANSCRIPT (on the play of the offensive line) They probably played their best game of the year. They blocked well, they protected well, they blocked well in the running game, they protected well in the passing game and there was good communication. Of course there are certain plays that they all wish they could have back. Maybe a bad snap here, a holding call here, a poor landmark here. We ve got to fix some of these things moving forward. Overall, those guys I thought played a whale of a game. (Duane) Brown, (Ben) Jones, (Chris) Myers, (Brandon) Brooks and Derek Newton, those guys all played a good football game. (on QB Ryan Mallett saying he s focused on the next start and not celebrating his first NFL win) I think he realizes, again I think a lot of it has to do with how he s been trained over the years. He knows that, OK, he went out and played a solid game against a good Cleveland team and he knows as soon as that games over you have to start thinking about Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a really good football team, had a great win yesterday over New Orleans. I m sure he was already starting to watch their tape on the plane on the ride back from Cleveland after he reviewed the Cleveland game. I m sure he watched that and then moved on to Cincinnati on his own. That is some of the things that we see that we like about him. (on if RB Alfred Blue s performance gives him confidence in him moving forward with RB Arian Foster possibly missing more time) I have a lot of confidence in Blue. I really do. I didn t think twice about him having the start in that game. Of course, Arian Foster is a proven player in this league. He s a really, really top notch running back. But at the end of the day, injuries occur, so the next guy has to be ready to step up no matter who you are. Whether you re a veteran player or a rookie player, I think we all had confidence that Alfred would step in there and do the job. (on how important was it to get TE Garrett Graham involved) That was good to see. That was really good to see because I don t think he s been involved enough. Especially on that two minute drive where we hit him twice there, those were two good throws, two good catches, two good routes, two different type of routes. One where he had to get open verses man coverage and one where he had to get his head around verses zone coverage when he was free up the seam there. He had to do two different things there. That s a credit to Garrett Graham and a credit it to Ryan (Mallett) for getting him the ball, credit for the line for protecting well on those plays. It was good to see. (on the impact SS Danieal Manning has made since arriving right before the start of the season) He s just a great guy, great teammate, great in the locker room, great special teams player. Made a tackle on the kickoff yesterday, had a kickoff return, started at safety, did a nice job there at safety, had some big plays, had a big fourth down play at the end of the game. A guy that practices hard, he s played a lot of football in this league. We ve got a lot of respect for him, our coaching staff to him. And he s been a really good addition to our football team. (on P Shane Lechler saying that he did not have a good game yesterday) Shane is one of the best punters really to ever punt to be honest with you. Shane, when you look at Shane s stats and what he s done over his career, yesterday was his 200th straight game, I mean, that s unbelievable. No, I would say yesterday probably wasn t one of Shane s best outings, but he ll come back. Nobody knows more about punting then Shane. He ll fix his mistakes or correct his technique. He ll be back ready to go for Cincinnati. 15

16 (on if the run defense was the best it looked all year) Yeah, I mean, they held them to under 60 yards. I think that s probably one of the better performances of the year for our defense. I think our front played well. Obviously our defensive line J.J. Watt, what more can you say about him but other guys played well, too. I thought Brian Cushing and Akeem Dent in the middle, they played well. I thought for the most part we set the edge well with (Brooks) Reed and (Whitney) Mercilus and (Jadeveon) Clowney did a decent job when he was in there. (Jared) Crick played well; (Jeoffrey) Pagan got in there in the fourth quarter, made a couple plays. That was good to see. Ryan Pickett, he went in there did a good job. I think that was the 201st game or something like that he s played in. He s a veteran player that s done a really good job for us, too. I think (Jerrell) Powe got in there and did a decent job of holding the point. Everybody worked together and overall we did a good job of stopping the run. (on QB Ryan Mallett s arm strength showing up in mid-range passes) That s part of it. He does a good job of understanding when we re going fast. He tries to take a pre-snap picture of what he sees and he can process that pretty well. He did a lot of that in college with Bobby Petrino at Arkansas. He did a lot of that. And then obviously in New England he did a lot of that in practice and coming here. We re trying to get our offense in a better rhythm and he helped us do that yesterday. Arm strength, it s that, but it s also the timing and the placement of the ball. Overall, that was pretty good yesterday, although on the one play on fourth and 3 to Andre (Johnson), he rifled that ball, but it was a little bit inside and Andre made just a great catch on that play. The receivers, Andre, (DeAndre) Hopkins and D.J. (Damaris Johnson), did a decent job of catching the ball for him for the most part. (on what the biggest thing for OLB Jadeveon Clowney is moving forward) Consistency. Consistency, being able to do it week-to-week, day-to-day. He s a disruptive player when he gets in there and he s got the ability to really disrupt plays. When he understands his role and what his job is in the different packages that he has and keeps getting a better understanding of those things, he s going to be more and more disruptive as he goes. I just look for consistency with all the rookies. (on the play of ILB Akeem Dent recently) I ll tell you what. He has, over the last three games, been one of the more improved players. He s playing physical. He s doing a good job blitzing. He s doing a good job on special teams. He s done a nice job for us over the last three games. He keeps getting better. I think yesterday he did a good job of stopping the run and blitzing the quarterback. He had a tackle for a loss, he was in, I think he had a sack on (Brian) Hoyer. The guy has done a good job and he just needs to keep it going. BILL O BRIEN TRANSCRIPT try not to turn the ball over on offense, we ve got to play better on special teams. But it s like I said, last week it was seven one-game seasons; now it s six one-game season. Cincinnati is a very difficult challenge. (on teams now having more film of QB Ryan Mallett and if there will be adjustments that defenses will make) So last week they had seven plays. So now they have 84 more plays, I guess. They have some more film, but it s still one game. Every week is a different challenge. Cincinnati presents a different challenge to us than Cleveland based on their personnel, based on their scheme. We re a game plan offense. Week-to-week, there are certain things that we will always do. We re going to try and establish the run, take care of the football, be in manageable third downs. But as far as what plays we run and things like that, that will be different week to week. (on DEA agents speaking to a couple NFL teams about illegally prescribing drugs and if he has any concerns within the organization) Not at all. (on the play of Bengals QB Andy Dalton and the return of WR A.J. Green) There is a good point right there is that A.J. Green was back for them this week against New Orleans. Andy Dalton is a good player. I worked him out at TCU when he was coming out, so I remember him coming out of college. Smart guy, tough guy, good accurate passer; all these young guys, these younger quarterbacks, they ve all had their ups and downs. It s those guys that fight through it that end up being successful in the end, and Andy has done that. He s fought through some ups and downs. He s a good player. He presents a lot challenges to our defense. (on the play of CB A.J. Bouye in place of the injured CB Kareem Jackson) I think A.J. went in there and did a decent job. I m sure there are some plays that he wishes he could have back. I thought he made some plays and then there are things that he needs to get better at and he needs to get more consistent at. He s a young player. He s only in his second year. He s got all the skillset that you re looking for in that position. He just needs to keep trying to be as consistent as he can be. (on if he has an idea of when CB Kareem Jackson will be back) No, I don t. (on how big ILB Brian Cushing was for the defense) I think anytime you get a guy back like that, that means a lot to that defense. He s a playmaker. He blitzed Brian Hoyer twice and he hit him very well. I think that affected them a little bit. He played good in the running game. He was a leader out there calling the defensive signals. I thought he played a good football game. (on if he likes where the team is knowing that there are divisional games left on the schedule and a path to the playoffs) I think anytime it s around Thanksgiving and you re still in the hunt, that s a good thing. You re in the 11th game of the season and you re still there. There is a lot to play for. That s big. That s big. That s what I explained to this team this morning. They know that. They understand that. I think what we did was, the bye came at a pretty good time for us relative to this game, this past game, and we had a good week of practice. We had a lot of energy. We need that every day. We can t afford to have a bad practice. Of course, bad plays happen, but not bad days. You can t have a bad day. You have to have good practices, a lot of energy and keep this thing going. Hopefully we can keep creating turnovers on defense, (on if the fast tempo is something fans can start to expect from the team) Our guys like playing fast. They really do. They enjoy the tempo that we play at whether it s even just a quick play in the huddle and getting to the line of scrimmage fast or it s just going no huddle. I thought the drive at the end of the half was a two minute drive. That was a good drive. I thought that there were a couple drives in there where we just went to the ball and Ryan (Mallett) got us to the ball and we were able to get into the right play and get into a rhythm that way. Or there were times where we huddled during the drive and we were able to get in and out of the huddle at a good pace. Those guys enjoy playing at fast paced. Hopefully we can continue to mix those tempos up. 16

17 GM AND EXECUTIVE VP RICK SMITH/ASSISTANT COACHES GENERAL MANAGER AND EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT RICK SMITH Rick Smith oversees all football-related operations and the player acquisition process as Houston Texans Executive Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager. Smith is in his ninth season as General Manager and fourth as Executive Vice President of Football Operations. Named general manager by owner Bob McNair on June 5, 2006, Smith s appointment made him the youngest general manager in the NFL at 36. Since then, Smith has assembled and led a football operations staff that prides itself on providing players and coaches with the tools needed for success on and off the field, regardless of scheme. Smith s leadership, vision and success have garnered recognition by the league. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell appointed Smith to the NFL s prestigious Competition Committee on Dec. 5, His peers honored him with the Tank Younger Award in 2008, presented annually by the Fritz Pollard Alliance for outstanding work in an NFL front office. Smith was an original member of the General Managers Advisory Committee, which provides advice and other feedback to the NFL Football Operations department on the integrity of the game, expansion of technology and other ways to improve the league. The Texans won their second consecutive AFC South division crown in 2012 and advanced to the Divisional round of the playoffs in 2011 and 2012, compiling a regular season record that tied for the second-best mark in the AFC. Houston set a franchise mark with a 12-4 record in 2012; a 10- win improvement under Smith s leadership. Smith s tenure in Houston began with a 6-10 record, followed by a pair of 8-8 records in 2007 and In 2009, the Texans posted the first winning season in franchise history, narrowly missing the playoffs at 9-7. Houston bounced back from a 6-10 mark in 2010, going 10-6 in 2011, winning the AFC South and securing a playoff berth, both franchise firsts. Collectively, the Texans current roster, all acquired by Smith, with the exception of Andre Johnson, has earned 26 Pro Bowl selections, 18 first- or second-team Associated Press All-Pro distinctions, one Defensive Player of the Year award and one Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Smith s eight first-round picks between have combined to start 397 of the 418 games they have played. Three of the eight have earned All-Pro honors: left tackle Duane Brown, linebacker Brian Cushing and defensive end J.J. Watt. Watt, the 11th overall pick in 2011, was named the 2012 Defensive Player of the Year following one of the best defensive performances in NFL history and a league-leading 20.5 sacks. Unrestricted free agents have also thrived in Houston on Smith s watch. Cornerback Johnathan Joseph has been to the league s all-star game twice since joining the Texans from Cincinnati in Smith also orchestrated the trades that brought quarterback Matt Schaub from Atlanta in 2007 and center Chris Myers from Denver in Both earned multiple Pro Bowl berths with the franchise. Smith places a premium on college free agents. The most well-known college free agent success story in Texans history is running back Arian Foster. Undrafted out of Tennessee in 2009, Foster won the 2010 rushing title and had three consecutive Pro Bowl nods. In his former role leading the Denver Broncos pro personnel department, the franchise posted the league s fifth-best regular-season record from , going (.635). The 61 wins were the most of any AFC West team during that span and Denver was one of only four teams in the NFL to reach the playoffs each season from HOUSTON TEXANS COACHING STAFF NFL Texans Coach Exp. The closest a pair of Texans have come to reaching the mark was in 2008, when Johnson led the league with 1,575 yards receiving and was complemented by former teammates Kevin Walter (899 yards) and Owen Daniels (862 yards). Johnson and Hopkins were within that realm in 2013, when Johnson had 1,407 yards receiving and Hopkins had 802.
